just got back from seeing Slumdog Millionaire. great movie, one of the best this year by far. i recommend it. 8/10
it’s def one of the best movie experience i’ve had in a while.
edit: the premise seems lame but dont let that turn you away. it’s more like an Indian version of City of God w/ a love story that spans a decade
i really want to see slumdog. i know it’s the “feelgood” oscar film of the year, but i’m a sucker for those kind of films. plus i love danny boyle’s stuff.
how is the dance number at the end? i hear the music is the directors favorite part of the whole film…
so, i started watching freaks and geeks last night. how did i miss this show when it was on tv?! i’ve only seen two episodes and i’m alredy in love with this show. i know i’m going to be quite upset when i get to the last disk…i hate good shows that only last one season, like studio 60. at least brisco county’s one season pretty much wrapped up everything…but, seriously, freaks and geeks has the potential to join the ranks of arrested development and seinfeld…
it really wasn’t on tv that long
i remember watching it in high school a couple of times and loving it, but then it disappeared. in college they would run mini marathons on the family channel, but i don’t think it got any love until it hit dvd
i bought the yearbook edition which is nice, but way overpriced. the regular dvd is kind of expensive too, i think nbc didn’t want to make it so they had to go through a third party who never lowers their prices.
its pretty amazing how everyone on the freaks side is really famous now [except for busy phillips] and the people on the geeks side hardly work or have small roles
i wanna see role models today, i think this will actually be a good movie. wasn’t really liking zack and miri. huge kevin smith fan, but i dunno movie didn’t work for me too well
must be related to the weinstein company curse since they split with disney
Yeah, I missed Freaks and Geeks when it was on TV as well. After watching that and Undeclared later, I wish there was more of both. Great shows. Sucks to want to see more of where the characters will go with no chance of seeing it.
paul feig who wrote like every episode of freaks also directed like 8 eps of the office and like 7 of arrested development…
Wow. Some films just should be left alone. Why remake a film that got it right the first time? I seriously don’t understand it.
i dont know if i mentioned this before but i watched the first 2 seasons of its always sunny in philedolphia (sp) and thats probably one of the best written shows i have ever seen…
oh and im about to watch the deer hunter soon, hopefully it is as epic as people say it is…
im outi
Roberth
always sunny is epic…whenever i tell people to watch the show, i always describe the subversive comedy by saying “there’s an episode where they get addicted to crack to collect welfare.” - i don’t think anything encapsulates that show like that statement…
This is emblematic of most remakes/adaptations, and the answers are always the same: money and publicity.
yea i didn’t realize it was danny boyle, he’s fuckin awesome. the movie was well made, great cinematography, great pacing, etc.
i hate bollywood shit. but i actually liked the dance number at the end, perfect way to end the movie. and yea the music was great too. you wont hear that stupid song in the trailer by the tings tings.
People… stop what you are doing get fucking get your hands on “El Topo”. Seriously, one of the best movies I have seen in years. After watching it you can see where TONS of anime writers got their influence. Go fucking watch it.
and then go watch holy mountain
then go watch a movie with some dudes fighting in underground illegal fighting.
Fuck ya! That shit is cool.
okay well i just finished watching a movie that i have never heard before until my brother told me. its called “Taken” and its an action/crime/drama/thriller i would say. the main plot is a girl goes to paris and and is kidnapped by a group and used for prostitution. her father is a secret agent and he is going to save her daughter. i dont really want to say anything else since someone here might be interested but i thought it was a really good movie. this is just a small non descriptive plot from me so just go dl it and watch it yourselves
edit: here is the imbd page of it if any1 is interested.
I read that the other day, it’s just so wrong. I don’t think it’s possible to do a movie like Oldboy with huge names like that attached to it, and Will Smith?!? You need to leave that theater feeling scarred, or like someone just kicked you in the nuts, not sure Hollywood is up to the task.
It was a pretty basic plot, but I enjoyed it. Definitely worth a watch.
