^Neither do I. We need more none bullet hell shmps to balance things out. It’s funny that as fancy as that game looks it still lacks in comparison to Einhander’s animation. In that video we see a bigger ship lose it’s armor to become a smaller ship. In Einhander we would have saw the enemy craft get hit and list to the side like it was hit by a fist and then it would lose that first layer of armor. Damn it boys that’s why Einhander is still a classic to this day.
And on that note Sine Mora is coming out March 21st exclusively to XBLA. I’m sure it’s only timed exclusive but it is what it is. I’ll probably buy it outright if it’s 800 points (which is what i expect).
I swear. It’s like EVERYONE wants this game, but what does Square do? Final Fantasy…Yeah, I don’t keep up with the numbers either. It AIN’T gonna end anyways, but the Einhander legacy MUST continue!!!
I just introduced a friend of mine to Einhander. The first time I just showed him a video of level 1. When he got home he downloaded the soundtrack. The next time I saw him I supplied him with the game. He loves it naturally. Only a person without eyes, ears, and hands wouldn’t (because it’s impossible for them to). So keep telling people about the game. She’s a classic. And as Einhanderesque as Heaven Variant seems to be it’s actually quite a bit different and I really recommend that you guys give the developer’s website a visit to get more insight on the game’s direction.
I really LOVE the Einhander story and I absolutely see no reason for a direct sequel. The ending with the obliteration of Selene’s forces and earth just in total ruins only leads to peace. At that point I see both sides coming together for survival of the species. I feel that the pilot brought peace through his futile revenge. BUT!
There was a war before Einhander and that’s ripe to be dug into. I’d love to see some of the bosses and what not in mass fighting what I imagine must have been gorgeous Selene fighters and robots. It could be a cool way to do multiplayer with four people and their specific craft fighting together. Give the game a larger scope to fit in all the action and there could be some cool carnage. Like a way of doing a fighter squadron in a 2D shmup.
OR
Remake Einhander: I actually posted in this thread a long long time ago about how Einhander could be remade with new levels that fill out the narrative. For one I’d love to see a snow stage and an intro level that has you going to the North or South pole to destroy some communication array that leads into how you sneak into the Earth Captial city. We could get a stage instead of CG sequence where we fight off all the EOS unmanned fighters that happens after stage 6 (you’d get a stage bonus for killing them all). We could visit a Geo Thermal plant (an excuse for a firey cave stage) at some point. Maybe take the concept of the underground city a little further (in level 1 there is a secret path that takes you under the streets to see decaying buildings supporting the beautiful city above) and have you just fly through a deserted and flooded city. And of course, let us fight Selene at the very end for real. Play that jazzy outro song while the credits scroll and we just take out as many of Selene’s ships as possible, culminating in a 30 second boss fight and depending on if you survive or not you get a better or worse ending. Give us a couple of more figthers to choose from including the EOS.
Either way the Einhander universe is one of the richest in the shmup genre and it will always be a terrible shame that Square doesn’t do something with it.
Not because that’s ‘unimpressive’ but that you think we are elitist around here. We are the internet’s coolest gang of shmup fans around. Are motto is that everyone gets shot. We don’t care if you are good or bad but as long as you are having fun we are happy. I don’t even bother 1ccing shmups like a used to but I still have fun and that’s what matters most.
So props my dude, most people can’t say that they can 1cc anything.
