Yeah you can totally do that. but Gief can just lariat you as you dash in, so you need to be careful about doing it. As with everything, gotta pick your spots. I will usually only do this after I bait a lariat first to try and condition the Gief player to block the fireball.
Actually ran into a gief earlier today who steamrolled me game 1. teabags and everything. But I managed to sweep him the next two games. It is definitely a winnable match up for her, I just think you have to play it so much more perfectly than geif does. He can be careless and potentially get the win off one knockdown into his scary oki game. Where Juri has low HP, Low stun and mediocre normals to fight him in the neutral with. The full mix of her tools gives her a fighting chance, but she does low damage, so you definitely have to be the stronger player to win this match up imo. So I think its in Geif’s favor.
A new (or lesser known) Juri V-Trigger frame trap, using her EX Fuha move after s.HK, allowing you to either beat your opponent’s button, or be completely safe afterwards. It has a downside, and it does cost a bar of meter, but I found this very useful recently!
This video covers the overall usefulness of Juri’s ‘Koenzan’ command input (back + Heavy Kick), in a multitude of scenarios, including its V-Trigger potential. While a lot of this is basic info, Koenzan is often an underused move, despite having a fantastic array of benefits. If you want to see the tech about Koenzan with VT on block, skip to 2:40. It demonstrates how you can get a guaranteed grab which beats 3 frame buttons, or use a s.MP/s.MK to frame trap them.
Perfect timing. I’ve been lvling up quite a bit lately and realize b.hk is really good but I never use it (target combo as well, but I don’t use it for other reasons) and want to work it into my game. This will cut my lab time down to just working on muscle memory.
Not gonna lie, I mainly made this because I miss Persona 5. Wasn’t going to make any Juri videos until season 2.5 (2.1?), but I feel like diving into New Game+ is something I should do a few months after having beat Persona 5.
EDIT: Play Persona 5, people! Oh and NieR Automata.
I just prefer the older games generally and don’t like the Pokemon/Kawaii art style of Xrd.
Fireball video is cool. I guess it would be best for if you have a VTC ready as otherwise you’re depending on people mashing buttons on wake up with an unsafe sweep that doesn’t have great range. Fun to mess with it looks like though
