I don’t know if Batsugun is one of the fixed ones, but this guy has been tweaking drivers to get many issues with shmups on MAME fixed. I don’t know if it’s true or not about Ketsui and some of the other hard to find roms, as I don’t have a board to dump the rom, but I too have heard that some long-missing/sought-after games are now working in MAME.

I have been waiting years for this game to have sound. So many times I have been on ebay or elsewhere, playing a game of chicken with my wallet for the Saturn version of the game. Now that it has sound I just saved myself a lot of money, only hard part is getting it to magically work. I will give shmupmame a try though.
Any impressions on Hard Corps Uprising? If it’s a real Contra game, I can overlook the visuals (not a fan of Arc’s aesthetics-- especially in a Contra game, which is supposed to be a sci-fi version of Arnold/Sly classics)
It plays as stiff as you remember! So far so good. I like being able to bullet reflect and dash. Too bad we can’t get a Metal Slug like this. Oh SNK. You suck fucking balls.
Yo. Anybody here playing this DLC game called Acceleration of Suguri x edition? It’s pretty…well, weird. I haven’t put down much time on it yet, but the game seems to play completely different from anything I remember. Still, I could use a good shooter fighter style game. Something with robots like Zone Of the Enders with more moves. I just wanted to check in with my fellow shooter fans. make sure you shoot someone or something tonight. :tup:

So, Akai Katana headed for Xbox 360 in Japan, May 26th.
Here’s hoping for a region free release, otherwise I’ll probably break down and finally buy a Japanese 360. Already have Muchi Muchi Pork & Pink Sweets pre-ordered, but Akai Katana has had my attention for a while now.
This is my first time hearing about [media=youtube]yEiueb6RHIQ[/media], and it’s supposed to be a worldwide XBLA release. This is a great year to get shot that’s for sure.
I remember playing a PC version of the game that was like that, and another that was more like the traditional horizontal shooters. If it had online play and I had a PS3, it’d probably pick it up.

It would be nice. The game looks extremely stylish and the smoothness of the sprites reminds me of the same quality of 3S and Metal Slug. With 16:9 support, its gonna look glamorous.

Just downloaded Hard Corps:Uprising the sequel to my favorite shooter ever it better not disappoint!
Yeah, I was kinda wondering about my decision when all the region-free stuff got announced, but honestly, Ketsui, DFK/BL, and probably this (we’ll see though) have been more than enough to justify it. Especially Ketsui.
btw, a but OT, but I just noticed you were in KC. You ever go to any of the KC tournaments? We could totally have a side setup with shooters and try to get more converts 
I actually did that at one Max Out and got some people playing Ketsui. Though MvC3 hype is gonna overtake pretty much everything for a while…
