Hey im really hyped for this game but have not checked out the demo yet. I have 1 question though, is the game hard or easy?
I dont want a experience that seems like I can play it in 1 playthrough without much effort, so will this game chanllenge players or be just casual in terms of difficulty?
I don’t think anyone really knows until the game comes out.
Some people have played stages beyond Green Hill at events, but I don’t think anyone in this forum has played any of them. It’s impossible to tell with the demo alone, especially since Green Hill is an introductory stage. Unleashed demo was easy, but the game is illegitimately difficult imo. I heard Colors was easy and being on a Nintendo system, I believe Sonic Team aimed for that due to the target audience being kids, so it could be more challenging this time around. (3DS version on the other hand was looking like autopilot.) Time will also tell what all the game has to offer other than just classic/modern Sonic stages. Here’s to hoping the bonus stages are just as entertaining as this game has been so far. And if there’s anything else, here’s to also hoping it doesn’t take us too far from enjoying Sonic The Hedgehog… something Sega’s been really good at up until Colors was released.
Today, the PS3 version of the demo should be released. Otherwise, next week, US release of Generations for the PC/360/PS3 is out.
I’m not sure quite how to approach this question given the sonic series over the years from beginning to now. The only time I’ve actually really felt that a Sonic game was difficult was when I was either being far too impatient and making dumb mistakes or the mechanics of the game made it so…stares at 2006. Based off what we know of the game I’d say if you’re planning to play this game through with just modern and classic and play to the last stage then I dont think it’s going to be too difficult. If this game actually makes it so that the only way you get the true end is by getting all the red rings and collecting all the chaos emeralds then you’re probably looking at a more difficult and lengthier game for it since you’re going to have to actually search through all of the levels to find them. Then there’s the other 5 challenges that go with each stage and we don’t know exactly what those could be…One of them could very well be a race against the clock to the finish that the only way you can beat is if you do everything perfectly.
Most of the challenge will come from doing speed runs though.
I stopped playing sonic games after heroes…that game made me cry a bit deep down inside and start to hate the franchise. I honestly dont know what to expect from this game and to be honest im a old school sonic fanboy so when I was reading about classic sonic’s jump being messed up and not really feeling like classic sonic I was a bit worried. If classic sonic doesnt function like his classic self do you guys think old school fans will turn away from this game?
It’s surprising how unforgettably bad heroes was. I feel like I was a bit motivated to get it because it was the first Sonic game not on a Sega system.
And a part of me kinda misses Sonic’s SOAP kicks from SA2. Still, nothing can replace the originals.
Till this day, I look down sometimes when I see Sonic grinding…“This guy’s grinding with flip flops on.”
Hope the game doesnt turn out too easy. It’ll def detract from the game, for me…It’s the same case with the Zelda franchise…junk is just too easy now. There’s only so much fun you can have if you arent being challenged.
Classic Sonic’s jump isn’t perfect and the physics still aren’t quite there and if you play any of the genesis classics then play classic sonic in generations you’ll definitely know. That being said though it’s the closest that it’s going to be for a long time. These aren’t Sonic 4 physics…they are clearly better. In all honesty it’s just something that’s going to take some time for you to get over like I have. I’m trying to meet Sega halfway here since it seems that they’re actually trying to do things right. I personally don’t think there will be nearly as much of reasonable fan outcry over this game as there was with Sonic 4.
And is someone talking badly about Sonic Heroes? I don’t think I can condone that, that game is fun, especially the Egg Fleet level. Running at the edge of the earth’s atmosphere aboard battleships? Hell yes.
