The shooter games thread returns! The Empire Of Ammo says, EVERYBODY GETS SHOT!

October 23rd. Annoyingly far off.

Honestly I don’t think it would at all. Arcade owners don’t seem to care much if they use the Japanese versions of games. I’m pretty sure any arcades or people interested in the games can easily get them if they wanted. Maybe if Cave actually communicated better with arcades in other countries they could get more sales. But Cave is pretty bad at communicating with arcade owners even inside of Japan, so that’s probably not going to happen.

Ketsui and DOJ at least. And the important thing is not that they don’t port the games, but that they COULD port the games in the future, as is the case with Ketsui now. If Ketsui were emulated, there’d be far less money to be made in a port.

Arcade mode IS better from a depth and technical standpoint, since there is a lot more stuff that is important to scoring and survival than the other modes. Arrange mode is very easy to get into and a lot of fun, but it’s not really super complicated or deep, and a lot of things that are important in Arcade mode you can easily ignore. Black Label is just kind of retarded in my opinion, but then I just can’t see buzzing making any sense as a major scoring mechanic in the game… it just doesn’t fit at all. And of course both alternate versions have 0 rank control for survival, since you can always just bombaah to drop it back down to minimum if you need to, and you’ll never need to suicide for survival at all.

Really my only serious complaint about Arcade mode is the weapon system… since enemies are constantly dropping machine guns, it’s a constant game of trying to avoid picking them up so you don’t power yourself down. But that’s Raizing for you I guess. My other complaint is that it’s just hard to keep track of shit on the screen since things are constantly trying to ram into you, and explosions obscure stuff a lot of the time. Unfortunately, having the PS2 version makes this 2x harder than it should be anyway.

TF6 site is up http://thunderforce.sega.jp/

That’s definitely a remix of TF3’s Gorgon stage. There’d better be a remix of that stage’s music as well.

There’s also a remake of TF5’s first stage. Ditto on the remix of that music too.

I am soo fucking stoked to get this. I wish NCSX would hurry up and make preorders available…

Same. Play-Asia has got theirs up already.

Christ… has it been 25 years. Well, i’ve been jonesing for this for years, esspecially after the illfated TF6 that was supposed to come out some time ago and the unofficial Thunder Force game that was never released.

Now all we need is Gradius 6 (PS3) that was cancelled ;(

Yeah, it’s been 25 since the series was started… Although, 19 years since the vast majority of us gamers here in the United States got into it, with the Genesis ver of TF II.

Oh shit son!

Not just Thunderforce! Sega has two other STGs in the works it looks like

Sweet, I’m going to echo the sentiments of one of the comments on that page and hope that they aren’t bullet hell games.

An update for Aleste or _______ of Thunder would be sweet.

I think Aiky owns the rights to Aleste right now. Lords of Thunder and Gate of Thunder I believe are both Hudson Soft. I guess sequels to those depend mostly on Sega’s relationship with those companies.

I really would rather have Axelay 2 instead. Not over Thunderforce 6 but the other rumored projects.

Axelay was made by Konami and only released on the SNES though …

OMG. If I can get a PS3 version of Axelay, I’d seriously want to go hug the Konami staff. I’d grab them the biggest bottle of Sake and EVERYBODY GETS A SHOT!!! Right now I’m trying to find a job so that I can get some greens and enhance my videogame collection, shooters in particular. On top of that TV is so piss poor that more and more of my soul rots every hour or so. I gotta get the hell outta this city. Anybody know where I can grab an overfed fighter jet or interstellar vessel to fly the hell outta dodge?

LOL, just found a video on NicoNico douga which mocks the 360 version of Shikigami no Shiro III.

Apparently there are only like two score records registered in the entire live database, namely because the system requires that you 1CC the game to register your score. An extremely difficult task. I can get to the first part of stage 4 without continuing but after that it’s just death after death.

It didn’t help that the game, like most 360 shooters, sold so bad in Japan.

HeartNana, did you get any further with this game?

fuck. I don’t wanna 360!! I don’t wanna 360!!! But why is it that Sega seems to show the most love to shooters? Well, I’m sure computer games too, but sega systems on the whole show mad love to a genre that doesn’t always get a good light amongst videogamers. can’t hate on that.

New Gradius for Wiiware.

Dude. Just get a 360 already. Get that 20gig one now. You need to get shot with us fellow 360 owners (and in my case: soon to be). And Sega loves the weird and off beat and niche. Not as much as they used to since they need to pay dem bills and are no longer number 1 or 2 in the market, even as a third party.

I guess I don’t really have a choice. It’s shoot or don’t shoot, and I’ve gotta shoot.

…Man, Andy Dick looks like he got shot. in the face. with every drug in the alphabet. twice.

Question about this: Is the DS version a boss-rush, or are there actual stages? It’s really late and I’m thinking half-straight, but I don’t believe I’ve seen a video that’s shown anything other than boss fights.
