Yea I’ve never had any luck finding the OVA version of the old Sonic Anime. Totally wanted to see the scene of Sonic flippin Eggman the bird.
And Cash Cash should ditch Auto tune. That shit is terrible. Man…Music from 2000 and onward is gonna be dated as fuck when this auto tune shit finally falls out of favor.

It wasn’t that great. I remember watching it… I hardly remember anything about it.
Sonic OVA is awesome.
I actually like it pretty well. Note that like most Sonic animations it takes some liberties with the story. Nowhere near as many as Sonic Underground or SATAM though. On second thought, aside from the weird additional characters and it taking place in “the land of the sky” this might be the closest to the games any animation has gotten.
In a nutshell the whole thing is kind of a Metal Sonic origin story (even though nothing else from the story is from Sonic CD). If you liked the Sonic CD opening movie then you’ll like the art style because it’s virtually the same here. I remember the voice acting in the english dub was pretty good.
Dunno why Knuckles wears that hat…just try to look past it…
Yeah I wouldn’t say that OVA was spectacular but it’s worth watching at least once if you’re a sonic fan.

Watching through the Sonic Adventure 1 arc in Sonic X and man…it’s pretty dull =P Hope it picks up when Shadow shows up~
Speaking of Shadow, I finally got around to reading Mobius: 30 Years later story arc in Sonic Universe.
The premise is that 30 years after Sonic’s final battle with Eggman he eventually becomes king, marries Sally and they have kids. The main character is actually Knuckle’s daughter JulieSu.
Anyways not to spoil a lot; this alt. reality/future shows just how deadly/terrifying an Evil Shadow can be shivers

I remember being very disappointed in the OVA especially considering it was supposed to be the same animators that brought us this. I’d say they only brought like half their game to that movie animating wise in comparison to that. There were some parts that I did like about it but it felt like a good chunk of the ‘magic’ that went into creating the intro had left. It might not help much that I only saw the movie in english dub which was uhh…left much to be desired imo (Sonic and Tails sound like their noses are eternally stuffed up). I wouldn’t mind checking it out again in japanese with eng sub but I only have the VHS. I may have to look for it at some point.

the old vhs isn’t worth anything really. the first dvd release was just a bare bones release of the vhs dub. thats not worth much either.
The SECOND dvd release has japanese with eng subs, that is the one that goes for a lot with obvious reasons why.

So I’m guessing most of you here are digging Sonic Generations? I don’t have the means to play it yet, but I still plan on buying it when I can. Though the Game Informer review seemed rather… classic Sonic fanboyish. It’s like the reviewer wanted nothing but 2D Sonic stages and screw the later 3D games. Cripes. Even said he didn’t really care for the 3D segments. But I guess GI opinion on Sonic is nothing new. GI has done nothing but piss and moan about Sonic games for 10 years now, much the same way classic loving Sonic fans have. Oy.
Oh and I’m really digging Archie’s Sonic series. The Geneis arc was fun and issue 230 was dope. Can’t wait to see where things go from here.

GI reviews aren’t worth anything anyway. Sega didn’t pay for the better review is what it comes down to.
Once again they mention “unfair pitfalls” which is laughable because Sonic Generations gives you fair warning of the drop offs that will kill you. I think the guy was just plain bad at the game. Every time I died in Sonic Generations it was actually my fault, unlike previous titles like Sonic 06.
I get the impression that he decided to dislike the game purely on their choice of levels. I don’t care if a level came from Sonic 06, the newly redesigned one is a blast. Just because Sonic 06 sucked doesn’t mean Generations does.

The levels complaint is pretty funny. I think it’s odd for him to say “It’s odd that the levels are all rehashes” when the premise for the game is celebrating the last 20 years of Sonic.
