The Shinobi Secrets: Ibuki Video Thread

6-4 is slight in the opponents favor, not so bad where it’s worth dropping the match up.

I never played or talked to FoV. I never thought he was as good as ReiGn or Sweet. Just below them. ReiGn was probably the best player I’ve ever played in WC3 and he just didn’t win the big one which was unfortunate for him.

Dive kicks are just a part of her mix up game, I disagree on the simplicity, but I do feel that Cammy has better chances to correct her fuck ups, where Ibuki has more ways to fuck you up in the start.

Walk speed to me is weird, because I can see the huge disadvantage but I’ve never actually played against a Cammy nor have I seen where her MS is a deciding factor. I like Cammy’s dash though in almost every match up in this game.

Some matches of White Gun v2 looks like he is practicing up quite a bit

After seeing his offline tournament performance, I have absolutely zero confidence in the accuracy of these online matches, lol.

come on man =-/ he has to have gotten better

Well, getting double P’ed once does not mean being complete trash. Also, I’ve seen him beating a few guys on stream afterwards, so meh.

There is just one thing with me: everytime I watch him playing I get nervous. HE MOVES WAY TOO MUCH lol. Which is great against any player without patience (=95% of Xbox Live, me included), but will completely loose against any experienced tournament player. But I am sometimes saying to my screen “STOP MOVING! STAHP!!!” xD . Seems like he is slowing down, on these matches you just posted he looks way more calm.
But still relying on a lot of online gimmicks like command dash. Against Ryu for example, why would you possibly use HK Kazegiri while you have every untechable knockdown you need?
We want moar Ibuki anyway, so I hope his next tournament will be brighter

So in the last few days sonyono has been blowing up my news feeds, surprised theres nothing posted here. Seems like he came on the radar about a month ago and two days ago people started uploading his matches.

Check out his stuff: https://www.youtube.com/results?q=sonyono

my evaluation- excellent footsies, zero unblockables, lots of great frame traps, run of the mill option selects, terrible antiair reaction and perfect execution. Makes for a very entertaining ibuki, I’ve gleaned more than a tricks off his videos. I think the biggest problem is most of his setups are reactable or have an escape that he very obviously isn’t covering with an option select which will blow him up if he tries to compete in an offline tournament. Very solid (albeit online) play otherwise.

i came in to post a few of his vids and you beat me to it. ill be watching a few of those here at work. the execution is serious business .

That corner pressure against that Vega was so silly. What was he trying to do? Take off his claw? Its not like he was trying to get a counter-hit to combo from.

Actually he does, quite a few times, thats probably the biggest part of what I got out of that match. Heres notation and my analysis-

LP
walk forward
cr.LK (stuffed) ← manual CH setup
Focus ← expecting cr.mp, vega fails to get spacing right and does cr.lp, focus is released as wiff punish/stuff
Dash
cr.LK ← tech (good players in low lag settings will react stand tech and possibly get the throw on you)
Stand ← bait
cr.LK ← manual CH setup
cr.LP ← hit confirm
cr.LP ← additional (unneeded) hit confirm
cr.MP ← CH setup
LP ← hit confirm (not the best in my honest opinion, it’ll wiff on vega recoil)
Walk forward ← bait a stand tech
cr.LK ← tech if timed wrong, hits if timed properly (which it does), sets up for cr.mp
cr.MP ← assuming cr. LK doesn’t connect, it adds a randomization factor and throws off reads even though cr.lp would have combo’d. also CH setup.
f.LK ← hit confirm (wasted kind of)
MK tsumuji ← assumes f.lk doesn’t connect, leaves at 0 for df.mk.
df.MK (slide) ← closing space… would probably lose to cr.LP
cr.LP ← hit confirm
MK ← hit confirm
instant air lp kunai ← CH setup / randomization
MK ← hit confirm, combo into knockdown if kunai hits, dash if it misses
LK dash ← closing space
cr.LK ← tech again to cover players with good reactions doing a stand tech.
Very slight walk forward
MP ← CH setup, manually timed.
cr.LP ← hit confirm
cr.MP ← CH setup
f.LK ← hit confirm
cr.MK ← getting desperate
walk back ← reading a reversal

Also builds a bar of meter (which he immediately wastes lol)

Less about getting double p’d and more about how it happened in the first place. The second round he’s pushing just as many buttons as the first round with little to no adaptation.

He definitely used a few unblockables, but otherwise yes he looks good.

Whitegun isn’t that bad, he just went in with the wrong mentality at that time. I fought him a couple times and when he’s not autopiloting, he’s actually thinking. I’m pretty sure he’s going to make sure that does not happen again and try to correct those mistakes.

Good stuff with sonyono, using old-fashioned mix-ups and ambiguous cross-up’s are like the tradition of sf2.

came across white Gun yet again…

^ watching that made my brain hurt…

He seems to use dp xx FADC a hell of a lot to stay in on his opponent (without actually hitconfirming first, lol) and I didn’t think Ibuki could mimic this type of FADC pressure. I tested it in el room de training, and it turns out LK/MK/HK** Kazegiri xx FADC** is -13 on block. EX Kazegiri is the one that is -1 on block. The reason why it looks so safe (probably because most people assume that any dp xx FADC = relatively safe) and that he’s even able to get a cr.HP counterhit afterward (lol) is because Kazegiri xx FADC has very little if any block stun. Just try to do a perfect reversal against Kazegiri xx FADC. Even if you know it’s coming, it’s really hard lol. But it’s -13 so your reversal doesn’t have to be perfect to punish, unless it’s really slow. And of course, you can still simply mash jab, just like against fake command dash strings.

If you wanted to stay in on your opponent like this guy, maybe the better option is SJC into LP or MP kunai?

Are there any characters that have a DP FADC that are safe on block?

Define “safe”. You can always FADC backdash and be safe.

If you mean 0 on block or better, I think maybe Seth’s dp if you cancel the first hit, and I bet a bunch of EX dp’s in the game like Ryu’s. Well besides Ibuki’s EX Kazegiri I guess lol.

Look what I found today in the lab. Someone could explain me why this happen?

Why does what bit happen? It’s hard to tell what you find suprising without inputs or an explanation.
