Gondry doing Green Hornet?! That’s some of the most interesting movie news I’ve herad in a while…
my problem with 2 was they showed myers way too much.
i liked 1 a lot because you never really saw him, but he was always there in the background stalking.
the funny people trailer looks better than observe and report. that was the first rogen trailer i saw and didn’t really want to see the movie right away.
Agreed. It’s much more scary when you can’t see the monster but you can feel it lurking just out of frame. Suspense is generated by what you don’t see, rather than what you do.
More often than not, subtitles like “unrated version,” “special edition,” and “director’s cut” are just marketing tricks used to make DVDs look better on the shelf. Throw in a few seconds of footage here and there that weren’t in the theatrical cut and bam, it’s a director’s cut.
Observe and Report just looks like every other Rogen film that isn’t directed by Apatow. Funny People actually interests me.
edit: I have to say, recently I watched Halloween 1 after like ten years, and it was amazing. I was actually very creeped out by Mike Myers in that. I don’t know why I didn’t like it much the first time I saw it.
I did the same thing two weeks ago. I decided to watch the first before the re-make to refresh my perspective. Obviously the first was great, though Laurie looked a little older than I remember(when the opposite is usually the case…) I don’t understand a lot of the hate on the re-make though. Thought it was good.
ummm i guess, but there are still differences, any of which i didnt see…

Well, that’s kind of my point. The differences probably aren’t significant enough to be noticed.
With Tropic Thunder I didn’t notice any difference either, but there’s 13 extra minutes so there must be something new.
Is the Halloween 25 Years of Terror any good? I didn’t realize it was a newdocumentary, I thought it was just another cash in attempt by anchor bay by selling us the same movies over and over
flight of the conchords are rediculous…

they should come out with a movie…

It’s pretty good, lots of extras, definitely worth a netflix/rental.
Movies I watched recently (from dvr’ing showtime)
Taras Bulba - Yul Brynner goodness
Highlander Endgame - I forgot how atrocious this was
Homicide - some old david mamet movie about a jewish cop, not bad but pretty dated
Bratz - not as bad as people said
Burnt Offerings - pretty slow overall but some effective moments and a great ending
Barb Wire - they really slaughtered this comic.
To Live and Die in LA - great movie, great soundtrack, awesome ending
Nightwatch - the ewan mcgregor remake - pretty good, lots of character actors
I also started watching Battlestar Galactica. I’ve only watched the miniseries so far but I thought it was great.
I’ve heard so many people say how good BSG is, I’m tempted to watch it. I’m not a huge sci-fi fan, but my friend told me that shouldn’t matter too much. I still have to watch The Wire also…when the shit does Mad Men come back?
I ended up picking it up from Amazon for $5. Hopefully it will get here soon so I can watch all the Halloweens in a row then it. I can’t leave the house for a week or so because I got a pnuemonia.
I lived on the East coast my entire life and never got sick once when it was 0 degrees outside, but somehow I end up with a pnuemonia on the west coast where I never have to wear a jacket?
wtf is that
Don’t you live in Vegas? Man, there’s nothing but disease all over that place…
yea but i’ve been doing a lot of work in cali too so i’ve been there a lot
since i’ve moved to vegas i’ve gotten:
- food poisoning
- bronchitis
- pneumonia
pretty sure AIDS is next
in NJ I never was sick ever except for the occasional cold or whatever.
I think its just from being in the casinos, they’re really dirty. Add in the buffets and street vendors selling food that has been sitting in the 120 degree sun all day and I guess its not a good combo
Vegas is just a dirty, dirty city. I don’t touch anything when I’m there and I wash my hands like 200 times a day during my stays. Do you know how hard it is for me to sleep in a bed in Vegas? It takes serious drugs to get me to do it…or my naked wife…
Late but GT review is up:

that was a horrible review, try not to spoil the movie in a review…

My reviews are meant for those who have seen the film. =P
Watched Friday the 13th (2009) last night, jusese christ what crap. Only good thing was that one girl workin it on the bed. some of the kills just seems really lame and they could have done them better…
I rented The Midnight Meat Train last night and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Its not saying much, but this is the best Clive Barker adaption since the original Hellraiser.
Its the Hollywood debut for Ryuhei Kitamura, whos previously did the brilliant Versus and other Japanese genre films. His trademark amazing visuals and lighting are all here and the atmosphere of the movie is creepy. Great acting, gore, music.
It gets a little unrealistic and bananas at the final 10 minutes or so, but for a reason. The setup for the end is pretty clever and I really hope the DVD does well and we get the intended sequels for this film.
If you’re into horror movies at all I’d say this is worth a rental.
