Does anyone ever use Juri’s level 2 v-skill cancel as a fake out? I was thinking about using to fuck with Guile players, but none of the top players use it so I assume it’s useless?
The only other character I’ve played seriously is Mika. She’s a lot of fun and she gets my mind off stuff. Literally. I tried to go back to Karin but it just doesn’t feel right. I dabbled in Cammy and Ken, but there was always something off. And I’ve learned not to play any character I don’t feel completely comfortable with. Mika is rare for me, cause I never play grapplers, but she has so many things I like in a character. LITERALLY. But jokes aside, Mika is fun, and i wish I’d played her seriously from the start. I nearly dropped Karin for Mika, and maybe I should’ve. Still, it’s been 95% Juri since last year July, and I mostly don’t regret it…mostly. :V
This sums up her anti-airs basically…which isn’t even one of the reasons why people think she’s bad, but at this point does it really matter anymore.
Anti airs in SFV need to be buffed a lot more across the board for many characters, and jump attacks need to be improved also to beat anti air lights. This way people will only use intended anti airs which will work consistently and reliably. We don’t need garbadge such as Guile and Bison aa cr.lp, what is that even.
I would be fine with slower but more consistent anti airs.
I disagree with infil that she needs her counter though, it literally wouldn’t add anything to her gameplay.
I don’t feel like that vid is a fair representation of her AAs. They’re still not perfect, but they’re better than they used to be. I feel like he’s overexaggerating,and we’ve seen from example that Juri’s DPs and even sHP can beat even divekicks when well timed (not that I want to start a fight about this, but I showed this when the changes for her DPs first came: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQdEuoBJ4Dw ).
I was one of the few people to openly moan about how MP DP would lose, but I do think it’s better now tbh. That said, I DO think AAs as a whole in SFV are all wrong. Standing normal AAs are slow and inconsistent for the most part, jab AA is STILL too good, and DPs aren’t a deterrent when people get one clean jump in and return all the damage two-fold. In a lot of games, you can juggle either into our out of a standard DP, so jumping is a large risk. In SFV, AA juggles are next to nonexistent and even the ones that do exist are a risk. So while I think that vid is kinda unfairly representing her DPs, I also think AA game in SFV is messed up.
On a less serious note, my personal ranking of her costumes are:
- Default: love the skin tight, spy-like bodysuit. Still struggle to find my perfect color for it though, but I love color 6 cause it’s a lot like Azure Striker Gunvolt
- Nostalgia: Recently became one of my favs cause besides the colors, it just looks damn good. Colors 1 and 2 are cool, but 3 and 6 are what I like.
- Battle costume: BC color 2 just hits the right spot tbh, can’t explain why, haha.
- Story costume: Didn’t care much for it at first, but color 15 changed my mind!
- Halloween costume: Genuinely love most of the colors for this, and her very devilish look
- School costume: I thought I’d like this more, but it didn’t quite click for me like the others did
- Christmas costume: It’s nice, but I didn’t want to choose it over the others much
The mp tensenrin is definitely a bit better than Infiltration showed, but it’s mainy effective against normal jump attacks with normal hitboxes. You can’t use a regular or slightly early timing with the mp dp. Unlike the shoto’s and Cammy their uppercuts. Then you also have jump attacks which have great hitboxes and can be done earlyin the air(Zangief, Balrog, Necalli etc). That is the flaw with her mp dp as you have to do it at the latest moment or risk it getting beat.
SFV has got anti airs completely wrong in SFV.
I would love to use cr.hp, b.hk as aa’s too but, especially b.hk but that is asking for trouble.
I just want a ton of options and strong tools in SFV, this can all be offset by having strong defensive options.
I don’t want to hate on SFV but this game is riddled by so many backwards design decisions that has that i cannot help it, as it goes against many of the things i also enjoy in FG’s.I’ve played the game around 900 hours so i’ve definitely tried to like it and it definitely has a bunch of redeeming qualities, but gameplay isn’t one of them Going on a bit of a rant, so i’m still somewhat passionate about Street Fighter as a franchise, just not SFV.
I definitely agree about the AAs, as I expressed earlier, and about SFV too. But I’m not one to openly moan about it much, I’d rather divert my efforts to playing and enjoying other stuff, not just other fighting games too. I will add that regarding Juri’s DPs, I’m actually a big fan of HP DP. Since it’s now attack invincible from frames 3-7, it’s actually a better AA to use against far jump-ins that start high, because you’re not timing the AA for the last minute. Essentially, you’re AAing early to catch them at the height and max distance of their jump, whereas MP DP is better for deep jump ins. It’s not an exact science, but I’ve found that to be quite useful, when I can actually AA someone’s jump at all, haha. That said, MP DP is now fully invincible from frames 1-6, so you can do early or late timing. You can’t just send it out when you see someone jump though, cause it can hit too late, admittedly.
Though if you’ll allow me a quick rant, Juri’s AAs were what excited me for her inclusion in SFV. ‘Finally, a character to stop all the incessant jumping’, I thought naively. I thought her cr.HP would be godlike, I thought there’d be all these cool jump MP combos. But nope, we got none of that cause Capcom is adamant about making the gameplay as restrictive as possible. The fact that the game overtly discourages you from experimenting and makes any interesting or cool things end up being less damage or harder for no payoff, it’s what’s forced people to just abuse MP strings and shimmy. And this lead to so many other issues, but we’ve all been over it a million times.
I like every single of her costumes except for her default, I just can’t stand the eyepatch and the barefoot thing it just does not make sense to me for being a biker costume.

She is the worst character in the game in every single pool, tier list, online and tournament win rate percentatge. How could posibility Infiltration could be wrong? I’ve been thinking the same since day 1.
Season 3 rebalancing is a pretty important thing for me when it comes to this game. Current stats show that she is indeed considered one of the worst both by pro and casual players.
As no other character interests me,if they drop the ball on her in S3 I will be done with the game.Because I do not agree that a game dev to willingly keep some characters strong and others at the bottom.The nerf to her aa jab while others got to keep theirs is a strong indicator that Capcom is doing just that.
Well he is just showing that cr.HP is a fucking shit button, it has no hitbox which disregarded considering is the only CC we have that can lead to good damage always. Therefore “hentai air” 'cause you get raped when you use it.
As for Tensenrin he’s not showing MP being bad look better, he’s showing that MP (invincible), HP (supposedly projectile invincible) and EX (supposedly fully invincible) are all beaten by Akuma’s air fireball
I’ll always respect Infiltrations opinion on juri… I mean he’s one of the few that had the balls to use her at Evo during SF4 despite everyone saying she was still ass. If anyone is gonna make Capcom put the work in to fix her (and given her mechanics, it’s a lot of work) it’s him.
Side note… sorta… I fell in love with nostalgia color 2. Damn she looks good in white. I still prefer punk color 7 because it’s green, but all that white looks damn good… funny how a couple of colors make a costume look good, but Capcom insists that she look like a fucking black Light poster.

Probably because both players are starting to overthink the matchup.
I’ve never liked the Juri mirror, partially cause I don’t like mirror matches, but also cause it’s not very fun. And people play Juri quite differently, and I tend to end up losing most of the time cause of the stuff they do
