<blockquote class=“Quote” rel=“The Martian”>So what’s the next Sonic project? Is there even one as of right now?</blockquote>
Bunch of board games and shit that has really yet to justify Sonic’s popularity. All I can tell you is after Ep2, Sega announced they would only be working on one Sonic title at a time which simply translates into hurry up and wait. It also means the latest game started development around/after the release of Transformed most likely.
Which also means unless they already started working on it before Ep2, we’re probably not going to hear anything about the next Sonic title for a very long time. And if that’s the case, I’m guessing it will be on a next gen console possibly?
Generations in the end is a dumbed down, oversimplified classic Sonic game + dumbed down Sonic Unleashed. It’s a great game, but the problem with the modern Sonic gameplay is that if you are a casual gamer who sees using the boost function as punishable and thus unrewarding, chances are you’re not going to get the most out of the gameplay. When you go slow, it’s easy as hell to just get from point A to point B so it’s not too rewarding. However, when the game is played as it is intended to be played, it can be pretty damn hard, but it is rewarding if you like making Sonic go consistently fast. The problem is, there’s nothing in between, and this is kind of how Unleashed daytime stages were better because in spite of some the linear hallway design, the acts were very involving and overall more challenging. In the end, Generations is mostly what Unleashed was lacking (solid platform gameplay), but misses out on a lot of aspects that made Unleashed fun to begin with (the use of Sonic’s skills and a far superior 2.5D level design). Not blinded by the fact Generations IS and anniversary title, which i can say justifies Sega’s strategy for playing it safe. Sonic Team could easily bring the best of both worlds together in a future title.
And I hope they end Sonic 4 at Ep2. Both games are a tragedy and are the biggest joke to the franchise since Sonic 06 and Sonic Genesis.
Adventure series? I’m over that. There are so many mediocre to bad Sonic games that use that formula/engine, and i don’t see it making a return, but i’m open for surprises if it comes back. Actually, i would like to play Sonic 06 once… and maybe a solid version of Sonic Heroes even if the story is dull and questionable and the gameplay is eh.

There is this that i found on facebook. not sure if it’s legit though, but its something : http://i.imgur.com/rvAM8uj.png
Fake. Due to it’s demand, Adventure 3 is the most trolled topic in the Sonic franchise. I don’t even see that picture on Sonic’s official facebook page which is simply facebook.com/sonic, nor do I see it on any news sites.
Amazing…I honestly don’t even know why I’m surprised anymore
The trick Sonic on the box and doing the trip was known but I can see some of this stuff easily happening on accident…I’m sure some of this and the now infamous ‘Knux stuck on wall Egoraptor breaking down’ clip probably have some sort of correlation. It’s funny how Arin was feeling about that moment can work so well in other things…
I’m all for playing very bad games for the lulz and educational retrospective but those load times make it MUCH more unbearable. TBH that is what pushed me to sell the game halfway through S-Ranking the missions. I still can’t believe I even attempted to S-Rank that awful game. There are things I like about Sonic 06 believe it or not but the cons outweigh the pros.
I wonder if PSN or XBL have it as a digital download…if it still has long load times then I don’t even know anymore…
It’s listed on XBL with all of it’s DLC extras, but there is no digital download for it. Only 360 Sonic games you can purchase off Live are Sonic and Sega-All Stars Racing ($20), Sonic Unleashed ($20) and Sonic Generations ($30). Sega said they wouldn’t sell it in stores anymore (or “de-list” it, along with any Sonic games with an average Metacritic score, including Unleashed) so the only way to get it is to find a used copy. Unleashed wasn’t worth de-listing IMO, though I probably would’ve agreed to such a notion after the very first time I played through the game. Ugh, what a terrible experience, haha. But now, after acquiring enough skill to play it decently, I love it.
While using Metacritic as a dumb reason for pulling product is dumb, does it cost money to continue to host something in the store? Maybe they had to pull stuff that wasn’t justifying the hosting price? I dunno just spit balling here.
So…did nobody like Colors? Or did everyone just forget about it? Cause Colors was actually pretty fucking awesome. Especially the space carnival segments, which were just downright gorgeous. Some of the most colurful and awesome visuals I’ve ever seen in a game.
Come to think of it…I can’t say I really even have any complaints about Colors, which is something I can’t say for the other games that have been coming out. Especially in regards to the stages. They were so diverse and awesome.
I don’t think many people who owned Wii’s and played Colors hated it. Colors was the first solid 3D Sonic game in a long time. There are always going to be the 10-15% people who will come out of nowhere and say ‘this game was boring/was worse than (insert sonic game that is clearly much worse)’ but the majority of people enjoyed it. It’s not perfect by any means but the Colors and Generations just further climbs in bringing the franchise out of the hole…right before Ep.2 knocked it back down a couple of feet.
Reason why I didn’t mention Colors (Wii) was because Sonic is even more dumbed down in Colors than he was in Generations. The game being mostly 2D wasn’t an issue. A lot of the levels are designed similar to Sonic CD in the sense that the platforming is so strong, there’s little room within Sonic’s abilities to really go fast in a way that flows well. It’s not a bad game (in fact, I enjoyed it’s overall presentation more than Generations). It’s just not a Sonic game that evolved the Unleashed style gameplay but just nerfed it to a greater extent Generations underwent. In fact, I think the only thing that was new that I really liked about Colors was allowing Sonic to swim which… sort of made the game more Mario-like but did make it more interesting.
I don’t think since Unleashed (or maybe even earlier than that) that every time Sonic could go under water, he was in a 2D plane. If he goes in water in 3D, he dies.
