^ Stupid sweeps is one of the things I’m trying to eliminate from my game lol.
And again, the biggest problem with this vortex escape was: he just kept mixing the escapes, he was not just mashing. It’s hard to adapt in an FT2 (unless you’re Daigo or Infiltration lol), and he made it even harder. I believe I did pretty well in term of sweep punishes but again, I couldn’t just react to everything. If you watch closely, he went into juggle state only once - and I didn’t react lol.

Focus dash on wakeup is just imho even in terms of risk rewards. A crossup dive kick with Cammy is extremely hard to see, so instead of betting on a direction and possibly having to deal with pressure later, I prefered betting on a focus dash and possibly get out of the pressure lol. Wrong decision :frowning:

And same for dive kicks: it’s pretty “easy” to escape them if your opponent keeps jumping at you. Which he did not do. He kept jumping when he had EX, which is smart and messes up with my decisions lol

The question I actually ask myself is: when he did those spiral arrows on block, should I have directly gone for U1 punish? Iwas like “it’s not gonna kill, so I’d rather go for a neckbreaker combo to ambiguous mixups and keep U1 for a possible mistimed divekick later”. Do you think it’s the good thing to do in this case?

Sure why not. Excellent damage and a safe jump setup afterward. The safe jump can easily be a mixup if you’d like, i.e. empty jumping.

In the first game (near the end) your j.Short only reset him because what you did wasn’t a safe-jump. If you did your OS would have hit because his backdash wouldn’t have gotten hit. Even if it makes the DP whiff, someone like Alioune would just delay the DP and hit you.

The thing to notice here is that most of your damage came from his execution errors, and whenever you got a hit it converted to a little bit of damage (cr.LP, cr.LP, st.MK xx Neckbreaker). Unfortunately it’s unlikely to be able to consistently vortex a top player more than 50% of the time, so your damage has to come from elsewhere.

However, you played very well, probably much better than I would have done right now. This match-up sucks but you have to start using HK Kazegiri to end your combos or other options such as walk back sj.MK in your vortex.

RC: He only bounced out of the Vortex because he was backdashing – st.HK will likely whiff – it’s best to just throw another Kunai the second you see it happen. The problem with doing st.HK as an OS to the juggle here is that the Kunai that makes her juggle doesn’t have 9-frames (I think) of block-stun, so it wouldn’t be a block string on hit.

Can I just stop to say Arcana Hearts 3 is s**t and I hate my friend for making me play it.

Exactly. I’m however not confident enough to try to put under pressure a man who’s possibly the best Cammy in the world right now lol. Especially against Cammy, since Ibuki loses for free in terms of ground game/zoning, I’m usually trying to apply an aggressive zoning forcing her to come at me. However, this time I failed at punishing her high dive kicks lol. I mean anyway, Ibuki can’t rush against Cammy at all, so… gotta find a solution lol.

I didn’t have enough opportunities to add a walk back sj.MK lol. At this point I was rather thinking “Okay, let’s try a command dash mixup?”. I should have added empty jumps though.

Oh also: Best way to punish Cammy from a crouching position:

  • cr.LK - TC LP MP(2hit) HP - st.LP xx special if you’re very close
  • cr.LP st.MP st.MK xx special if you are doubtful. (does not work if she’s crouching)

cr.LP cr.LP st.MK sucks, I don’t want to use it anymore. Except against Blanka :frowning:

Ah, right. Either way, the Kunai he threw definitely couldn’t enable 6-frames of block-stun. I know this because they time I tried to practice this OS I realised Ibuki could just get DP’d if I didn’t backdash. It’s a little fun fact, but since we can’t react to the juggle the only time we should go for st.HK is on characters like Sagat (terribly risky) or Yang who do this sort of thing to themselves. C.Viper isn’t worth it because if she crouches and blocks the second hit will whiff. =(

EDIT: Sky, please don’t say I’m one of the most impressive Ibuki’s around the world. Perhaps one time in Europe only, but right now I’m about a year behind everyone else and I’m rusty. I’ve played casually since… February 2012…

Actually against Cammy you really should get used to MK Tsumuji Loops. I used to be able to do it consistently (Arcades and Online, dunno about tournament since I never joined one) – and it really does help. The spacing you get after a HK Kazegiri from that combo is perfect that, unless Cammy starts to delay her DP, you can really mix her up.

st.LP is special cancellable now?

Unless I need a low game vs Cammy, I just use TC4 , st.LP , st.MK. Best you can do I think without MK Tsumuji loops. But anyways damaging combos should be the least of your concerns…

Shouldn’t be a problem. If you expect your opponent to mash dp then you shouldn’t go for it in the first place. Hardly anyone wants to risk a dp after blocking a kunai, especially after you’ve shown them your Tsumuji loop execution…

Do you mean the Neckbreaker - b.MP - sj.Kunai? The MK Tsumuji - st.LP - sj.Kunai? Those two guarantee you a blockstring, no mashing involved =)

In the last 2 Rounds you switched your strategy and that brought me out so much… my techs didnt work and your unblockables were hard to handle… one knockdown and the round was over. I should try to use ibukis focus to escape those.

Apparently, its from the fact Ibuki’s wake up “crouches” or something while she gets up. I don’t get it really.

When she is getting up from a knockdown there is a part of the animation that she squats before standing up straight. Any attack that hits her from behind on that frame more or less is an unblockable
