uuh you get the fourth chaos emerald from shadow, so this is GOTY. Theres no way thats a coincidence lol. also pairing “sonic boom” with the metal sonic fight seriously made me play that level over and over and over long after I s ranked it lol. now I just need to unlock the american stardust speedway remix n I’ll be set.
See the issue with this is, you’re saying because because you can walk around in lobbies and there are NPCs this some how makes it Sonic Adventure 3.
I mean only Sonic Adventure 1 had a “Adventure lobby”. The only exception to 2 was the Chao Garden which is not even the same thing as going out and adventuring. I mean even Sonic snowboarding has been in since Sonic 3.
Playing as multiple characters with different styles? Sonic Advance was before 2006 just it wasn’t 3d. Sonic 2006 has stuff from a lot of different Sonic games and mostly it’s own thing like the run stages (which were put in future Sonic games). That doesn’t make Sonic Unleashed Sonic The Hedgehog 2.
It’s a 3D Sonic game with the gameplay itself barely resembling Sonic Adventure and you get to play with more than one character.
Gameplay wise, Sonic Heroes is way closer to Sonic Adventure than 2006.
So I’ve ran through every level and I have to say, the levels just got better and better (boss stages aside - the boss stages are easy-peasy and short, but I find that due to the lack of variety in attacks bosses do over time, better to be short and painless than long and dull). Some people say this game overall is easy, some say it’s hard. Honestly, this game is pretty easy, but it’s not braindead easy. Unlike previous 3D Sonic games I’ve played, I honestly don’t think there was a level I did not enjoy in Generations and there was no level that made me upset. The new modern Rooftop Run… man… it feels so good to go through this stage with a Sonic I can CONTROL. I’ve experienced a few minor mishaps with modern Sonic, but for the most part when I die, I feel like it’s my fault instead of the game’s retarded mechanics/controls.
The levels are astonishingly beautiful and I fucking LOVE Planet Wisp modern. (For now, Chrisis City classic gets an honorable mention.)
This is the best 3D Sonic game I’ve ever played and those games include Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes and Sonic Unleashed. I’ll throw Sonic 4 in there for the lulz. I can’t take 4 seriously. It’s tolerable, but ep1 is so boring and the music is a massive disappointment. I’d rather play Unleashed and run…

til I break the bumper buttons on my controller on that last wall run and fail it 100 times before I save the girl before I play Sonic 4 again.
Please elaborate.
So whats everyone’s over all opinion on Sonic G?
Best Sonic game yet, simply put =)
At the very least give it a rent.
The entire core structure of Sonic 06 and how it progresses was build around the original Sonic Adventure game. The way you progress from level to level by going through the Adventure Fields / HUBs, doing incredibly silly and mundane things in order to get access to the next stage and acquiring / upgrading new abilities. Being able to talk to various NPCs in the Adventure Fields is also a key aspect of the Adventure formula. The comparisons to the original Adventure and Sonic 06 are basically limitless.
The goal of the game was to take what made the formula for Adventure what it was and expand upon it. Hell, there’s even Chao in Space 3 posters scattered around Crisis City. That’s not enough of an allusion to make you think that it’s basically third Adventure game? There sure as hell aren’t any of those in Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog. Even in the re-imagining of the stage in Generations, the Chao in Space 3 posters are there just like the Chao in Space 2 posters are in City Escape.
Irrelevant.
What? So because there are things added to make it different that means it can’t be considered the closest thing to a third Adventure game? The first Adventure didn’t have grinding, but the second one did and that was put in later Sonic games. Adventure 2 doesn’t even have Adventure Fields. Is it suddenly not Adventure 2 anymore? It falls under same category having stuff from a lot of different Sonic games and having mostly it’s own thing.
Please elaborate because this literally makes no sense whatsoever to me. I don’t even see how Heroes and Adventure are comparable.
Regardless of all this, when an actual game titled Sonic Adventure 3 is made then I’ll acknowledge it as Sonic Adventure 3. The same thing with Sonic the Hedgehog 4. Until then tho’, Sonic 06 is about as close as you’ll get and I’m pretty sure that’s what Sonic Team intended.
A game being titled Sonic Adventure 3 doesn’t mean it’ll be good tho’. Sonic 4 is okay to mediocre at best.
I’ll admit, I’m unimpressed with this game. Probably due to the hype surrounding it, I expected a lot more than what it delivered.
- Game’s way too short! My assumption was that the reason so many stages were revealed before the game came out was because there were tons more in the final build. Alas, the only stages featured that weren’t already revealed were
[details=Spoiler] Planet wisp (but it wasn’t hard to deduce that)
Spagonia[/details]
- Later stages were, simply put, too long. Rather than focus on making lengthy stages, I think they should’ve just gone the colors route and make lots of short stages rather than a few long ones. It was better that way since it didn’t feel like you’re just pining to get to the finish.
Other than these issues, and classic’s jump, the game’s overall pretty good. It lacks sufficient content to make it great, though.
How is this possible? Did you play SMG? This is really saying something.
I liked Sonic and the Secret Rings and played a little of Sonic Colors. Is this game better than that?
I wouldn’t say this game is in the realm as SMG at all but that’s my opinion. It’s at least on par if not better than Colors.
When I meant gameplay wise for Sonic Heroes is the gameplay mechanics itself. I suggest playing it to see what I mean or watching some videos.
The way you move, the way you jump dash and how everything reacts to what you do is pretty much the same exact thing engine wise, as Sonic Adventure games.
Yeah I did, however Sonic Generations is the most fun in a game i’ve had in a very long time.
I never got as much fun as I did out of Mario Galaxy as I am with this game.
I do admit I didn’t like Sonic and the Secret Rings and for some reason Sonic Colors didn’t appeal to me. However I liked the DS version of Sonic Colors.
Sonic Generations imo is eons above all Sonic games in the past few years.
What kind of extras are bundled with the game (Sonic Generations)? I know of the music selection and some sort of Challenge Mode.
Getting this regardless, trailers/videos have sold me.
Anyone who isn’t a Sonic fan or even is one should know that the main game is short but most of the replayability will come from trying to collect everything and speed running stages. If that’s not your thing then $50 is probably going to be a bit steep. This game is still great either way.
Edit: Also Woooooww @ Planet Wisp. They did a damn good job on this stage graphically.
Believe me, I always find more than enough replay value Sonic games
I remember hearing stuff about the Sonic characters appearing, just didn’t know if it was a side-mode or the main game.
They are just assists that you have to summon in optional side missions.
Guys, when in the trophy/museum at the far left of the Hub, hold Back/Select for a few seconds.
So what are some of you guys’ favorite stages?
I’ve played Sonic Heroes…with all 4 teams and I got the last ending. I’m very familiar with the way that game plays but we’re talking about the game as a whole. We’re talking about when you put SA and 06 down on paper and start breaking it down to it’s core mechanics and comparing them that it’s pretty much SA3. I feel like we’re going around in circles here so I’m just going to drop it.
PS3 ver. seems to have an odd error pop up whenever you’re in the online modes, I can’t even get the 30 seconds trial to start >=/
I could see generations being better than smg for some if they were sgea/sonic fans in the 90s, and never really cared for how mario plays, or his games. If we are gonna go by which game is the better platformer, smg has more going for it, but i like generations more because i like sonic more.
I hear it does that when you have no records. So until you make one, you won’t get the error anymore.
