amazing spacing and patience. thats currently what im working on. i didn’t know you could link c.mk > s.mk > special. that would definitely help with the viper/guy/dan matchup for me.
You can only link it with counter hit c.mk. Still don’t know how to react to counter hit but I guess if you predict it, it’s easier. Or if it’s not a counter hit, you can still thow out st.mk and leaves 2f gap for frame trap. Only on hit though.
Losers, somewhere in the top 32 bracket, against Alioune’s Cammy
Please notice how smart he is in escaping my vortex!!! This is officially the first time I’ve ever played someone who could answer to all of my setups
tl,dw but I’m going to guess work less on finding setups with no flaws, and instead work more on adapting to your opponent trying to escape your vortex.
That’s exactly what I’ve been working on for the last months. Watch the matches first =) sweep if he tries to focus and a few command dash shit lol. I am still not on point with empty jumps though!
From the Cammy match-up, ask yourself what methods is he using to escape the vortex? If he’s constantly going into juggle state, you should maximize your punishes such as st.HK into kazegiri. If you know that he’s mashing to get out, then bait it using a different set-up then the vortex.
I also noticed you used a few cr.HK on whiff. I know it’s tempting to get a hard knock down, but it’s very, very risky especially if Cammy has meter or she has really good reactions.
Also it’s not a very good idea to focus her dive kicks then dash in, you’ll get punished every single time you do that unless you ABSOLUTELY know that she spaces her dive kick wrong. If you want a better way to punish the dive kick, use air to air options whenever you predict/know that she will do a dive kick at a certain time. I’m still experimenting with these options but you can give them a try.
jump back MP, lk, (mk?) or even air grab works wonders. If your opponent knows you’re trying to counter their dive kicks, then mix it up.
