Wow I haven’t heard that one since watching True Lies >_>
Sequel to DDP-DOJ! DoDonpanchi Daikkatsu
http://cave-gameshow.cocolog-nifty.com/aou2008/
Somebody translate plz, but it gonna have the official announcement at AOU (2/15).
Yes! A sequel to my favorite shmup series! I was afraid Cave was done with it after DOJ and Cave looked to have jump on the loli-cute wagon, but this makes me happy and sad at the same time.
Happy: New DDP. Badass.
Sad: I’ll probably never get to play it
Happy again: Hey, at least DDP-DOJ is getting a 360 port, so theres hope.
Found a small clip. All I got to say is “Epic”
Not much more info in the article than what you posted. They just said that they’re gonna make a game that won’t dissapoint anyone. That game looks FUCKING godly. And I suck at shooters. Like, I can’t get past level 3 in Shikigami no Shiro III. But I’ll still play that, because I’m probably the only one in this ho with a Japanese 360.
Been playing some touhou, imperishable night, cho ren sha, and blue wish resurrection. Also, ikaruga is legendary :wgrin: http://www.coolflashgames.fr/Shoot-Them-Up/Flash-Ikaruga,80.html
Best gametype ever, second only to fighters.
Fuck yea, man. DDP is the greatest.
Does anyone remember Phalanx on SNES? My parents were too poor to afford it, so I could only rent it once. It’s been 15+ years since I’ve played the original, but I’d recommend it just for messing around. It’s probably on the easier side, but since there are so many levels, it will take a while to beat. I remember the graphics were ahead of its time for 16-bit. Years later after hording my quarters I bought Zero Divide on PS1 thinking Phalanx is on there as a cheat. However it’s only ‘Tiny Phalanx’, which is like a demo sized portion of the game. I felt robbed. Even more so than when I bought ‘Death Bots’ on NES, where the game was notorious for not working out-of-box. It wasn’t even a licensed Nintendo game, from what I remember.
Phalanx was awesome. I play it often.
I used to play it a lot too.
Roms/Emus… I really need to write a thank you letter to all those hard working programmers.
Here’s what I’m playing, now.
Zanac X Zanac (PlayStation)
Hyper Duel (Saturn)
One of my favorite developers is Compile. If you haven’t really delved into their catalog of games, I humbly suggest you do. They created the Zanac series, and Guardian Legend, to name a few.
Here’s a profile on alot of their games; http://hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/aleste/compile.htm
Also, I just got hip to a fucking awesome Doujin title, called Ether Vapor.
Yes Shade, Ether Vapor is sweet. They should work on it some more and pitch it to Microsoft/Sony as a download for XBLM/PSN. I’d like to see it on the PSP personally.
Speaking of PSP/Sony. Super R-Types has been rated by the ESRB. Sony must be gearing up to release a whole lot of new shit in the coming months. As they should. Most of the stuff on the PSN for the PSP is so blah. We want obsure shit that we missed out on.
About to play through every Gradius game in the series fucking possible. And not only each game, bu as many of the versions of each Gradius possible.
Wooooooo, wish me luck!
Speaking of which, I just recently discovered fucking Gradius Gaiden. Shit looks epic. The 2D pinnacle of the series, it’s said. Has any Shmup-fan here played it?
I can’t get into Gradius. Only one I enjoyed was the 3D tunnel one in ZoE2. Seriously. I’ve tried but I hate that you have to pick up an item to switch to the item that you want. Everything else about the game I do enjoy though. Good luck dude. You’ll fucking need it. You got Gradius V too?
I’m gonna do the same for R-Type one day. I just need Sony to drop Super R-Types and I have rom and emu for R-Type III and R-Type Leo. I own Delta and Final. I wonder if Gallop counts as well? Heck why not. So R-Type, R-Type 2, R-Type Leo, Gallop, R-Type III, R-Type Delta, and finally, R-Type Final. This can lead directly into R-Type Command. What a bizarre finisher.
Try to get a hold of Lifeforce. It is a gradius game, although it doesn’t have the name. It was for the NES.
::Salutes::

I find it to be a most excellent primer for rookies. And hell, I learned a thing or two. :china: And even if you do know everything, it’s nothing like seeing the joy on people’s faces as they talk about shooting/getting shot.
http://www.youtube.com/user/shmupnut - Check out his page for videos of shit getting shot and now reviews from Shoot The Core.
The Ether Vapor review is dead on. I really do like this game a lot. I’ll probably buy a copy just to support them. The fact that it goes from a horizontal shooter into a panzer dragoon lite and finishes that off with a space harrier view is just too cool. and the weapons still work all the same. Just genius. I’d also like how your partner shows up in the third stage to fight another boss in the background. And in the next stage she lends light support with missiles and ups the support against the main boss in that stage. It works well. Not overpowering (naturally) but enough where you see that little boost in damage being dealt to the boss’s health meter.
Always loved shumps but haven’t played them in awhile. I see 2 are coming to the Wii this month, Heavenly Guardian and Castle Shikigami 3. I’ve heard many good things about Shikigami but nothing much about Guardian. Are these worth picking up? I think both combined is only like $50.
Good find
Lately if I have a few minutes to spare I’ll throw in a game of Galaga for the hell of it. Simple and fun game.
Ive never heard of Heavenly Guardian but Shikigami is awesome.
the tetris boss in Shikigami 2 is driving me insane!!
Great fucking post, Furry.
