Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic CD, Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic R, Sonic Advance 1, Sonic Advance 2, Sonic Advance 3, Sonic Adventure 1, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Colors, Sonic Generations, Sonic Episode 1&2, Sonic Riders…
All were enjoyable games. Come to think of it I don’t really understand why this franchise has such a bad reputation when it still has a lot more good games than it does bad.
Well I was pretty young back then and it just came out of no where and timed me out. repeatedly till I just gave in. but, I persevered and managed to finally get past those days.
overall that game too many had too little fun levels. there was just shit i sat through in that game and I’d be wondering why I had to sit through it to get to fun levels like Ice cap.(I think Ice cap is the best level there is actually ) Shit was just dry in that game stage wise.
The bad ones left a huge stink on people that never went away.
As for your list, I personally would drop Sonic 4, and 3D Blast and replace it with the Sonic Rivals series and Sonic Battle. Never played the Bioware RPG so don’t know if it belongs there/
It feels wrong, I don’t like the addition of the homing attack, it’s not needed in a 2D sonic game, the physics are wack, and it’s really easy to homing jump off a ledge because he does it when your near the edge instead of off of it making last second jumps nigh impossible.
And it’s incredibly annoying that a call back to the series early years plays nothing like them.
Valid points. My biggest gripe with the game was that it felt too…floaty? I guess? I dunno, it doesn’t really seem like you have that much responsive control as compared to some of his other games.
I feel like sonic 06 was just Sonic Adventure 3 executed extreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemly poorly. Some changes in areas all around could have probably saved it. I think they should tackle the game type again. Contrary to the popular opinion, i think there is a good game hiding somewhere in there. They just need to try again and take their time.
I don’t blame them. Trying to salvage that train wreck probably would’ve taken waaaay more effort that it was worth. Shit, I remember when I never had a HDTV, the sound on the main menu and CG cutscenes were jumpy and it was impossible to make sense of anything. Ran the game in HD later and the sound worked as it should. How do you fuck that up? or am I missing something here lmao.
There’s nothing wrong with S&K stages. They were just challenging, which is a good thing since S3 standalone was stupid easy, even with the increased difficulty playing as Knuckles. S&K had more platforming and harder enemies, with less autopilot and holding forward/down. Mushroom Hill took it easy on you so could get your feet wet. Flying Battery gave you tons of obstacles and badniks to deal with.and it was a challenge trying to hold on to all your rings. Sandopolis Act 2 would have been a snoozefest without the ghosts; their purpose was to encourage frantic pacing and a sense of urgency. The faster you went, the less likely you would have to deal with ghosts. Lava Reef/Hidden Palace is probably the best Sonic zone ever created, especially with the fight with knuckles. Sky Sanctuary kept things spicy with gauntlet-style boss fights, and Death Egg was a long grueling road to the final boss, which makes sense since it’s the last zone in the game.
I still haven’t managed to get all the emeralds in Standalone S&K.
