No offense to RS3, but I’ll be hype just for the sake of hype~
IIRC in battle royal special charmy bodies one of mammoth mogul’s goons
and when the shit on the floating island was going down he leads the bees to fight against the dark legion?
i told you i went hard on it
I just played the demo. Really good shit. My complaints are minor at best and all have to do with how Sonic Advance 2 the classic style is and how wonky the spin dash is. I also don’t like how Sonic likes to revert to normal running if you’re not holding down all of the time you’re in ball mode. If I’m gonna be blasting to the right at that speed with no idea what’s coming up, I want to be in ball mode for it o_o.
It still left me wanting to play the damn game. Why do I have to wait until November? ;_;
Glad to see a more concrete stage list. Though I’m disappointed with some of the choices. Like…Seaside Hill? Why? Heroes has many more interesting stages. Sky Sanctuary at least makes sense, since that’s kind of an iconic stage from S3&K. Even if I didn’t actually care for it.
I’m glad to see Metal Sonic coming back as a boss again.
You guys aint beating my time on the demo
What’s your time? I’ve read that some have managed to finish it in 45 seconds.
Hahaha oh man i never said i was. But hey get your panties in a bundle over me answering someones question.
i played the demo last night, and I has slight dssapoint.
it was pretty and all. but I really wish i coulda gotten my hands on modern sonic.
classic sonic feels good, but I can see why people are calling his jumping “heavy”, but I really felt like alot of it had something to do with his size relevant to the camera position…i just kept feeling like it wasnt intentional and it can be adjusted to easily.
you couldnt spam revving up the sonic ball like you could in sonic 2., or at least If you could I didnt know how to do it right, seemed like you could only rev it up once and let it go.
over all good sampling but it left me wanting more, cause i’m really just looking forward to more modern sonic than anything.
Loved the demo. That little segment with classic sonic is the way sonic should have evolved into todays gaming gen. It’s what sonic 4 should have been. I just wish the entire game was focused on classic sonic. If its an option im most likely never going to touch the modern sonic section. I like my fuzzy little hedgehog the way I remember him :).
Not gonna happen, but what if Sonic Generations included a level with a ‘fish eye’ lens, paying some homage to Sonic X-treme?

The level design looks horrible in the footage, but the environments and the fish eye camera gave it an interesting look.
If you read about the absolute development hell the Sonic X-treme team went through trying/failing to complete the game before the deadlines (two developers got struck with pneumonia and a mental breakdown), that kind of homage would be a sign that their work wasn’t for nothing.
Hold down and press jump classic style to rev up.
I really liked how the demo was shaping up, but I couldn’t help but get annoyed by some spots. During a loop it absolutely would not let me run normally, I had to spin dash to get through it. This makes no sense considering that during some steep inclines I actually GAIN speed instead of slowing to a crawl. Physics definitely need some polishing, besides that I thought it was great.
what a crappy selection of stages. ugh… sega fk it up once again. WELL DONE! bastards…
Dunno if this was posted as well but…
Xbox Live is running a sale on Sonic games to commemorate the anniversary. Sonic 1, 2, 3, 4, Knuckles, and Adventure are like half off. I picked up Adventure and OG Sonic for the memories of good times as a child.
yeah I read about the history of the development hell that x-treme went through. But jesus christ I cannot for the life of me understand the logic behind most of this level design and the camera. Platforming in this game would have been an absolute nightmare unless you’re doing everything in a slow and methodical manner.
The camera reminds me of Mario Galaxy and those meteor levels in Sonic Adventure 2. It’s more a stylish choice, and maybe it would have helped minimize the polygon pop-up problems back then. Also, I think the Sonic sprite was too big for the environments. In the platforming sections, there’s no room for gaining momentum. He just does a really floaty jump to the next ledge, and that doesn’t look like a Sonic game at all. But it was demo footage and the game was never finished, so who knows how it could have ended up…
I think we all finally agree that Sonic works best in 2D with just a few 3D paths woven in. If you remember that Sat/PS generation, every game tried their damnedest to have full-3D movement, before Mario 64 set a standard for 3D control and level design. If X-treme ever came out, it would’ve been free-roaming and probably boring as hell-- especially since Sonic Team, and basically everyone else at Sega, refused to help them. I think the X-treme engine (and the NiGHTS engine that Sonic Team blocked the X-treme team from using) would’ve looked great with 2D gameplay.
Either way Sega needs to apologize for being complete assholes to that team, if that didn’t already happen.
I played the demo earlier today and I enjoyed it. I loved listening to the remix Green Hill Zone theme. Brought back a lot of great memories. I thought the controls weren’t as responsive as I wanted them to be. It took like a second or two for Sonic to do anything. The way spin dash works now is retarded. I hope they fix that on release.
Not so much sonic related as it is sega related. I wanted to post this up before I went to bed
Yu Suzuki Is Leaving Sega
sad to see him leave sega but they pretty much just had the man sitting on his ass there. He’s got his own company he’s trying to work on now though so hopefully he won’t disappear.
EU PSN and I think US PSN have a sale too: Basically you can purchase all those games for 20 dollars or less.
Dunno if I want to get it though…I’m more intersted in Sonic Adventure 2 than 1.
Generations’ CITY F***ING ESCAPE theme

They should have left the memories alone. The remix is awful.
