I wish they rebooted this line back when I had the cash and time to hunt it down.
On a recent provisions run, I stumbled upon a lone Cobra Commander misplaced in a Target; but left it behind. Can’t spare the $20 at the moment. In general, I’m also burned out on what a pain in the ass toy collecting has become. Is it decreased production, or is it scalpers buying out stock and reselling for profit online?
Scalpers ruined the DC Mattel line for me. They would either buy new inventory, and return old figures since Target used the same SKU for all figures. Worse - they’d go to Five Below and buy all the Suicide Squad peg warmers, go buy all the new DC figures at Target, and then return the Five Below bombs.
It’s not new. The Masters of the Universe reboot from the early 2000’s got screwed this way thanks to scalpers and Mattel being incapable of producing sufficient amounts of figures that were not He-Man and Skeletor.
Hard for your cartoon to sell toys when the only toys available are the same shit everybody else has.

It is bad distribution from Walmart and Target.
Some stores get stuff super late or don’t order certain waves from Hasbro.
Corona messed up stuff too.
When there are exclusives, scalpers and bots target the sites with razor sharp focus leaving them to sell out instantly.
I have only seen Scarlett and Roadblock once a month ago in one store. It’s lame…
Transformers seem to be better stocked,but Hasbro has been making so many prominent characters exclusives that it requires a lot of driving around to different stores to get certain figures.

Hopefully they re-release some of these early waves, or figures in later lines so there’s not a ridiculous scalpers market.
I’m partially aware of the Transformers stuff because of a buddy who really is crazy about collecting, although in Covid-19 timeline I’m not as helpful since I’m only leaving the house to go to work or grocery runs.
I hope that Soundwave isn’t difficult to pick up.
The real losers here have to be parents. Imagine the immense pain in the ass it would be if your kid were into these toys, and you couldn’t find them because of middle aged guys buying them up?
Why would someone, unless they are rich as fuck and are famous for their wealth, just give that much for a tip?

Probably a wealthy patron who really appreciates that yuppie bar and wants it to remain in business, as small businesses are getting raw dogged during the Covid-19 era. A $3k tip is an economic flex given cleveland is consistently one of the poorest, job stressed, and wage depressed cities in the country.
Ignoring that, it was split four ways between the staff working that evening. So it’s still a generous tip to four workers, but it’s not a $3k payday to one person.
I dunno man. If you’ve got the means and the ability, have at it. It is rare. I put out a tip jar when I would do sketches for people at local events, and these cheapskate sumbitches can’t cough up pocket change. Value for value is pretty rare. Which is why I stopped. I can draw all day for myself, for free - not need to take dumbass requests, and come away with no money without the hassle of leaving the house.
