The Shinobi Secrets: Ibuki Video Thread

Because 1+1 = 2 last time I checked.
Don’t know about that reversal timing you just said. Its activated on its first frame possible but I don’t think that means it activates any faster.
I would think reversal U1 is just 1 frame to activate(screen flash) and 1 frame to hit. Correct me

I’m almost certain the first 1 becomes 0 if the ultra is a reversal. Think grapplers’ U1: 1+0. When they do a reversal ultra, it becomes 0+0. Hence why you’d best have already started getting out of the grappler’s way before he does his ultra else you’re getting grabbed.

Stop your trolling. I’m not an idiot.

Mingo is right about the removing one frame from a reversal ultra if it’s a grab.

Either way a 1 frame start up or a 2 frame will still catch a perfectly timed safe jump. I know I have used it in the past.

^ oh right, that’s what you’re discussing. I was just letting someguy know that mingo was right. Also I’m pretty sure I’ve done it a few times.

I think the 1 means the flash is 1 frame. the 2nd 1 means 1 frame start up. In the case of 0 frame ultras, the 1+0 means 1 frame for the ultra freeze, 0 frame startup. Hense if you’re not in the air, you see the ultra, you’re getting hit. That’s why you can jump after the flash with Ibuki’s U1. It still takes 1 frame for it to start up.

Why did it take 15 posts to explain Ibuki’s ultra 1 frames in an off topic thread? LOL.

^ because you weren’t here to clear things up.

this thread needs more vids :frowning:

I believe vids for ibuki is done for a while dude :)…unless it’s some good jap matches…though am bored of her anyways so am taking a break untill we come out with new stuff (which i doubt, bout the coming up with new stuff) lol

Criticize away…i need advice on specific match ups …like Gief& Honda!!

Looking for advice, Trying to take buki to the next level…i know i jump to much/and dont focus much…I only do it because i can get away with it at this level of play lol.

Part of hit confirming is not to use the unsafe special(neckbreaker) if your being blocked. Against anyone competent who knows the matchup your dead.
Cancel your Agemen(b-mp) into cmd dash->kazegirl.
Learn your bnb. No reason to go c.lp s.lp c.mp.xx ex tsumuji. Its a unnecessary 1 frame link

As for against Zangief. Too much unnecessary risks. Too many random neckbreakers. When you jump in on Zangief, make sure its in a way that his lariat can’t hit you. I aim for the head but your better off not jumping in when you have the life lead. Once Zangief gets the knockdown. Your chances of winning drops dramatically. Lame it out. No wrong in that. Spam kunais and Hiens on him.

I only watched the Ryu and Zangief one.

Finally got some vids of myself to update with. I’m sure quite a few of you have already watched the vids live from yesterday but here’s my tournament footage matches from Xanbats yesterday.

u did good yesterday day DJ…but bro u have to play in more awarness. that’s my only comment…u get stressed easily ><, tell me am wrong :P?

PS: WHY THE FUCK do u do an offensice Kazigiri when u know it’s very punishable dude lol…like come on :S. also those peeps play dirty, u should’ve not wasted any chance of vortex or loop, matter of fact fuck the loop u should’ve went for pure OKI instead of flashiness…just straight cheepness with Oki and vortex, who gives a shit as long as u win.

also , i seriusly need to find a place in philly were they do tournies …were can i check bout that?

Yeah I used my EX dp’s a bit recklessly against HAV’s Abel and it cost me. I was going to cancel into EX kunai during one of the EX dp’s but for whatever reason it never came out. Which really would have been remedied by just not using it to begin with. Right now I just have my Ibuki in freestyle mode just kinda figuring out things that work and things that don’t. Obviously one of the things to get rid of is not using EX dp’s in situations where the punishment far outweighs me getting out of a bad situation. If I had only used the EX dp’s when HAV didn’t have ultra meter I would have fared a bit better. Though even then once people start playing more they’ll learn to focus dash through the kunai and still hurt me either way.

Probably not much reason to continue to go for the links except to maximize a stun/damage situation when I already have the health lead. I got a little happy with attempting the 1 framers just out of habit and it cost me some oki setups that could have helped me win vs. Ninja CW especially.

Despite what I messed up on I’m starting to feel a lot more comfortable with Ibuki in tournaments and am almost ready to mostly replace her over Viper in tournaments. Viper fit my play style until Ibuki came along and Ibuki has a great mix of shenanigans and fundamentals which Viper is sorely lacking when it comes to fundamentals. I originally only picked Ibuki since she’s been my main character in SF3 for like 4 years and it was worth trying her. At this point though I can see that Ibuki fundamentally pretty much completely outshines Viper. Viper has to be played almost completely around just screwing around with the opponent’s brain because all of her footsies and specials have terribly slow startup. Ibuki has a lot of great quick start up normals that have decent range and can land untech knockdowns off of any situation which makes her offense powerful and safe once she gets in. Having much more reliably air to air and anti air options than Viper is great against characters like Honda. Ibuki vs. Honda is such an easier fight for me than Viper vs. Honda. As long as u use your many tools to keep Honda out u can’t lose. He’ll never get close to you if you play the match right. Plus neckbreaker is a rather good anti air vs. a lot of his jump ins because the hit box slides under most of his jumping normals unless placed pretty much perfectly. Any poorly used neutral j.HP is free HP neck break to vortex. Getting a free vortex setup for AAing is really strong.

There’s picky things that I’ll have to pick up in other matchups but for the most part Ibuki is a better SF character fundamentally than Viper and does better in pretty much all of Viper’s problem matchups. Which leaves me little reason to continue using Viper at this point.

Check the tournaments and events thread for tourneys in your area. Or check the regional threads.

Yah dude awsm stuff :). I believe that most of us Ibuki’s are actually in the same situation, that we learned Ibuki and just need to start rolling harder with her. i myself need to pick up some stuff, like for example i liked it when i was watching u on stream when u did a quick footsie reversal of d+lk, into TC4…i need to work on that, specially against an asshole like ryu (doesnt have to be followed by TC4) but it’s a really amazing hard footsie that needs quick reactions…small stuff like these and little bit effort on some match up and i think i will be set for tournies (hopefuly)…i like ur viper as well DJ, though u didnt have chance because of this makoto so i understand …beside ibuki is better against makoto. over all u did good dude , i like watching Ibuki’s in tournies

keep it up man

I think you can use df.mk to get under guys flip mixups if he is trying to drop right over you. Just be careful to not always use that to get out because if he drops early you are going to eat a combo.

Matches of me vs a friend’s ryu. Any input on this?
