I said i wonāt be continuing this topic but whatever.
In regard to what i said earlier, i have stated my personal opinion regarding the price that person charges without insulting anyone or encouraging others that use his services to back off. It just happens that i personally consider 100 to be overpriced, and no wall of text you type can change that.
I also said i have no issues with them continuing their work the way they do ( and even if i did,i could not change anything ).
Now, before you go into youāre ācavemanā mode yet again, please try and have a conversation with a person that it so happens to have a different opinion then you without insulting him in every sentence you type. Opinions are different and what i and you and others consider it overpriced may differ,as you can clearly see.
Wow what the hell happened while I was gone. Yeesh. And for the record, I think $100 as an upfront cost will put anyone off, but I do also agree that itās a reasonable price for an artist trying to make money off their work. Dedicated fans looking for unique commissions would be willing to give that much, and if I had the money to spare Iād consider paying that much for a Juri pic, since I like the character that much. However, itās also the rather staggering nature of commission price like that which led to the rise (and benefit) of stuff like Patreon. So instead of artists trying to survive purely off of the occasional but rare commission, they get a stable income from a much larger crowd source. I know this cause Iāve supported artists who started on places like DeviantArt and Pixiv and struggled to get by with just commissions, because requests were rare and the prices put people off, but they later found success with Patreon and now put out consistent content. This is all just prose anyway, I just wanted to share my two cents. And I donāt wanna control anyone nor tell anyone what to do, but i do hope we can resolve our differences. Truthfully, iāve bounced around from the reddit Juri threads to the Juri discords (yes there are multiple) and now here, and Iād hate to have to leave here too cause of drama.
Hah, well regardless. Take it from me; life is too fuckin serious to be getting into drama about stuff like this. I mean, weāre already dealing with the stress of liking a character like Juri in a game like SFV, so yknow. Haha
It doesnāt have to be serious, but can you put at the end a request to buff Juriās theme? :rock_on: Ryuās and Guileās certainly got buffed. Her SF4 theme being so upbeat and fast, I dunno what they were smoking when they thought the majority of Juri fans would like a very slow tempo theme. If anything, something like that would fit Nash due to his broody personality.
I bet the conversations over there are livelier since Zangief is consider top tier though!
Iām just pointing out some facts. Not opinions. You flat out said that I was putting words in your mouth, which if you read my comment, was not the case. You compared a guy with $10 patreon tiers to custom illustration commissions. Thereās no opinion in this. So I definitely took some offense to you putting words in my mouthā¦ that I was putting words in your mouth, and then see you act like you are being the civil, open minded one. A bit of the pot calling the kettle black.
On a more civil side:
Once again, art is only worth what you are willing to pay. You arenāt willing to pay that much, and that is fine but its a reasonable price in the world of commission art. That artist in particular has a wide range of quality, some of it would likely cost a lot more than 100 per piece, and he seems good enough to get professional illustration work outside of commissions. For artists who actually get a decent amount of work, time is money, and quality is important. It is a fine balance. How much can be done in a day. how much can be done without quality slipping, how much do I need to charge for when times are slim on money and on work. all of these things need to factor in. So whether you like this art is literally irrelevant for the cost of the image. The cost is dictated by what someone is willing to pay, and what the artist considers his time to be worth.
On a different note:
this is a Juri forum, so Iāll let it go back to being one, and not be a lecture on ethics in the patronage of the arts.
I think the first thing to work on with Juri is being able to store on the go and get away from the mentality of having to run away at the beginning of a match. Juri is really fair, you force the opponent to react and you punish what he does.
If they stay full screen and donāt have a move that will reach, store LK to begin playing like Juri. Fireball in neutral or at the end of the string and store it again, if they jump you still have time to DP, if they keep guarding, charge v Skill, LK store and V skill are your primary sources of conditioning. Now they canāt use fireballs freely. Now when you throw fireball at the end of your string and walk behind it, if they neutral jump you can either dp or v skill punish for free. Walking behind mpxxmk/cmk xx fireball is + on block I believe?? which leads to walk up cLP-mpxxLk store or cLp-Throw. Juri has really good, abuse it. Her v trigger isnāt crazy so feel free to v-reversal when the pressure gets ya. Just donāt v reversal lights or at the end of their strings. Iām not that great with Juri but she is very enjoyable.
Could you guys look at some of my recent Juri games? I know that i should focus on the fundamentals but iād really like to read the opinions of veteran players about how i play.
My nick on the CFN is āstronzoloā
Quick question, do you guys think it would be overpowerd if she could cancel her vskill charge by double tapping up to perform a jump or down and remain on the same spot ?
Iām only a Gold rank Juri, but I can see a lot of areas where you need to improve. You seem to flip between Ultra Bronze and Silver. Players who hover around there tend to lack a lot of basic stuff. This is going to seem really negative, but thereās just a lot of basic things you need to work on.
First, your movement. You walk backwards way too far and way too much. You walk back on people who are already 3/4 screen away, and you donāt even store when you do. The only forward movement you make is by jumping or dashing. You are rarely in range for your normals, which makes you whiff a lot. You rarely walk forward at all. People are just taking space from you. The whole idea is to compete for that space.
Second, your anti-airs. You either donāt AA jumps or try to AA with the wrong things. I saw a couple games where you were trying to AA Akuma with cr.HP. Thatās not a reliable AA. I also saw Akuma cancel his blockstrings into demon flip, but you just ate them over and over. In that situation you can mp DP, air throw, or air target combo(j.mp < j.HK).
Third, your offense. Again, you donāt position yourself where you can do anything with your normals. You whiff from far away. When you did get a hit, you had no combos. It was either jabs into nothing, or 2 in 1ās on hit or block. You had no punishes. You let blocked sweeps, DPs, and point blank rush punches go unpunished. You seemed to not know what to do when you got a knock down. You either backed off, or got hit with wake up buttons.
Fourth, your defense. You need to block on wake up. I saw a lot of counter hits on your wake up. At your rank, blocking goes a long way.
I saw this scenario a lot: You walk back, then whiff cr.mk into cr.hk. While you whiff, they jump. They do a block string, you whiff a poke after the block string while they jump again. You start taking hits here and there. Out comes a wakeup EX DP, and you get crush countered. If you anti-air them, then they have to fight on the ground, and thatās where your pokes come in.
You need to practice the basics. Learn your anti-airs. Learn the range of your normals. Learn your basic combos. Learn your punishes. You said it yourself: āI should focus on the fundementalsā. None of this is unique to Juri.
