I use a lot of st.lp - st.mp xx store, it beats buttons, combos naturally if the initial st.lp CHs and pushes back just a little further than usual so your store doesn’t put you at point blank -2 guessing time. You can always spend a bar to go into EX fuha after the store hits if you want the extra carry to boot. If you’re going to cancel into store keep it exclusive to st.mp and st.lp, most of her other normals make landing a store on block inconsistent.
I’ll tell you flatout right now Juri’s best offensive trait is her throw game, her forward walkspeed is stupid good and her forward throw gives you a throw loop or meaty st.mp midscreen.
So midscreen after throw its walkup st.mp? Ok got it. Didn’t know before… was trying to walk up st.hp and it was hard to time… can’t practice it because for some stupid reason juris throw is broken and the training dummy won’t wakeup with anything after throw.
So dumb.
Also yeah about the st.lp,st.mp xx store… I noticed that gentleman thief uses st.mk instead and I checked in training mode and the string has more pushback than st.mp
walk-up throw or walk-up st.mp both beat 3fs. Her throw game is stupid good. It’s tight though, and the only way I’ve found to time it is just to manual it. Not many characters have a midscreen throw loop after some of the throw nefs, so it’s one of the most important things to have down 100% just make her extra scary IMO. One of the good things she has going for her.
Ok, that’s awesome! Insane actually. I didn’t know that walk up throw beat 3 framers… that’s ridiculous and I’d practice it if I could… do you know of any way to practice this besides using record since record doesn’t work?
Seems like on paper it would be a 1 frame link since the opposing character is throw invincible for the first 2 frames after getting up, unless mashing a normal makes them vulnerable… which is something I’ve never heard mentioned.
Help me address some of the mistakes in my game I can see and see if you can tell me how to train to stop doing this dumb shit.
First that comes to mind, I don’t apply pressure and I don’t know how to get in up close to start using frame traps. Or better said
I played Laura when I started SFV I had no problem getting into the opponents face, I was using command dash, I was protecting myself with fireball to close the gap, I was using lp.elbow to get up close and working from there. It made sense, it was natural.
On Juri I tend to run instead. When I get a knockdown or some momentum I tend to let it go to to store some shit, I can feel that is a dumb mistake, but I keep doing it, how can I train?
Another common mistake or lack of knowledge or whatever we can call it, dumb play regardless, is how to get when it should be my turn: say Cammy gets in with divekick does her frametrap, gets it all blocked, now I am at a range where I cannot start any combos or frametrap, MK 2nd hit is in range now (so is roundhouse but yeah…) What should I do?
Cammy is just an example, it could be Dictator, Rashid , Necalli or whatever.
Try setting recording slots 1 and 2 to whatever wake-up you want and turn them both on. That fixed the problem for me on PS4. Sometimes I have to turn one of the slots off for it to work, sometimes it takes both.
Awesome! Tried it on the first 2 slots and nothing happened. Then I tried it on all 3 slots and slot 3 kept on working, so turned all slots off except 3 and now it’s working. Fucking sf5…
Anywho idk, the timing seems REALLY strict. Definitely a 1 frame timing. Been practicing the throw loop against juris st.lp and haven’t gotten it once in over a half hour.
However the st.mp is pretty easy to time, but it seems that the timing for it is also a 1 or maybe 2 frame link in order to not get pushed back out of range of cr.mk on the ch confirm.
Can always just do st.mk… not much damage but better than nothing and confirmable in v trigger at least.
Go for it! I asked him once about his prices. For the one with the Juri and the guy taking a picture $100 per character. For Juri lying on her bike was $110.
As an artist who does commission work, 100 per character in color can potentially be a full day’s work, and is a completely reasonable price for an artist trying to make a living off his art.
If that is too much for you, then the world of custom art is probably not for you. But to call that price unreasonable would be akin to saying this guy deserves less than minimum wage for his time spent on his work.
Given art is subjective, you might still think that, just saying, try to take into account the effort that went into it on the artist end before you guffaw at a pretty normal price.
Or maybe you should stop putting words in my mouth, just saying. Comparing this to a dude like for example Brutalace who does 3D mods for the game itself for only 10 euro ( then hands them out free 2 weeks later, and more then likely it does take longer to create ),yes i do consider 100 to be overpriced.
But i won’t continue this topic.
Please note that i have no issues against that guy and others who charge the same or against people who pay for their services, but when i see something overpriced , i call it out.
Man, then you can just go fuck yourself. You aren’t calling out shit. If a work takes a full day to do something, and they do it to live, charging a living wage is not overpriced.
I wasn’t trying to put words into your mouth, I actually thought I was being polite just saying, hey think about this from the artist perspective. I never said that you said anything.
I was describing how long a full color illustration can take against payrate and why that isn’t overpriced. But you’ve done a good job of letting some worse shit spew out of your mouth without me even trying.
Once again, if you think his work is overpriced, that is your business, but to act so smug and think you are “calling it out” then you are just a dick good sir.
If you are talking about BrutalAce having a $10 tier on his patreon. That is not comparable. I do not see anything on his other sites about taking commissions for $10. His $10 patreon tier is for requests, or higher priority on requests for mods by his patrons. He is collectively getting paid nearly 1k per month via patreon, so he can potentially doll out rewards like this without going under on his expenses. It also says nothing about what requests actually guarantee. Compare that to, a fully realized custom piece of 2D art, made for a commissioner. These are two very separate things.
Near as I can tell $10 bucks for brutalace gets you color swaps, or potentially other swaps like hairstyles and feet. These might not actually even take him much time to include because he can mix and match assets that he has already made, or he is simply editing an asset.
So, as a fellow artist, all I can say is a hearty fuck you. If you don’t like something, don’t buy it, but don’t presume because you don’t like it that others do not, and that the artist making it does not deserve to be paid a decent days wage for his time. If you find some other artists that you think is better who works for cheaper, then go pay them. But I can almost guarantee they are doing work at a deficit to themselves if they are doing custom work for less than $50-100 range.
