I’m not going to say that Ryu isn’t a better character but comparing Axe kick for Axe kick…I’d rather have Juri’s. :slight_smile:

I do understand the desire for more tools, but I don’t think many people realize how much 1 or 2 frames more/less does to a move. Like, you want +5 on axekick?? Why would that be necessary at all? So you could convert into insanely easy cr.mp xx (insert bigger dmg + more setups)?

You realize that you don’t have to do st.lk into hk release right? What is the issue with ending with a stock after? You know, the thing that grants you more stock (which you want), knocks down (allowing you to stock AGAIN or get MORE damage and a setup with ex juggle), and this is all coming from a great button that can confirm safely into a stock on block.

Surely this solves at least some of the ‘stock’ complaints and desire for axe kick buffs.

I dunno. I think this character just needs to be played on point. She has so many tools for almost all situations, but she’s not as easy to use or powerful as Ryu (one of the best in the game) and that makes her “shit tier”. lol cool.

You really just have to think harder with her. And all these calls for buffs are reasons for her to have to not think as hard. Her buttons are not shit -they are situational. And a call for buffs to make them more powerful or more well-rounded is really just a call to make them more universal to throw out like other buttons. Believe me, I love me some buttons, and damn it’s sweet to have great buttons, but it became so clear to me since day 1 that Juri is a character that ‘buffs’ herself up so much during a match for the right moments to strike, that if she had better buttons and frame advantage she would be gross.

To me 98% of the choices for this character make sense to me, and even a few minor tweaks could break her.

So, her V Skill seems to get a lot of hate. Something I totally understand. But I don’t think anyone is looking at it properly:

Take a look at Urien and Alex. How do their V Skills work? You stock them. Does the actual stock do anything? No. Does it give them a tool to use later? Yes.

People seem to think that Juri’s V Skill raw is supposed to do something helpful. You need to see V Skill as a stock like Alex or Urien that gives you the blessing of charging it and releasing if you see a projectile, and stocking it for later if you don’t. It’s just a stock move people.

So why would they give it a raw crossup function?

Why not?? Would you like them to just take it away? Her V Skill would STILL be applicable. It’s like if you complained about your store-kick an saying “aw man that move is so fucking shitty capcom plz”… Of course if you just analyze it for the raw stock function it looks shitty! look at the OTHER HALF. Look at the feint properties, the charge timing, the storing of a great punish move. Sound familiar? That’s cuz that’s Juri’s game in SFV.

About of her 4HK it is good button since it is special cancelable but is negative on block no matter what you do at best you ends in -2 wich means the end of your pressure, if at least 4HK were +3 on block you could space with 5LP or 5LK for a frame trap or just not give up on your turn as it is now.

To me 80% to 90% of the choises make sense its just that the frame data sucks she just need some tweaks to be good.

Her V-Skill is great and it makes a lot of sense but it has a lot of negative aspects, it takes too much time to charge to lv2 and is insanely negative on block -18 you can punish it with everyting you want, and you cant really use her v-skill to build v-meter unlike other characters.

Juri obviously needs some buffs in order to make her relevant.

I will never agree with their decision of never even giving the chance for her former playstyle to be incorporated into SFV’s playstyle ,and just considered it to be flawed and in need of a complete redesign.

Bringing a character back just for the visual aspect alone is a poor choice in my opinion.

except for Urien, all of the dlc characters need major buffs.

and Fang

Balrog is really strong he just needs some little tweaks, Urien might be top 8 material he has already broken stuffs like the top tier chars just give him some time. Every other DLC char needs more love imo.

I actually don’t think she is all that bad. I think she is a pretty decent character in the full scheme of the game. But her normals are not good overall so you have to play around that fact heavily to win with her.

I’m more just disappointed in how so many of her options look like they have a specific function, but then in practice, they do not. Ex: RH doesn’t go over lows very consistently, stores are negative on block so you can’t mix stores into pressure strings. etc. I’m mostly just hoping any future balance changes improve how things like that function.

But she has good walk speed, useful specials. multiple ways around zoning, a real DP when EX, and a decent AA dp in her mk version. She has a far reaching overhead, and a strong Vtrigger ability. So on paper, she has a lot, it seems like they just meddled with a lot of stuff in the underside coding of the game for her release version and that leaves a lot of her most interesting traits feeling neutered.

I don’t think she needs a total overhaul. Just a couple of tweaks to solidify her game.

i havent really made any decisions about Balrog or Birdie since they both feel mid tier to me plus i havent played enough times against them using different characters to say they need buffs or not.

It’s good to read on the positive aspects of SFV Juri. We’ll see how good or bad she really is as time goes by. That’s why I like watching Aiai, he is just putting in work…

St.hp, st.lp, st.mk can do it from farther out, and mk and EX pinwheels obviously. St.hp is usually my go to. Cancel it into store or fireball for some pressure.

I use st.hp with like a 90% reliability . Whats nice about it is I can also get a charge off it.
