The Shinobi Secrets: Ibuki Video Thread

I’ll have about 6 more matches uploaded tomorrow when I have time

Im no Ibuki master but just some things I noticed

Dudley Fight:
Rd 1: Look to punish those whiffed Uppercuts with Ultra, or Neckbreaker. Neckbreaker sets up the Vortex. Also dont give up ground so easily and put yourself in the corner. Play footsies and look for Counter Hit pokes
Rd 2: Dont let your opponent get up for free. Cross him up, HK Command Dash through, etc. If you score a knockdown, utilize it. Knockdowns are when Ibuki’s gets a lot of her damage. Mix up potential. Also you could have Reversal Ultra after his blocked Ultra
Rd 3: Stop using Ex Hien so much. One Ex Kunai would have won it for you

Makoto Fight:
Not too bad, but to be fair that Makoto was terrible. Try not to mash throw when your opponent is too far way. I also saw no real follow ups after you landed Neckbreakers. Learn to cross up kunai after a Neckbreaker. It’s god like, even if they block it you can do safe block strings and mix up.
I’ll be uploading more matches of my own tomorrow, so maybe you can see what I mean. I use it a lot

what james said. you really need to capitalize on the knock downs and you really need to know how to punish. learn the vortex but also learn proper crossup positions and how to do an air TC into a ground one. also your basic AA footsies need work. when dudley was jumping at you like a moron you could have shut him down pretty easily with a well placed s.rh. watch the option select . com video, it has a breakdown of her best AA normals. you can also use the dp move since dudley’s jump in isn’t too great. use the lk one and then you can usually juggle for another hit afterwards. I prefer using normals because I main Bison and I find the dp isn’t super reliable against everyone.

showin this thread some love~

Not bad for someone who’s learning. You’ll learn soon against better players that randomly fishing for focus attack like that will get you killed. A good Viper would have been MP knuckling you all day long. That or using max range c.HP to EX seismo. He was using the overheads a little recklessly though so the FA’s were definitely justified there.

The part you really need to improve on is making sure you throw out those neck breakers less against people that know how to block and punish. Will get you killed. Also when u land a neckbreaker go for super jump LP kunai vortex or cross up everytime. Don’t leave free jump in setups to waste. Ibuki doesn’t do huge damage per combo but she does big stun so build up that stun.

@DevilJin01
I am not trying to shit talk here…and idk If I am being rude or whatever
I just wonder how you play Ibuki since you are treating everyone as less skilled, and giving tons of advices, may I request some of your videos?
your posting just giving me a feel like that your Ibuki is way advanced than any of us…
again sorry If this makes you feel bad

Saying DJ is treating everyone like less skilled players is a bit on the rude side, saying that when it isn’t actually true is just ignorance. It could be assumed that his Ibuki is great because of his knowledge, but disregard that notion because you should take his advice because it’s right, not whether or not he’s a good or bad Ibuki. Just PM him asking nicely if you want a video from him and maybe he’ll have one available. DJ has been giving advice here since forever so instead of calling him out just thank him dude.

2 reasons

he mained ibuki in 3rd strike even finishing high at evo one year
and he knows how to study high lvl vids

its deviljin son…who are you?

lol owned. anyways ima ibuki n00b but ill post some of my vids later…i had a pretty sick comback agaisnt a sorta decent akuma

coocoos was the only one with a legit response. i did feel the same perspective as philly-one. i do however take into consideration any advice, especially ones that seem practical like deviljins. though i would like to see deviljin in action because that will also help gauge how useful certain advices are, also seeing them put in action also helps when u get in that situation.

I agree that his advices are good and helpfull
but well im saying how i felt
really nobody felt the same way?
If so, im just being a dick I guess lol

Here’s another one of my Ibuki. That was actually the previous match to my already posted video, so all of deviljin’s advice applies. Too many random focus attacks and no real link combos in there.

Hey Allen, do you still play cammy?
When super came out and I picked up Ibuki, I decided to drop cammy.
But now I found that I still want to play Cammy lol

He’'s EvilDrakeFang, very well known and plays (or played, in vanilla) a sick Cammy. Your post has a demeaning tone, which is odd because last time I checked he has contributed plenty of info and gave us nice vids.

Here’s a more recent one from today:

Question about her Super Jump -> Kunai. I got the feeling that they leave me pretty open after I knockdown. Adon managed to grab me before I could do a Target or Link Combo a lot of times, and when I was going in for a throw, he either was in block stun of the Kunai and I couldn’t grab him or he went for a Rising Jaguar.

Is my kunai timing somehow off?

How exactly do you cross people up with Ibuki. I try but i either miss or it doesnt cross up. She seems to have a weird jump and angled hits. Haven’t even tried her cross up kunai yet.

well there is her kunai and then there is her lk and her target combo lk into mk then do your little combo. just got to get use to the timing

not really sure but i think it on the where she is at the jump correct me if im wrong but if you do it at the top they have time to recover when you recover but when she comes down it your able to recover fast enough to combo.

oh plus for the video don’t overuse neck breaker, adon punish you one time for overusing it.

it weird ibuki neck breaker was one of the most unsafe moves for her in 3rd stirke and now it recovers really good in super street fighter 4, yet it still good at punishing people doing stupid mistakes from across screen. shame tho i love using ibuki cr. hk -> s.hk -> mk (reset) dash into a mixup. shame i cant use that in street fighter 4.

Yeah I noticed I was doing that too often too, lol. I’ll try to tone that down a bit and also I’ll try throwing the kunai a little later and report back with results.

Hah don’t worry about being rude man this is SRK. Shit goes down here and it’s not all the time that points are made with the utmost of courtesy. I’ve been browsing and posting on this website far too long to make a big deal about anyone’s rudeness. In any event u seem like a pretty cool dude and I’m sure you remember me playing against you at NEC and Winter Brawl using Viper a while back. I can already tell by the way you worded your post that you’re more interested in just learning things than anything else.

Honestly my Ibuki at this point in time is not really way advanced compared to any of yours. It’s just in a lot of videos you guys are making big mistakes and not playing at a level that’s even close to what someone playing in a tournament match should be doing with Ibuki or even any other character. I would say I’m definitely playing and going about using Ibuki a bit more thoughtfully than most of the people posting vids right now but there’s still a lot I have to learn about Ibuki considering outside of some of the really basic aspects of her she plays quite differently from her 3S counterpart which I used exclusively for years in that game.

I have a few videos up from a stream before the game came out that I already posted. I’ve improved a bit since then and I know one of my friends did a recording of a session we had the other day so once those vids get upped I’ll post those.

Oh and speaking of my vids a couple from the session we had finally came out.

Me vs. Rugi’s Akuma.

Most just testing out footsies and what not. Learning which combos work on what characters. Like 3S it seems Ibuki will have a lot of character hit box specific combos that you’ll have to remember. I remember having trouble in the match vs. Rugi’s Akuma because Akuma’s footsies specifically are pretty strong and he messes with Ibuki after knockdowns but I’m sure I tried to put up a fight any way.
