Killzone multiplayer has a bit of a learning curve to it. It has depth to its various modes and MP your typical shooters lack. Though, of course, there’s traditional deathmatch/TDM if you want to ignore what KZ has to offer and just go derp mode the whole time.
Warzone changes objectives on the fly, which is awesome. Chokepoints and objectives dynamically changing multiple times throughout a single match is good times, it makes every match feel unique.
Class skills are sick too. You can create dynamic spawn points for you and your squad, setup turrets, toss out aerial Metal Gears to go HAM for you, on top of class perks. Shit’s too good.
Once you guys are able to get on some MP, please post about how the lag is. This is the deal breaker for me, if multiplayer latency hasn’t improved from last gen, sayonara to consoles.
Okay for real, I started playing Killzone and the beginning is alright, corny dialogue and the graphics looked good but they didn’t blow me away or anything (compared to some PC games I’ve played and seen), the lip syncing is a bit off too (launch game problems I guess).
But then I made it outside and man, looks like Jurassic Park out here. It looks so freaking gorgeous now and it’s really bright, you see detailed footprints in the ground and the textures are baller, like when you walk really close to a stone wall and it doesn’t look like shit . This is my first Killzone and I’m hella impressed, the OWL and zip lining are really cool too and helps kinda distance it from other FPS’s and those Helhasts look damn cool.
Dunno why but I’m getting Metroid Prime vibes, definitely a good thing.
Next gen fighters probably won’t be much of an improvement (capcom fighters). I don’t think capcom would use the resources to actually expand on it’s titles based on the new hardware of consoles outside of probably more things happening in the background / ground.
Good friend of mine got his today. So we spent the entire day messing with the thing. My thoughts on the Experience…
The controller. Wow. That motherfucker is super fucking comfortable. I fell in love with that thing.
That 1.50 firmware update came very, very close to bricking his $400 console. Luckily, we didn’t give up in troubleshooting and managed to save it. We thought it was the HDMI port, but we then unplugged the ethernet cable. Caused the PS4 to boot in a Safe mode and it resumed updating to the 1.50 firmware. After that…worked as advertised.
The system seemed slow as usual on the PSN and UI. Then again I’m not going to bark too much on that, it being launch day and all.
I was surprised the PS4…from what we gathered. Could not sync to home media servers. Hopefully that comes later via update.
Unfortunately, messing with the Firmware and Searching a few hours for Media Server syncing, didn’t leave too much time to game. Tried out Warframe and was lovng it with that controller…mmmmmmm. I Kinda want to go back and just PLAY GAMES ON THAT MOTHERFUCKER! MMM!
Warframe was butter smooth online and never missed a beat while I played.
Other observations not related to the above experience:
Twitch support kicks ass. I watched someone playing Killzone through it and it looks pretty damn good to me.
Facebook Game updating. I like this because it supplies a SEN link to a digital copy of the game. I like this. Especially for future games a friend may want me to get.
I definitely want a PS4 in the near future. That Early Destiny beta already had my attention…Did I fucking mention I love the new controller? Might go buy one of those tomorrow…Fuck, man.
Remote play is legit so far, PS4 on 2nd floor while I’m downstairs and there’s almost no sluggishness, I’m testing the lag difference between the wii u gamepad and the vita and it’s almost the same.
I turned on my PS3 earlier, and realized how much I really like the DS4. I’ve always felt the dualshock was one the best controller designs, and was always glad they didn’t go too far from it. But holding a DS3 after the DS4 I realized I like the DS4 quite a bit.
