I believe SOJ pretty much said that they’re going to be making top quality Sonic games from now on. Sonic Generations being the first game since they’ve made that statement.

No shitty camera angles, no game-breaking glitches, kickass level design, decent challenge, replay value, voice acting that doesn’t suck, amazing graphix, Sonic Colors has it all. Fast as hell too when t wanted to be and, most importantly, great platforming mechanics!
I have to agree. Generations is really the second. It’s unfortunate that Colors was a Nintendo only release. It wasn’t as crazy (in a good sense) and over the top (in a bad sense) like Unleashed HD was, but it was definitely a very favorable Sonic game.
Iizuka mentioned in a pre Generations release interview that he wanted to make a new modern Sonic for 2012. I wouldn’t read into it too much.
I stand corrected. They made that statement after the release of Unleashed.

Heads up for any of you going for all the achievements. For the one where you have to destroy all of the Metal Sonic holograms and the containers you don’t want to get all the time stones as it destroys them for you from then on and the achievement doesn’t pop.
Read Sonic #231 last week. SNAP is this stuff getting good! Issue #232 cannot come out soon enough.
And yeah, Sonic Colors was dope. One of my fav Sonic games. Did anyone ever go through all the work of becoming Super Sonic in Colors?
Speaking of Colors, I prefer to console version of the DS game. Retro Gamer was wrong on this one.
Checking out some Sonic comics, and then I saw this…
#220 was a neat issue, I loved the interaction between the villains and the ‘traitor’.

I think I read somewhere that the management policies have changed greatly since the days of Sonic 2006. Before I think they said working on Sonic Team was slave driving. They had unrealistic budget limits as well as impossible development timelines that the team had no control over which lead to disasters like Sonic 2006 because they never had the time to polish anything.
I think Sonic Unleashed had some poor design decisions but ultimately it looked like it was the start of a reformed Sonic Team finding their footing.
I think from here on out Sonic games are going to be pretty good as long as they remain open to fan input on their decisions.
One thing I like about the Sonic series is that they aren’t afraid to try new things to see what sticks. Sure this has lead to some bad decisions in the past, but as a whole no Sonic game is too similar to another one. I think that’s the reason why Mario has become so stale to me. I think Nintendo plays it too safe with Mario.
I think Sonic can stay safe from that as long as their innovations are minor or in the form of power ups like in Sonic Colors, rather than entirely different gameplay modes such as the Werehog.

I had no idea they still made sonic comics still now I feel old. This is the one I remember having, but forgot where I stopped reading them.
Oldest comics I have are #2 and #3, but the covers might be coming off.
