That’s one thing I didn’t get at all from those reviews. If they fell into a bottomless pit in a mario game would they automatically complain about it or learn from it’s existence from the first mistake. If you’re playing through a Sonic game and you don’t know the layout of the stages, then it’s inevitable that you’re going to run into shit and fall into bottomless pits. They’ve been there since the begginning and they aren’t going anywhere. They even put warning signs over top of the pits now. If you fall into a pit after it’s flashed up on the screen ‘HEY DUMBASS! SLOW DOWN OR YOU’LL FALL!’ then that’s user error unless the camera just happens to completely turn in the opposite direction of the hole.
Gotta be honest here, that GI review was kinda biased. And who the fuck cares about Norway?!

I want to get SG on pc but it’ll be weird playing sonic on keyboard and mouse so I’ll probably stick to 360.

GT put up their review though I’m not going to link it because I don’t reccommend watching it. They show a good chunk of the cutscenes here and there but they mostly gave praises to the game. They also like some other reviewers said the game was better but still retained flaws…of course this is said while showing a vid of something that they did that could have been completely avoided. They loved the classic stages and enjoyed the modern. They werent completely fond of how the Modern Sonic bosses were done…they thought it brought the worst out in the controls. They ended the review with saying ‘Sonic hasn’t been this good in years’ and gave it an 8.1.

Finally got my hands on it. Redeemed all codes and currently installing the game to my 360 because I don’t want the sound of the disc reads get in the way of the music. Looks like all your music links will be of use to me quite soon, Sonichuman. :3

This game… is so good. SO good. Everybody’s Super Sonic Racing~ I’m fucking ^________________________^ right now about the Genesis era and can’t wait to see what lies ahead.

the game is pretty short if you just do main acts and boss key missions…so im going to take a break and play it later on this week…

I like it. Fat Sonic’s jump arc feels much better than in the first demo, and his controls much smoother than before. 200% better. He was trash in the first one. =\
I’m not gonna make many friends with this next comment, but it’s my honest opinion so here goes: Even with these new buffs, Modern Sonic is more fun to play than classic Sonic.
Modern Sonic plays like he does in Colors and Sonic 4 . . . which means he has more options and abilities. If he had the spindash, he’d be perfect.
Classic Sonic plays like he does in the old Sonic games. I love the old Sonic games (My favorite game in the series is Sonic 3 and Knuckles), but he’s essentially Modern Sonic with less abilities. I guess I’m spoiled by the homing attack from Sonic 4.
Overall, they’re both a blast to play. I’m curious as to why they tried to peg Sonic 4 as a reboot (even though that one was great), when they were just going to make this one the “official” reboot. Oh well.
Disclaimer: I only compare it to Sonic 4 because it was supposed to be a throwback to the classics just like this one, aaaaaand I thought that game was badass. Why everyone hates it, I dunno. Too short? Yeah. Too easy? Hell yeah. But great otherwise.
just snagged my copy! I’m about to pop this shit in, I am so excited to play it because I heard nothing but good things about it. This is my FIRST sonic game I’ve played since sonic rush on the DS :o
I like to think that Modern Sonic feels like a mix of Adventure 2 (when he’s not at max speed, just kinda moving around in 3D, not comparing jumps or including a spin dash), Sonic Unleashed (when he’s boosting at max speed), and Colors (how controllable he is at high speed and generally in 2D). I honestly can’t see (yet) why people complain about Modern Sonic in reviews. Not everyone had their hands on colors and comparing his controls to other 3D games, he’s so damn good in Generations.
