Ok it’s a deal, I’ll watch it again and update the tier list if I feel it is neccesary.
What are some good Winona Ryder films?
beetlejuice…that’s about it
GlennGary Ross…is this a movie I should check out?
My coworkers keep telling me it’s a great movie.
glenngary is proof that a movie can be much less than the whole of it’s parts…
edit: pg, i’m taking from your comment on netflix you saw inland empire? how does it rate on the lynch scale? is it eraserhead obscure? i take from your comments it’s much more “lynch” than mulholland drive.
I’d say it’s beyond more lynch therefore making it less lynch. i talked about it a bit in the inland empire thread. I would say it is definitely my least favorite of his work
ok, i read what you said. sounds like something i will check out, but not put much stock in. btw, have you heard ANYTHING about a true twin peaks season 1 set with the pilot? or is that just a pipe dream of lynch fans?
trying to get to the bottom of that myself. they finally announced season 2 is being released but no one has info on what episodes are included. There was talk at one point that the pilot would be included with the season 2 set but who knows.
Inland Empire is ~ 3 hours long. About ~35 minutes of that time makes any kind of narrative sense in and of themselves, least of all to an overarching plot. There is some cool stuff and I for the most part “enjoyed” the experience of watching the film, but in the end it was too much
i never picked up the region free pilot because i heard the quality was not that great. it make no sense to me to release a set without the pilot…i always wonder when they pull weird shit like that. the tick animated series is missing one episode(which is said to be on the next set), but i don’t find the logic in it…
Spoilers
Aside from Edward Scissorhands, you mean. Heathers, Reality Bites, and some other of her films seem pretty good too. Anyway.
Caught The Shining on TV tonight. Thought I remembered the wife and son being murdered. I thought they were being killed in the maze… odd.
So… it was a fun movie. Pretty tragic to see a son run away from his murderous father like that. All the actors in the film were amazing. Especially the little boy. The wife was rather sweet… a sweetheart.
Some things I didn’t understand, though… I missed the first 5-10 minutes of the movie, I saw it from the briefing Jack Nicholson had with his employer. Lightning rarely strikes twice at the same spot, so I dunno why there were two incidents of murder in that hotel, in the same scenarios… but maybe the conversations Jack had with this Dilbert Grady were planned ahead, from the beginning, or something…
The fact that Wendy saw visions of dead people was bizarre… I thought only Danny had this “gift” [of seeing things from the past and future, and present, but elsewhere]. Because of the Indian burialground, then, was it?.. I assume Jack saw and talked to dead people just because he went insane. I didn’t get the ending, either. Anybody know the meaning behind the photo at the very end?
I incidentally had this disturbing dream that my father was this abusive maniac last night. Crazy.
Shaolin & Wu Tang, starring Gordon Liu and Adam Cheng, is one of the greatest films of all time. Buy it.
Ong-Bak… just saw it some days ago. Instant classic.
yeah scissorhands and heathers are good too…not a fan of reality bytes though.
Watched Idiocracy this weekend. movie made me weep.
also watched Death Wish 2 - a classic, just as good as part 1
Fuck me gently with a chainsaw…
Anyone catch Alpha Dog this past weekend?
weep like it sucked ass? i just added it to my netflix list cuz my friend mentioned it, but i was only half paying attention, so i didn’t hear if it’s any good or just fucking dumb…
nah more like weep for america and the people who have to live in red states.
so, i should keep it on my list? worth watching?
considering the amount of movies in your queue and that you seem to get through about 1 movie every other week or so I would say it wouldnt hurt
i’ve been real bad with the holidays and playing ff12 all the time…i’ll catch up real soon here…plus me and my fiance have been watching the brisco county jr set i got for my bday…
no kidding…FF12 is killing me time-wise and I still feel I havent played it nearly long enough
i’m over 60 hours right now(got it mid-dec) and i’m still no where near the end of the story…i spend so much time just levelling and collecting loot…
taped wes craven’s Shocker off of hbo last week and started watching it last night. theres some hilarious heavy metal hair bad theme song that plays over the opening credits that had me rockin. so far the movie is better than i expected. Nice and cheesy early 90s stuff. It got me thinking about other early 90s horror films that were released theatrically but dont have sequels: Dr. Giggles, Man’s Best Friend, Ghost in the Machine (dvd sequel??), Mr. Frost…
edit: uhh…did we both just happen to randomly dig out this thread and post at the same time?
