I doubt there’s anywhere in Osaka that has it, but if I stumble across one I can let you know. Is that a seimitsu?
That Ikaruga model is apparently not for sale. Not sure if it was at some point or if the creator just made it for himself.
Deathsmiles is a dope game that you should pick up. But you’re going to have to import a Japanese 360 to get your hands on it unfortunately, since it is Japan-regioned. If you don’t already have a next-gen system I’d say it’s worth it personally since Deathsmiles, Raiden IV, Mamoru-kun and (hopefully) Ketsui are all solid games, and if Dodonpachi Daioujou Black Label gets patched decently it will also be recommendable. These are all JPN-regioned so you can’t play them on a US console. I have a feeling the next game CAVE is going to release on console will be Futari as well, so it’ll be worth it to pick that up.
Mushihimesama Futari Black Label is one of the best shooters to come out this decade IMO. It’s definitely on my top 10 of shooters. So check out that replay while it’s still up!
Yeah. I know Mak! Japan sell them but I almost never see them on Y!JP.
Also, I went ahead and bought a modded HRAP2 which works on 360s. I have to mod it further (the guy kept the Sanwa stick and Hori parts) but I think the end result will be worthwhile.
I ordered the goddamn Deathsmiles Hori stick but it’s not even out til June which makes no sense whatsoever. Really I should just buy a new stick, especially now that my EX2 is out of comission. : /
I was tempted to get one of those, but didn’t want to wait. There’s the HRAP EX SE too, but that’s around $230 before shipping. The modded HRAP2 for 360 cost me 12,500 yen before shipping.
I actually prefer using this over HRAPs in general, though. The size is appropriate for my desk, the Seimitsu stick/buttons are fine, and it’s nice to look at. The only issue I ahve with it is the bottom left screw gets in the way. As for my Supergun, I’m currently set with an all-Seimitsu HRAP1 but I’d really like to track down a 9000TB, since they go together, and the 9000TB’s smaller in both areas.
'm looking forward to my lot of PS2 shmups. I’m crap at horis, so perhaps I should start with Gradius 3. I’ve already gotten the first stage down from MAME. After I end up getting my 360 HRAP sorted out, I’ll start focusing on R-Type Dimensions. All of this will probably be put on hold for when Death Smiles comes out, assuming the port is good.
Fingers are crossed for Deathsmiles. I think there will be some slowdown issues, and I’m particularly worried about the ice palace and canyon given that they are full of suicide bullets which track towards you. But if the game handles well there, we’re in good waters. No load time already confirmed = yay!
I bought Galaga Legions from Amazon over the weekend and I really enjoy it. The controls are just perfect honestly and the game is just too cool. We need more shmups that are just too cool. Not going to count Space Invaders Extreme as I already own it and to me the DS isn’t suited for hardcore gaming. Thing just gets uncomfortable after awhile. So I wish that more shooters moved the trigger button to well, the Right trigger on a controller.
Someone better effing bring this over here. DDP BL and Death Smiles are already out for 360 in Japan, right? But knowing Cave, the games are probably region-locked, even though they could’ve done the opposite and made MOAR MONAY from importers. Argh.
I picked up Deathsmiles early today and I can tell you that it is a REALLY well done port. High-res and with plenty of modes. So worth the money IMO. A few problems with slowdown but nothing game-breaking I don’t think.
That’s very good news. Although, I was given the impression that it was a professionally done port even prior to the release of it. Just had a feeling, and even moreso after watching the gameplay trailer.
Also, haha, people still hoping for US releases. Yes I’m sure they’re going to release games with characters like these:
All CAVE really needs to do is change the ages of the characters in the instruction booklet. Wouldn’t be a huge deal. Same with Mushihimesama, who I think is supposed to be 13 lol.
Yeah, I had faith in DS once I learned that someone with ties to MS was porting it with CAVE. Plus the regularly updated Japanese blog was a confidence builder. Like…if it sucked you knew the full name of the guy who fucked it up so…that’s accountability! haha
Fuck though, CAVE is sitting on money it could have. I’ll never get it.
