0:19 - Why didn’t you go into a bnb after seeing 2x cr.jab hit?
0:20 - f+MK hits but for some reason you don’t combo after it. Anything would do, like f+MK , f+LK xx lk.tsumuji. Dunno about the spacing but a tsumuji loop might have been possible.
0:29 - input error? Why the neutral jump whiffed kunai?
1:16 - lol did you forget you had U1 instead of U2?
1:17 - any time you see Dsim neutral jump like that, punish his landing with hp.neckbreaker.
1:33 - nice way to style, lol.
Couple notes:
-
Do not ever try to FA or command dash when Dsim is teleporting. You will most likely be facing the wrong way to even interrupt his combo, and there’s the possibility of getting your inputs mixed up so you get tsumuji if he teleports behind you. Not to mention he picked U2. Instead just do cl.st.HK into whatever. Mixups with SJC cd or damage with hk.kazegiri.
-
You seemed a bit too eager (imo) to backdash whenever you lost your frame advantage. You’re still within poking range, you can still be very threatening to him. The worst he can do is just poke you and push you away. You can counter this by being unpredictable, like quick FA in anticipation of a poke and then dash up.
-
I’d have to test this, but I have a feeling that Dsim has a way to punish TC6 xx normal jump. I still think SJCing into mk.cd or hk.cd would be a lot safer.
-
A lot of risks with the random neckbreakers and command dashing around and jumping right at Dsim but they seem to have paid off.
Overall decent play. Next time post a losing replay.

dude you need to learn her bnb combos and the basics of moving around the screen before using her in matches. are you new to the game man?if so , i would recommend you to pick up a basic character like ryu and learn the fundamentals of the game before moving on to ibuki. if you directly start out with a char like ibuki then you’d run into the danger of playing the game for years without noticing a few basic aspects of sf.
Video 1:
0:33 - starting the round with a neckbreaker. Risky shit.
0:35 - why FA instead of vortex?
0:37 - you didn’t dash cancel your FA… always dash cancel your FA. No reason ever not to.
0:38 - could have neckbreakered instead of swept, for more dmg and stun.
0:42 - wake up forward throw, lol again risky shit. At least wake up back throw so it’s sort of an option select in case your opponent did a meaty.
0:45 - you didn’t cancel your TC4 into anything. Why?
0:50 - you failed to block a simple (accidental) safe jump. Remember that jump ins must be blocked high, not low.
Round 2: tons of random neckbreakers, zero vortexing, zero actual mixups, not cancelling your target combos into specials, etc.
Also you won. Next time post a losing replay for better critique.
Video 2:
0:58 - you could have won right here if you dash cancelled and target comboed for max damage. Instead you don’t and just sweep…
The rest of round 1 is you refusing to block and instead mash out reversal neckbreakers and U2, twice.
Didn’t really watch the rest. Sorry to break it to you but you need a ton of work on your fundamentals. You don’t just simply spam moves whenever you want. If you ever watch pro players play, you’ll see that they almost never just simply throw specials out. Stuff like neckbreaker should only be done at the end of a combo, to punish something, or (if you know what you’re doing) as a footsies/whiff punisher. Same with your ultra.
I was gonna say more stuff but it seems laxlight has already beat me to it.
Ok thanks guys I’m going to work on my fundamentals.
so in your oponion if u wanna cross up after a sweep use lk instead of a kunai?
I prefer to use dash into mixup dash after a sweep, because I am good with my dash mixups. I guess using lk or mk to cross up should work as well. Or you could do a meaty jump in fierce I guess or fake that and go lk x lk tsumiji x lp x mk x ender. I never (rather rarely) use sweep right now, because I prefer my other mixups, but kunai after sweep (from far) just doesn’t seem to be effective.
Need some help guys, okay this Abel player makes me look like a total scrub, most of the stuff i already know how to punish but my execution when playing this guy is freaking crap, and sometimes my execution gets beat due to very brief lag spikes, that dont show up due to the replay channel. Either way I could still use critiquing because you can only get better.

I think you should work on your choice of moves. You use sweep in situations where st mk x mk tsumiji would be better. Your combos are too weak. I know lag messes up alot but still. Especially against Abel you could be doing stuff like lk x mk TC into lk tsumiji into lp x mk x neckbreaker, which only has one 1 frame link. Abel is one of the biggest punching bags ever. Do long and damaging combos to him.
Also, although its tempting to be “random” don’t be random with the neckbreakers. That’s just bad practice. Also your choice of block string moves are not good. There should be little reason to end a block string with cr mk instead of st mk which can cancel into stuff. Try using st mp when close, it is extremely good.
Make sure when Abel uses f + mk x dash that you either grab or do st lp to counter his next hit. Grab will beat anything but jump, regular tornado throw, ultras, and cl lp beats everything but Ex tornado, block, Ultra, but trades with cl lp and cl HP. Do not use cr lp after he uses f + mk.
By the way I answered the PM.

sincere the great still plays the game huh? good to know!
anyways, you’re too passive and unsure of what to do in a ground game, you keep backing off by back dashing or jumping backwards(ill get to this in detail after i address the other points).learn to hold your ground, dont do random crmps when your opponent is clearly outside of your poke range since he can jump in on you/punish you before you recover(in short, crmp is not a very good poke). Also finish your combos, you missed your bnbs way too many times and did random neckbrakers without hitconfirming them properly.if you feel that he’s too unpredictable to use your normal aas then you could try easier stuff like jump forward throw etc to atleast keep his jump forwards at check to a certain extent. Also most importantly, your okizeme(vortex) game is extremely weak, your kunai throws are completely off and you dont seem to know how to throw them according to the spacing of your knockdown.
anyways when you’re holding ground against someone in a ground game, the general thumb rule is that you should make note of your opponent’s fastest hard to react to,long poke or special and stay right outside of its range so that when you’re busy restricting him from getting in on you using other reactable specials and jumpins, he wont be able to randomly use the said poke to get in otherwise . in this case, you’re looking at abel’s step kick and his sweep.you got to stay right outside of his step kick range to make sure that when you’re busy restricting him from getting in on you using stuff like wheel kick/rolls/jump ins/ex chain combo etc he wont use a step kick or a sweep to randomly get in on you.In short, keep him outside of his effective range and if he gets back into that range(which he probably will after you restrict him from using his reactable tools), know that instead of backing off by a bit(which is also an option) this would also be the best time for you yourself to go on the offensive(more safer than you rushing into his range when going on the offense). hope this helps.
thanks a bunch for the critique guys i really appreciate it. After looking at my videos again i have to agree with laxlight’s statement “you’re too passive and unsure of what to do in a ground game” i feel this is exactly what I need to work on to improve my game, i think this is due to the fact that with him being so aggressive im scared to actually come in because she’ll get beat by alot of his normals, so im back dashing and jumping to try and get space, when in the end he just chases me down with a AA wheel kick knockdown or a jump in mk most of the time which leads to a damaging combo.
my bnb’s…aggghhh i really hate when I miss them, i guess the only thing to help with that is practice more in training mode, i also missed alot of b+mp AA opportunities
EDIT:
Also laxlight, yea me and Sincere are real good SF online buddies, i hate the fact that he ONLY plays Abel, its whatever though lol he really makes me step my game up and i like that
Alright guys u have to watch this!! …Critique NOW!! lol
!
i have a lot of questions just from this vid!!
PS: i got a Serious source of info from someone in japan…no other info on it please due to a lot of reasons. though , i can share those.
before we go into any analysis , people been sayin she’s weaker on her normal! and that Ageman hit box been changed so it’s so annoying to use as anti air!! though it’s Amazing on ground due to the hit trade it does , and that it gets crocuhing from a far distance (suacy!)
here are couple of stuff:
1-Jump back kunai has floating effect though it’s the same landing frame/time ? which is pretty not bad…though when done closer on opponent it’s very punishable…which is lame?
2- Easier to link her Cr.lk into a bnb st.lp or cr.lp due to the faster frame changes on cr.lk? is this true?
3- Ibuki’s SLide has a better push back? min 1:27 this dude been doin slide, never been punished but ONCE because he did it too close on bison. beside this slide, into st/cr.lp is amazingly safe now? or that it’s safer now?
4-RH tsumuji kick has a bigger pushback?? allowing her slide to space out perfectly …this is very interesting! i got this from plenty of sources! and this vid showed proved it min 1:27 as well as other parts in the vid. the vid showed that as well as my reference told me that same! so i guess it’s true.
5-Hit box on crouchers been slightly changed!! u can do target combos on crouchers like guy! preforming TC4 and 6.
not sure if this is true! but this vid showed me something interesting were i believe TC’s been fixed.
around min 1:30 ibuki did 2x cl.st.lp!! currently in ssf4, against a crouched bison this wont ever happen due to the crouching hit box shit thing…
any comment ? or stuff u saw? share?
6-Around Min 2:00 …wtf is that?? wtf >_<
7- f+mk into st.mk hit connects? did it use to connect in SSF4? i dont remember to be honest, i either use f+lk, or pokes depending on the distance
8-Min 2:35 …hmmm did this dude miss f+lk into LK.Tsuji or did this bison SERIOUSLY easy reversal this link ?
9-min 3:31 OMG neckbreaker puts you in a different positioning!!! this is true!! as well as kunai vortex timing been completely changed!! wtheckzorz lol
alright…also from the same source, EX dash is useless? the reference i got wasnt that great due to his lack of english, so i worked a lot on translating his japanese (which was hard as heck!! am only 102 japanese student lol). anyways, over all people are saying ibuki is somehow nerfed a little bit. though this nerf is adaptable (partialy). her vortex timing been completely changed, wither after a neck breaker or even a regular Tsumuji knock? due to the kunai landing? though those are adaptable, and her normals been nerfed Hard.
hmmm the neckbreaker thing is annoying me! because form what i understood, u wont be able to cross up EASY after a neckbreaker now. it puts u far were u have to walk a lot in order to cross over…and due to the time restriction on neckbreaker, u wont be able to cross over. but again some peeps said they did it and it did cross over? though time is completely different and that most of the time you wont be able to chain combos right after >< …

the landing feels the same, just you drop down rather than back. can be punished if you throw random kunai. her kunai game is all changed up because of this. i like it because you can use it to move in during fb spammers, but when you retreat you can keep yourself in closer and be at safe/good range
not sure on that, but if you listen, there are many button taps going on. my guess is that the player is 2x/3x button pressing that. i could be wrong.
bison could have punished on one other occasion (not really keeping track) but vs quicker chars a la yun, it gets punished quite easily. looks better of her qcb.k though
yes, looks really nice. wait for a couple weeks to see how it turns out when people get used to it.
tried on yun but was not sucessful… this will proven when someone sits down vs cpu.
ibuki did an EX srk.k and bison did an EX head stomp. bison trumps
??? i think that was st.lk into st.mk? f.mk into st.mk would be beasty though.
ibuki was late, no combo.
i like that actually. there are more options IMO cause you have a bit more distance to play with. really good vs graplers and small framed chars as you can get in safer ranges wether it be closer or further. vortex game and ground game is at advantage IMO. we will see soon enough.
source on japanese?
i am liking that guy’s gameplay. that ken was a bit ass though. but ibuki should have had that TC from the get go.
that mix-up done will not work later vs (good) shotos due to the SRK or EX tatsu, just the ken did not know how to punish that. i tried the same thing vs ryu and got punished but it does work on Yun!

Gotta love random Ultras, huh?
^ Loved the editing, I guess.
yo guys can somebody upload some combo heavy matches for the sake of flash.
ill post myself wen i get a chance to upload but jus to reignite our flashy ninja - high execution spirits
Combo heavy matches or combo heavy training room sessions?
i think he wants to see people getting rushed down and just generally, getting there shit pushed in…
could be wrong though.
