Wait, did they announce a Final Rush level remake?
Wow, they literally ripped the exact classic Sonic 1 Green Hill stage and threw it in the 3DS version. I dunno how I feel about that except it seems like classic 3DS (from a visual perspective) gets a more classic-like environment. The console version of the classic stages feel so enormous making Sonic feel so small, and that’s not a bad thing or anything, just citing the differences.
When i first played the console version of classic Sonic, at first i was expecting something just like the 3DS version, but now I’m glad how they made the console version (probably doesn’t help that lately I have been playing the classic games so now it’s nothing really new lol.)
Modern Sonic doesn’t look fun at all in the 3DS version.
Totally up in the air what I want to buy for next month: Generations, or UMvC3…=/
Well… if you’re big on tournaments I’d say UMvC3 unless you’re like Floe or Chrisis who went without owning the game for long periods of time and still placed high. If you’re in some kind of community, then at least you can still play it.
An impressive project (this has likely already been posted, apologies if this is the case):

Unless of course we have alternate accounts. Which we do by the way! Well I do. Everyone should. So much cool free stuff to get on the other region’s stores.
I’m feeling their vector-trace base/uber looks over their final looks. The finals just seem to stray too far from the original and even though their final changes are subtle, I probably feel this way because I pay too much attention to detail. The original sprite to me is perfect, whereas the vector traces look to be the best way to “improve upon perfection” IMO. I’m sure most Sonic 2 fans would like this, and I’m also curious about what the OST would sound like. But my only question is… if the end result of this game is to make someone’s personal artistic expression come alive through the exact same game as the original (assuming there are no gameplay alterations/additions/substractions)… why? I think it’s a cool idea if one wants to doll up one of the best Sonic games of all times… but who is this supposed to reach out to? Do it’s pretty looks intend attract the newer generation of Sonic fans? Is it supposed to give something unique but familiar to the older generation who (like me) started on the first games and already loved everything about it? I find that kind of tough seeing that when Sonic 2 was released, it was graphically superior to anything of it’s time. Though this new game looks smoother, the original was a lot smoother than the first Sonic Game, and many other Genesis titles - it was graphically the benchmark which is a unique achievement in itself IMO. I just have to wonder what will make this game special other than it being painted in HD… and forgive me if this is long-winded. Blame it on the alcohol.
They’re doing something that I wish Sega themselves would do sometime in the future besides just putting a blurry filter on the game and calling it a day. Even still though I probably wouldn’t even trust them to just do that…I can see them handing over a project like that to dimps and then they completely mess up the physics.
Did the demo drop today?
From what I’m reading on facebook, it says:
blogs.sega.com
Today we are excited to confirm that a second demo is incoming for Sonic Generations! Best of all, it’s coming really really soon – like really soon! The second demo for the game will be available via Xbox Live Arcade on 19th October and PlayStation Network on 25th October for North America! You’v…
But when you click the URL and read the news, it says the 18th.
… and I stayed up all night waiting for the demo which hasn’t been released yet… looking into it,
I guess it’s safe to assume that it’ll drop tomorrow. It’s noon now on the West Coast and I know stuff usually drop between 3am and noon. Can’t say I’m looking forward to it as much now.
Hopefully this isn’t the same build as the last demo =_=
Aside from getting to play modern Sonic, what would be the difference in the last demo of classic Sonic and this one? That was all the way back in July, right? Seeing as the game is right around two calendar corners from today (14 days left) wouldn’t the demo be based off the final build? It seems this won’t be a temporary demo either.
Edit: Just got word the demo is up… logging into XBL right now to confirm… aaaand, I don’t see it. A few people on FB see it through the Game Marketplace (where I’ve been like all night and day). wtf… o_O
EDIT AGAIN: Okay, it’s up. LOL
EDIT AGAIN: nvm this demo doesn’t reflect the final product… in their disclaimer.
I wanted to get my hands on the demo but my gold membership expired cant download it
Wait what? You need gold for Demos? I thought that was only for online play…Fuck my Gold expired last week…I need to renew it.
^Well my understanding is, if ur Gold, u get it on the 18th, otherwise everyone else gets on the 19th for XBL.
SLAMS FIST ON TABLE
WHERE ARE MAH REVIEWS PEOPLE…
Oh that’s all? Whatever then.
Oh cool then so i can get it tomorrow! good…
WOAH WOAH WOAH
Looks like JP PSN will have the demo THIS WEEK, hopefully this is true.
Yeah XBL owners check on the 19th you may get it as I haven’t read anything about the demo being Gold exclusive
So this demo is different than the previous demo and below are things I’ve found in comparison to the old and just my general impressions of it.
Spoiler
The first major difference in the game that’s notable is the implementation of Omachao (here’s to hoping for an option to turn him off). Secondly, classic Sonic doesn’t have animations for when he’s standing on the edge of something. Some of the enemy ladybugs are aggressive and will charge at Sonic on sight. Looking up and down doesn’t seem to work. Technically to open a powerup box, you don’t have to jump on it, you can simply land on it to open it which also results in putting Sonic in a spinning state when he bounces off of them. There are no Flickies in destroyed botniks. I know it was mentioned before that Sonic could jump by letting go of the jump button… doesn’t seem to exist in this build for both classic or modern Sonic. Modern Sonic seems kind of patient… as in it takes him a while to animate sometimes? But he seems to have various animations before he lays down. I can’t compare this to Colors, but compared to Unleashed, modern Sonic seems a lot easier to control. On the topic of controls, his controls in general are more simplified. Modern Sonic (compared to Unleashed) can collect rings he’s dropped. Outside of the game, there are less options than the previous demo (unless you have a 3D TV perhaps). this one’s just start the game and choose classic or modern green hill. There really isn’t much else to say, but overall - this is looking good. I will be happy to take any questions.
If I were to be picky… (and I will be) there’s one thing I miss about controlling classic Sonic that was in the old games that I wish was in this one. In the old games, if you wanted to bounce higher off of an enemy you jumped on the enemy while holding down the jump button for either style or to get higher. That sense of controlling Sonic was never a bad thing and with it gone, it means to get places by hopping on enemies results in a bit of a challenge. However, I’m rather pleased overall with the rest of the differences (running out of a spin when he slows down, being slowed down for jumping on enemies while running at top speed or slowing down in general for jumping while running at top speed). Classic Sonic is actually a bit easier to control than his Genesis version and I look forward to seeing just how future stages challenge that fact.
The one thing I don’t like about controlling modern Sonic is when he jumps, he is committed to the direction he’s facing. It’s a small price to pay when his back is turned to danger since homing attacks don’t work on enemies behind you in 2D, but I’m guessing there’s probably a good reason for this. Overall, based on the demo stage, I’m pleased with how he feels (compared to Unleashed). In Unleashed, modern Sonic in 2D felt like ass when he had to move at slow speeds (like he always should be moving forward) but now he’s much better. At high speeds in 3D, I think the best thing that’s improved other than a better overall sense of controls is his stopping distance. His stopping distance before reminded me of Sonic in the 2-player mode of Sonic 3… actually, worse than that lol. He doesn’t stop on a dime, but he doesn’t stop like he weighs like a hummer going 300mph to 0. Definitely more like a Pagani Zonda R Racecar where the only way to stop faster… is to hit a tree. (Or in Sonic’s case, some spikes.)
