The Shinobi Secrets: Ibuki Video Thread

Thanks! :lovin:

She should. All you have to do is block the Hayate standing as DJ said and you get free reversal U1. Keep in mind that the frame disadvantage on block for her Hayates goes up from EX(-4) to lp(-8 iirc). If she is just spamming them mid screen, just interrupt it far st. lp into a combo. Moreover, if you have U1 stocked she cannot meaty oroshi you on wakeup or if you block one, you get free U1.

Pretty much this was just the two of you getting a knockdown first then some meaty kunai setup and if it hit put them back in the situation. Both you and DJ also did a horrible job anti airing one another. There were so many free jump ins in this set it wasn’t funny. Also DJ the cmd dash, regular jump kunai is easy to time wrong. As you saw, if he didn’t time it right, you could command dash under it. More importantly, because you took note of that, you should have been a bit more liberal and tried to EX kazekiri out of it. What happens is if he doesn’t time that correctly, the Kazekiri auto corrects and kills the kunai as well as hitting him.

Also, both of you could do a better job of utilizing the plethora of mixups she has off of a hard knockdown. For example, you get both safe jumps and safe crossup normals from mk tsumuji and neckbreaker by just slightly pausing and either jumping/super jumping and using j. hp or j. lk. Or even just some fun gimmicks. One gimmick I like to do when I have U1 stocked is to do a wakeup kunai that purposely hits them on the top of their body, and then U1. This gimmick stops anyone trying to throw you after they see that the kunai isn’t going to hit meaty. Another I like to do is if I’m going to do the cmd dash, reg jump kunai, is command dash, back dash or jump back instant kunai. This is a specialized bait which not only keeps them from reversaling with stuff, but also keeps you at a solid range where you can counter poke with st. mk/cr. hk.

But I did see a lot of great stuff I will put into my game from this set, so I hope this helps you guys moving on in the future!

Ok I am finally getting to the point where I can at least start showing my Ibuki. Been practicing her almost exclusively this week (I lost 1400 PP attempting this lol!).

Vs Viper

My spacing is still a little rough largely because I am not use to Ibuki’s jump height compared to Akuma’s, but I am working on it. I am also going to start using some different hit confirms since I am finding some better ones.

 1. Always always go for some sort of knockdown, be it neckbreaker or tsumuji ending low. Vortex and cross up wake up game is where Ibuki gets like 90% of her damage.
 2. Don’t ever mess up your vortex timing!!
 3. Don’t spend random ex kunais. You can use it for kunai zoning, but you really really need to know wtf you are doing. In fact, probably the only time you should be using them at this level of play is for end of round, chip damage.
 4. Don’t ever throw out random, unsafe neckbreakers!! Scrub Ibuki play right there. Random neckbreaker is like random dp from a shoto.
 5. Back dash more, alot more. This CViper foolishly leaves big gaps during her block strings where you can easily, simply, back dash out of her pressure. In fact you probably could have even frame trapped her a few times or mashed out of her strings.
 6. far.LP to st.MK is a 3 frame link. You should not be missing such easy links!! Get back to training mode and grind those combos.
 7. Post a losing fight for better advice. Better opponents will exemplify your mistakes.

I might just make a note, I am coming from Akuma so my largest problem is having to adjust for Ibuki’s vortex options. Akuma has so many more from simply his walking speed and air tatsus.

As far as combos go, that is a rare miss. I am 99.999% on that combo.

And for a losing match, when I lose a match I’ll let you know. All of my losses came at the start of the week when I was still just learning the basics with her.

Lol, why would you even post this?

I’ll probably be streaming again tomorrow morning, same channel. It’s online stuff but I’m sure yall could learn something, since I’m too lazy to post anymore.

I’ll re-edit this post when it’s up.

Are you mad I called you a retard cuz you were blocking the screen?

You just mad cos he’s stylin’ on you.

Decent online matches with a Rose player. There’s more in his channel

Forward short > Short Tsumuji on hit makes me happy :3

I don’t think the toward strong > ultra hit like I intended it to, looks like he could have just held up. What I wanted was to grab him crouch-teching, but I’m not sure if he participated there.

I booked that mishap with the U1, i wish i was more proficient with U1, it’s really solid, but for any projectile characters/honda/blanka i’d go U2, i have just started as of late waiting to see who they chose before i pick my Ultra. THAT and my U1 on reaction execution is shitsville, population ME.

I liked the corner pressure, i gotta implement soma dat shiet into my game !

finally I’ve played with Mingodynasty ggs
if any one wants to see the video, say so I will upload them
especially one that Mingo missed the oppotunity to kill me because he was too busy to taunt on me lol

I wonder if you guys ever get this kind of message such as "I saw your video and I want to learn/spar with you"
and when I play them, they just keep taunting on me regardless of their skill level(mostly scrubs)

I want to see it.

Would love to see the video. That’s a pretty lame attitude to have, especially when we are all here to learn from each other. But I could tell from his posts that MingoDynasty is kind of a jerk.

taunting is hot whats the point in having one if you don’t use it? I mean as long as you don’t get cocky with it i see no harm in it. Philly i can’t see you not taunting specially with your high level of cancellation i think taunt 7 would fit you best, like on some naruto kakashi type shit lol “Pay attention”! =p

lol ggs

I swear to god it was my controller fucking up because I definitely did not taunt you nor did I input such inputs. I eventually threw my controller afterward the round ended. I hope it’s not broken, or I hope it is so I have a reason to buy a new non shitty one. Only time I taunted you was at the beginning of some rounds to let you know I was back from afk.

I also definitely wasn’t playing my top game that day. It was like 11pm and I was ready to sleep. I had no previous warmup except 2 games against New Amerykah. You should have known something was up when every random neckbreaker landed you a free vortex, and every random kazegiri magically hit me or went 100% unpunished.

GJ being a douche and calling me a scrub though. Really just shows what kind of a person you are.

Your fundamentals need a little work, so overall the playing was so-so. No links, or tsumuji block strings which basically added up to no real pressure. Most of the time the Seth player just danced around you which a well timed Anti-Air would have stuffed him clean. I understand your in the learning stages or so in picking up Ibuki, but to say the least, that seth player himself needed a bit of work on his fundamentals as well. If he would have thought over his moves other then just going all gung-ho with a rushdown, you probably would have lost. It was also obvious that he kind of crumbled under pressure trying to take you out, which is good and all because you held a clutch moment, but if he would have just calmed himself down a bit he would have had you easily.

Things you need to learn before picking up ibuki:

-Strong Fundamentals
-Her basic BnB’s
-Vortex

After you get these few things down, you should be able to get a nice grasp on how to play Ibuki. From there, you need to get the experience be it online or offline, so you can get used to what is safe and what isn’t safe with Ibuki. In that same instance, training mode will be your best friend for awhile. Otherwise, you still need some work to be done. Like I said earlier, nice clutch win, but if you were playing against a compotent seth player the match would have been over seconds ago.

here are a few more, should be 4 total but youtube hates me atm. Not nearly as many random neckbreakers, still can’t fight the urge that i can guess right :frowning:
