The Shinobi Secrets: Ibuki Video Thread

i meant i was getting more of a feeling for what to do with ibuki in various situation. my execution is ass. jab jab s.fwd xx SJC random normal? ugh, disgusting.

honestly, FA has been a biggest weakness for me. i loved spamming it. FOR the most part it’s safe, esp cuz i always backdash and fish for counterhit lvl 1. however, this bad habit gets me killed against boxers, and very random situations. one thing i found with ibuki is you can use her FA similar to bison since her dash is so fast. i definitely should stop using it for a while to beef up the rest of my game tho.

i’m kind of skeptical with s.jab. the range on it is so bad. not to mention the whole whiffing thing. i also dont’ like getting close s.jab when i dont’ expect it. often if i’m close enough to jab, i’m gonna just go into a target combo. i’d love to use her s.jab like she could in 3s, but it feels terrible. guess i’ll test around it. s.jab xx neckbreaker does sound like something that i want to be able to do on reaction.

probably start using s.rh more to get a feel for it. but f+rh. i am mad at this move. i remembered u saying f+rh is good against honda headbutt (maybe i’m wrong). so i spammed it from full screen. obviously that didnt’ go so well and i got smashed. and i thought to myself, “wow is the wrong way to use f+rh to beat headbutt”. but i did find out that f+rh is pretty good against honda’s s.rh poke.

actually i wanted to put a annotation at that part of the vid with something like “oh ok, note to self, big gap between 2nd and 3rd kick, fml”

but yea, i definitely should be sweeping more. he didnt’ play much bison so most of my matches against bison were just me watching the distance to see when his c.short will whiff and he’s forced to use another normal after blocked scissor.

err, i was just training myself to use 1 hit mp into c.rh, s.rh. i think that targetcombo might actually be a terrible idea for guile, unless he goes under u if he does flash kick (though i doubt it).

and yea i do let ppl FA too often. i dont’ have that reflex yet to do a hcf motion on reaction to FA. and anything else i could try is usually out of range(minus slide). something i do try is to max range slide their FA and backdash and punish if they whiff their FA. i think in one match, i just do the slide way too late and he smashes me with it (twice in the same match cuz i’m an idiot). i much rather just neckbreaker on reaction if i could just train myself to do so.

hopefully this splitter i bought doesn’t lag me like directly connecting to my computer did for me a year ago. it was terrible learning to play cammy with lag, and then going to a tourney and dying from my own tick throws not working.

when you say ppl know how to punish that target combo. do you mean the mashing reversals after s.rh launch into jc/sjc? or do you mean they know how to reversal between the s.mp and c.rh…cuz that would suck.

i want to get used to this target combo cuz i think it has potential. it has a low move during a chain in which if blocked u can SJC backwards into kunai. if it hits randomly u can sjc into cmd dash mixups. that’s if i learn to hit confirm it. though people mash auto corrects all day sometimes, so it may not be worth it.

You just have to learn the ranges that u can use s.LP at and not get a close s.LP. Takes a little bit of training mode to get down because it works differently with different characters but Ibuki is inevitably a character you’ll have to spend a little time with.

If you want a fool proof combo that will work on everybody but has slightly stricter timing then just do c.LP, s.LK, s.MK (her kick target combo) then HP neck breaker. Shit is easily confirmable and works on everybody including Blanka.

Use trainng mode to find out the range and timing where f+HK is good against Honda headbutt. It’s not a braindead solution. You have to have the spacing and timing correct for the move’s hit box but it definitely works well against near full screen headbutts.

maybe there should be another video thread where just good videos are posted? I only want to watch top level play, but this is page after page of newbs wanting their matches critiqued.

Yeah this thread should be the video critique thread. LOL. I think I’ll have some recorded stuff up pretty soon.

I did make a video critique thread exactly for this reason lol

so… who is gonna upload top level play videos?
I’m so excited to watch those “only top level play”

also from the look I guess I should stop uploading my garbage plays here
the only reason I uploaded here was to appreciate Ibuki’s beautiful moves with you guys
and introducing my local players that I play with on/off line
one of my biggest hobby was reading those fun comments from all sf4 players on youtube but screw that I will stop now

i was going to do that too, but there were way too many new threads being made, i figured i’d just use the current video thread.

i would have titled it “ibuki says contribute! critique our vids thread”, but u beat me too it.

Well that’s the thing. As sad as it is so far your Ibuki and a few others are basically all we have for “high level” Ibuki. That’s untested in tournament days old Ibuki. Don’t take things too literally. Just do your thing and when other top players start doing stuff (and Japanese footage comes out) we can define things more specifically.

Me vs a good Ibuki player.I am not that good atm and I have basically no clue how to play vs her.
I want to learn Ibuki myself because I really like her move set.

I thought Train Harder worked well

Didn’t see this here

here is desora playing vs an ibuki

i’ll start uploading a few of my online ranked matches as well i think ive got a pretty good grip on playing ibuki, ive finally learned how to effectively use that damn near gdlk anti-air of hers (b.mp)…that shit stops t.hawks dive…also her raida stops it aswell although its best to use the EX-version of it…

oh and my BnB for Ibuki (since im playing on pad at the moment) is

j.mk(cross-up or non crossup) cr.lp,cr.lp,cr.lk xx (EX or mk) Tsumoji

this is simpler for me to do since on pad i cant get the timing down of cr.lp,cr.lp,s.lk,s.mk xx whatever special

I thought her BnB was c.lp, c.lp, s.mk>special? Thats what I use.

Yep. i have a habit in going for that BnB more than c.lp, c.lp, s.mk>special.

Here’s a little video of my not-yet-quite-good Ibuki vs. Viper in an Endless Battle today.

I don’t quite have Ibuki’s bnb links down yet (like c.lp, c.lp, s.mk -> special), gonna try to work that into my game.

I believe that it is… but i dont have the timing down for the s.mk and sometimes i miss the combo, so I’d rather do what i know i can than keep missing the s.mk

My personal fav easy target combo is the S.HP,S.HP,C.HK,C.HK then Super jump or commadn dash forward twice to land on the otherside of the opponent. And Repeat but this at the end of it throw the enemy instead of repeating again. Usually works thats if you havent stunned the enemy by this point xD

Can do like 70% damage if i can mix it up well enough and they are not expecting it.

Everyone hates my Critique thread :frowning:

Oh this is just what I need! Super Street Fighter 4 is my very first street fighter game I’ve ever played. And I want to learn how to get better Ibuki, so I guess this is the place.

My videos are VERY, VERY bad but I’m open minded and willing to learn. Here they are:

I play using a PS3 controller.

Though since these posted videos I’ve learned to be a little more consistent with my inputs. Like right now the toughest combo I can do is J.HP, ->MK, LP, MP, HP, Raida.

I’ll upload some more recent matches later this week. But anyways please give me some tips and advice, I’m really itching to learn how to play SSF4 more competitively.
