Bruce lee was right the asian man always gets the shaft in the movie industry =/.
Obviously he’s banking on the fact that not many people in the US have ever heard of it and therefor he can market it as something new and fresh…which he’ll get away with of course:bluu:
Sounds like a decent action movie. I’m a huge Liam Neeson fan.
They only got Blu-Ray (upcoming) on the Amazon US (they got the DVD on UK though) page though, so I guess region 1 isn’t out here yet.
If you like a more (disturbingly) realistic human trafficking movie, (except for the scene in the end with the sniper assassin) check out this TV movie with Mira Sorvino:
Ugh, yeah. Seems unnecessary, but then again so is half of the movies produced in hollywood these days.
The latest news I heard as well is that a remake of Lady Vengeance is being produced with Cherlize Theron in the lead. While a remake of that probably wouldn’t go over that well either, I believe Theron has the talent to at least pull it off. Unlike Smith.
Just got back from role models, if you’re a david wain fan you’ll appreciate the humor most of the audience barely laughed at the funniest stuff -_-.
It fell off a little towards the end but overall a pretty solid comedy paul rudd and the black kid KILL IT while sean william scott plays his usual asshole role well.
jesus…holy mountain. i think it was infested jester that hooked me up with a copy of that movie. we watched it while drinking jager at my friends house. intoxicated is not the way to see holy mountain. it’s way too metaphoric for alcohol…much more suited for weed, shrooms or plain old sober…
however, the line “rub your clitoris on the mountain” made all of it worth it…
holy mountain looks halarious, looks to be artsy just to be artsy…those movies are hella funny…i actually laughed during the trailer…but i did add that and el topo to netflix…so ill give them a shot…
finished season 5 of The Shield. Didnt think it was that great. Dutch is just a punchline, Claudette was awol for most of it and is then just handed being captain. The storyline with the rookie was so heavy handed. The weekly cases were not memorable. Worst of all Shane was in the backseat for almost all of it in order to focus on Lem who is really boring. Hopefully s6 will pick up
Wasn’t a big fan of S5 either. Though it did make me realize what a great actor Forest Whittaker is. As his character lost confidence and got more desperate his eye got lazier and lazier. There’s a point in season 6 where his character has completely lost it and the eye is basically closed shut.
Great acting.
I think six started off a little slow, but got good when they found out who Lem’s murderer was.
I dont know whats going to happen but I just dont buy that Vic would be all that upset at Shane for killing Lem. They already killed a cop. Vic knew the writing on the wall with Lem, so what’s his problem?
^^ friday the 13th part 3 in 3-d. now i can ditch my bootleg copy that gave me headaches
one good thing about movies being remade is they always do a decent job on the old dvd’s to sell them.
texas chainsaw got some nice dvd’s when it got remade. now friday the 13th 1 is coming to blu ray and 1/2/3 are getting dvd re releases with more features and 3d in 3
californication is getting back into the slut of the week theme except for some reason they’re not getting naked. like how smallville used to have bad guy of the week. even mia had another sex scene in bra and panties, no nudity.
the conversation between the womans son and hank was hilarious and the preview for episode 8 looks dope
Regarding Will Smith and Oldboy. My friend thought it would be awesome if he did the film with his son. Therefore it brings up the question, which one is more offensive, incest or homosexuality to the general public. It’d be called Old Boy: The Pursuit of Happyness 2. It’d be both awesome and a career killer.
Awesome, my first blu-ray restoration project that I got payed for comes out today and its being destroyed by review sites:
“was thinking here but I know they were NOT thinking restoration in any way what-so-ever. This comes to High Definition plagued with tons of film dust, dirt, grain and noise present in the 35mm print. As a result of this you get a very skewed black level that lacks solidity throughout. It does have its times that you achieve a inky black level but its never consistent. The color palette isnt exactly all that vibrant, despite the tacky 70s colors and bright Christmas lights setting the backdrop. The fleshtones here are fairly accurate. Speaking of which, the lovely (for her time) Margot Kidder does look good but it doesnt feel like her beauty is being done justice. The amount of clarity here is low and there is an obviously lack of detail the majority of the time. This transfer does boast a tad bit of an improvement in detail with comparison to DVD at times but its really just not enough. I just cant really see this to be too much of an improvement over the DVD release.”
"I cant really say anything positive in any way about this video transfer. Ill end it with giving it the low 2 Star Rating that I never thought Id give anything on Blu-ray Disc this far into its existence. What a disappointment too! "
If only they knew the print and money I was working with…
It cost a lot of money to get it to even that quality and is identical to the best print they have
me and one other guy were ordered around by some guy who runs a website
he’s like DO THIS AND THIS AND THIS
i hated it so much. we didn’t even work from the original print because no one knows where it is. we were working from a re-print that they got from Warner instead of the original print from the Canadian company. the print had so many scratches and dust. we worked like 12 hour days. i’d work 9pm-9am then he’d come in and work 9am-9pm. and still couldn’t fix the print.
financially it was stupid too because the company is in canada and i had to spend about 4 weeks in a hotel and i traveled back and forth a couple of times so i think i actually lost money working on it
tarantino got called one day because he owns a print but his is all red for some reason so we couldn’t use it, but no one let me talk to him.
we cleaned it up the best we can, the blu-ray looks identical to the 35mm print so people complaining about bit-rate and such are wrong. increasing the bit-rate will do nothing. probably 100k, 5 guys, and 2 months of working would fix it, but no one is going to invest that type of money into it.
but it actually got me more work. the guy i was working with does work for anchor bay/starz a lot, so he said he’s gonna bring me on some projects there if i want
but anchor bay is cheap he said so you’re not gonna be able to do a good job. they just want something decent for as cheap as possible
thanks for pointing to that horror dvd review, but he’s really wrong about somethings so i emailed him hoping he’ll fix them
my problem with a lot of these reviewers is they are bit rate watchers. like if the movie was magically 25 mbps or it took up an entire 50 gig disk it would be better. its not really true. high action scenes like in hulk or the matrix would suffer, but not films like this. the bit rate would only help in some dark scenes with the blacks and if you watch it the bit rates do jump up there. the whole encoding process is an art, but a lot of these reviewers immediately assume bc the bit rate is small it sucks. upping the bit rate won’t make any difference in this case. i have multiple encodes of the movie at varying bit rates and you can’t tell the difference between the higher ones and the one that was released and the 35mm print
they also claim it suffers in detail because of the compression which isn’t true. some of the detail suffers because we used edge enhancement on some scenes to make it look sharper which has a side effect of reducing the detail. but if you watch it without the ee it looks much worse
thats cool about the colors though bc i spent 2 weeks on just that.
about the special features, we wanted to put them all on but no one would give them to us and then it had to go to the replicators to meet the deadline so we had to do with just the couple we had.
ultimately this blu ray will be lucky to sell 1,000 copies. they only printed 5,000. its not really in their best interests to go overboard on it. a lot of the reviewers point out how good TCSM looked too, but that movie got a serious clean up and upgrade when it was being remade by michael bay, so they invested a lot of money in it.
this remake has already came and gone and no one cared, so no money to fix it.
