The Squaresoft Fighting Game Thread...I'm probably the only one who likes these!

I’m too lazy to read this entire post, but:

Dream Factory made Tobal / Erhgeiz / Kakuto Chojin. Square / Namco / Microsoft had a hand in publishing them.

Tobal #2 is one of the best 3D fighting games ever. Erhgeiz is decent, but most people never gave it the time of day. Kakuto Chojin… no thx! (Oh, and BBlade was sick, but required a hugeeeeeeeee amount of patience).

Tobal 2’s adventure mode is actually pretty hard

overall, it’s a cool game

but I think the hype ruined it for me

I agree with you Ryoma. Square and Enix both were alyways heavy hitters when it came to rpgs, and they probably still always will be. One thing for sure, they would most definetly be known for creating those kinds of games more than any other they may have dabbled in. Most of their money is geared towards the rpgs, but the games that they did experiement with were really good. Well, when SE was seperate, mainly Square. Since they merged, their games have been a little :confused: strange.
But! back in the day Ehrgeiz was midly entertaining. The extra modes and the quest modes were what saved really below average gameplay, but hey, it was pretty pk back then. Now, it’s be right in the bin with Toshinden, I hate to say. (I dug Toshinden. Still do) Never played either of the Tobals yet, doubt if I ever will, but Bushido Blade was mad fun. You could always run around the stage and try to catch the enemy by surprise, but it usually ended up in a cross of blades ^^;;;
Back to Ehrgeiz, the cg was great. (The continuious ending was funny) I was disappointed that none of the FFVII characters, except Sephiroth had any personalized CG endings. But playing as them really added to the game. The end boss was a pain tho >_< What was it a giant dog or dog/cat-type of thing ^^;;;??? A form of Django I think but ahh i don’t remember lol
The msuic was bad for the most part, but some of them were memerable. Just downloaded the FFVII Prelude and the battle theme the other day ^^;; from the Galbadia Hotel at FFshrine.com.
Even tho those old fighters by Square had their strange brow raising moments, they were still fun in someway, and in some cases that fun made up for the lack of consistant gameplay.
Although it was funny to knock down a character and, if they werent being controlled, they’d just lay there watching you, like in Tekken.
Dang I forgot how to taunt in that game. Oh well. But yeah, that’s my long-winded take on it.
