The Shinobi Secrets: Ibuki Video Thread

UK represent!

EDIT: I just KNOW F-Word is better than that, tournament pressure for sure. I should have been there! Definite a 5-5 match-up.

Neither of us know this match-up, you gotta be kidding me! Ah well, not knowing the match-up makes for an interesting match!

Izuna dono (Ibuki) vs. x Mini Ninja x (Blanka)

Aw man~! Jimmy sure is annoying, good thing we can punish those Blanka balls!

Neither of your links work, and I know the claw MU fairly well, so I could probably help.

fixed! sorry about that, I’d love your help!

OK I watched both matches.

  1. Stop doing combos that aren’t hitconfirm into neckbreaker. If you are unsure or can’t react well enough to do the proper combo on hit or not, then use lk or mk tsumiji as your combo ender.

  2. On vega if you do the kunai vortex and you hit him while he is ducking do not do cl lp unless you are perfectly close to him which does not happen when you go to the other side of him. OR use cl lp if you hit him perfectly meaty which case he will be standing.

  3. After a sweep do NOT jump and try to use kunai that is obvious that you won’t cross up. Blanka Ex Ball always beats kunai vortex by the way.

  4. Versus Vega the more space you give him the worst off you are. If he techs your throw that is bad news for you so try not to put yourself in situations where he will tech like obviously grabbing him or where he could obviously escape by grabbing you. Try to frame trap him and punish his OS tech attempts. This match depends greatly on how well you could pressure him and how damaging your combos are, because playing footsies against Vega with Ibuki is very very one sided (as in very bad for Ibuki and good for Vega).

1.2: I know these, I just messed up during those matches. Offline I don’t have this problem, but thanks anyway! vs. Blanka I knew that my opponent wouldn’t punish me, so I didn’t mind. Totally forgot his Ultra I was overhead, or that he was even using Ultra I.

3: You can cross-up after a sweep with a Kunai… and Ex ball doesn’t always beat her Vortex =/

4: Never thought it was so bad for Ibuki. I thought giving him space is OK 'cause of air-grab? Hmm, Ibuki has a very slow overhead and his jabs beat Ibuki’s so I’m don’t know how to stay in with her, especially when he can reversal with an EX bar.

I’m wondering is why my throw went over this reversal, I can’t reproduce this~
Want I want to know against Claw is what beats what, or if there’s anything obvious to punish with Ultra II after block. EDIT: Been thinking, can I Ultra II him if I focus his overhead claw attack (the one instead of the Izuna Otoshi)?

  1. I’m talking about the sweeps and the distances you were at for them in the videos, and regardless, sweep leaves an untechable knockdown that is faster in comparison to her other untechables, so you have to have really good execution and be close enough to get a real cross up kunai (not just where your body goes to the other side). And Ex Ball has a really big hitbox and invincibility, so if you do it anywhere near him he will hit you.

  2. It’s weird cause it is that bad for Ibuki, but it’s just as bad for Vega when Ibuki is in. Vega’s fastest attack not including grab is 4 frames, and he has zero attacks with I frames except for U2. Yes you could focus dash into U2 from focusing his claw attack although good Vega players will never ever give you that opportunity to. Also if you do a real cross up kunai a certain way his U2 will beat it, and take a good chunk out of your life. So cross up kunai’s can be risky. CD mix ups work really well, especially on wakeup.

Aha! No IFs, I thought there’d be some gold somewhere! Yeah, as long as you do the Kunai from the front-side the Ultra shouldn’t be Auto-Corrected, I look out for that all the time. Same with EX Ball I guess, as long as it’s done from the front-side. Was doing some training and I can’t find any Hashinsho punishers besides the focus dash, I guess it’s an Ultra I choice from now on.

Thanks, glad to know. =)

Thanks, glad to know. Gunna have to do some poke comparisons later.

Just a quick match where EX Raida saved the day. I never get tired of how great that special can be.

@ Izuna- The first section is me fighting Vega. So you can see some of the useful tactics that you have vs him.

Decided to pick up Ibuki quite some time ago, just now getting online with her.

Critiques welcome

^ any reason why you don’t like to use her target combos?

Do the Kunai much faster when you do the forward throw, or move back a step first. =)

Absolutely NEVER jump forward with a Kunai no matter who you’re fighting, even Makoto will punish the crap outta that! EX is fine due to how she drops and that fact that it beats focus, but yeah, keep this out of your game.

If you have a clear punish, use her TC4. The combo you’re using is great but it’s a waste; also, why would you decide to use Tsumuji instead of neckbreaker if you’re going to give up on the pressure? It makes no sense!

EX Kunai for finishing chip-damage should be guaranteed after U2.

The key to ruining El Fuerte’s game is backdashing; punish all of his flops with cr.MP xx Special if you like. =)

If you see him doing the slide when you’re getting up, block it instead for a free punish!

You’re great with the SJC so I don’t want to say this, but you get many more chances to use Ultra 1 as a clean punisher in this match up.

Of course, you probably already know half of this, and I’m not exactly perfect atm either; nevertheless, that’s all I have! =)

^ it really depends when you’re backdashing. Keep in mind that simply mashing backdash during his pressure game could result in a good Elf countering with U2. If you mean backdashing to stay spaced, then that’s okay.

What do you mean by “flops”?

Good Elf’s will not cancel their Habdash into slide (HK). That’s -9 on block and obviously incredibly punishable. Instead, they’ll cancel their Habdash into nothing (LP) and then do cr.HK, which looks almost the same as Habdash into slide but is only -1 on block. And you won’t be able to punish that unless you pick U1, and even then you have to like anticipate it and buffer your ultra.

I pick U2 for this matchup because any correctly blocked Tostada = U2 punish. What else besides his slide do you plan on U1 punishing?

I’m only thinking of the slide actually. By flops I mean whenever you backdash outta Vortex. Though, I’m pretty sure you’ve played against MUCH better Fuertes; I’ll upload a video of mine. I used to have a lot of issues before, but there’s something bout his wall-bounce that I’m forgetting.

I’m just trying to help, probably much worse than you are atm. Just so that you don’t think I’m rude or anything! ^^

I just run around like a chicken against fuerte… Spam different forward dashes, neutral jumps and whatnot… It tends to throw every fuerte I’ve played against off cause he needs ibuki to be stationary so that he can aim his splashes correctly.

Anywho, that, and mixing up your wakeup options is the best thing I have against fuerte defensively, works decently for me… I do the same shit when I used to use chun against him. Otherwise you just let him control too much space with run stop fakes and walldive crap… I choose to try my best to not let him play that game.
