The Sonic the hedgehog thread V.7 2017 its been generations since the last good sonic game

Always gotta blame the game when you suck.

The only thing I can agree with is there are certain areas in a few levels that have segments which make the default run slower. Since it is hard to build momentum that way. Though it’s painfully obvious that they didn’t bother to experiment with the spin dash.

Saw some videos with unlockables for the game and it’s pretty nuts. Won’t spoil anything but for those who are curious they can check out the youtube vids by upload date. Can’t wait for DarkspinesSonic and other crazy runners to get this game and show us some truly nutty things.

I’m happy that the game can be a lot better than people are giving it credit for. But I’m saddened by the idea of people slamming it based on their lack of ability. Just like the Wonderful 101 :frowning:

^
I wonder if this is an example of society as a whole. We are given so much these days and in most times immediately. Thus the mind set coming to conclusions quickly and not experimenting. This trend isn’t just in reviewers but is echoed by certain gamers.

TLDR: Ignorance is rampant but this isn’t new…it’s been here since the dawn of time. Honestly though I’m not above it I’ve had a ton of ignorant views but embarrassment is a quick way to shatter someone who is completely dense. Youtube is great.

Any word on the 3DS version of Lost World?

game looks fine 2 me.
Reviewers are just doing that DSP shit . haha !

I turned it off when they started talking about taping the run button down, and that if you need ton stop running, then Sega messed up.

EAD Giant Bomb.

I knew it was going to be Brad playing through that Quick Look before I even clicked it.

3DS version of Lost Version fare better with IGN but the reviewer is still making the same mistakes from the console version.

I’m not even putting reviewer’s opinion under consideration until I get my hands on it. From people’s impressions that I’ve been reading it’s a good game with flaws. Some can look past them, others can’t and find the game to be garbage all over.

For the record I still have very high expectations for both versions. Hope there’s a Black Friday sale for 3DS version.

I picked up both my copies of the game during the midnight launches for Battlefield, WWE, and Ass Creed. I won’t be able to play it tonight but I’ll put my off my cleaning up of Gotham’s streets for a moment and put some time into at least one of the copies tomorrow night and put up some impressions.

I’ve been watching a stream of the game, and I’m not seeing why it has been getting low reviews. Like I’m completely stumped, the game looks like it plays great.

Black Friday/Cyber Monday is approaching so I’m going to wait to see the game deals before I buy, but I’m definitely buying.

Someone just tell me if the 3DS version is worth buying.

my god…it just seems like people go into a new Sonic game WANTING to review it poorly…

fuck learning how to play it and giving it a fair chance…

play it for 5 mins…cant figure out how to play…5.8…yao ming meme

Jesus…oh well…I’m still buying it for my nephew for Christmas…aka…me playing it more than he will…

Sonic Lost World Wii U impressions with 1 hour and a half put in:

[details=Spoiler]I would still be playing the game now but I wanted to stop to make time to report on stuff before I head for bed. I really want to say IGN and most sites are dead wrong on this game…I really do because I’m enjoying the game so far. The issue becomes because I’ve only been through 1 full zone with Windy Hill and I just started the Desert Ruins. I’ve been hearing hearing people hating the snow level (Frozen Factory I think?) and some of the wisp powers of which I got some experience with.

First off, YOU CANNOT PLAY THIS GAME LIKE THE OTHER SONIC GAMES. This game is something entirely different really in the way how the game is controlled and it’s readily apparent from the very beginning. You either learn to cope with this or you’re imagine you’re gonna calling the game shitty without giving it a serious try. No doubt Sonic going at walking speed and even at normal run is going to be a tad slower than most will be used too from the games prior but Spindash is plenty speedy. I think the issue is right now is that you’re not used to having this much control over Sonic and it can get confusing to long time fans. When you first start the game it’s weird to move the analog stick and see sonic not try to gain any momentum to go anywhere, your brain will be like ā€˜god why is he moving so fucking slow?’ and it will continue to do so until you realize that there is a run button. Most of the time while I’ve been playing so far after I’ve realized this fact pretty much have been holding the button down…it’s almost like Mario really.( How many people actually walk in a mario game unless it’s necessary to do so?) The only time I let go of the button is when I need to do precise platforming without overshooting something. It takes some getting used to but it works.

I believe I remember hearing one reviewer complaining about why they would move the homing attack button away from the jump button and it’s pretty clear that they wanted to seperate the options for kick, double jump, and homing attack without you accidentally doing one when meaning to do the other (which is probably one of the only control issues with Daytime Unleashed…Boost and Homing attack on the same button is a NO GO). Granted I’ve found myself goofing several times because my instincts are telling me to hit the jump button again to do the homing attack but it’s just something to get used too really. Not sure how I feel about the stronger homing attack by having the lock on stay for a couple a seconds…this may either need to be reworked or the risk/reward for doing this needs to be adjusted.

The level design for this game is fun so far. I’ve still only found 2 red rings in the first stage after playing through it about 3-4 times because of all the different paths that can be taken through the level. Having Sonic be able to Parkour up walls actually makes you want to explore the levels just incase there may be a red star ring that you may just happen to miss because it’s sitting on a pillar just out of sight of the camera.

Extra lives are pretty scarce to come by in this game which is kind of weird. You no longer get an extra life for collecting 100 rings…which makes the only function of the rings in this game as just protection and score. I don’t agree with that and believe it should be changed back in games later. Getting an extra life for 100 rings gives extra incentive to collect and be more cautious on the levels.

Another thing I have a problem with is the fact that from what I’ve played so far…whoever was in charge of programming the bosses should feel ashamed of just how easy they are. Sonic doesn’t have that many hard bosses within the course of it’s history but these guys don’t even feel like they’re putting up a fight or there’s much strategy if any at all right now.[/details]

I was planning on popping in the 3DS game during my lunch break to give it a go but my lunch break didn’t happen. Don’t know when I’ll be able to get to this but I’ll chime in on it as well when I get the opportunity.

Aww snap, looks like he got himself a copy of the game. Can’t wait for some speedruns but right now he’s showcasing the ā€œGrabberā€ glitch.

Good god Lost World (both versions) bombed in Japan.

I played the demo, I will wait on a price drop

No love for Sonic in Japan. :frowning:

We all know Sonic titles have done well on the Wii. It makes me wonder how they’ve done specifically in Japan. TBH we can’t expect the game to sell well when Nintendo has only solid 460,000 units in a 6 month period.

This doesn’t matter since Zelda and Smash will make WiiU sales sky rocket.
