FADC and Air throw against those dives is money, thank you for that. Air throw might be a bit more riskier because vega can throw you too. Other than the random kazegiri and neckbreaker, i thought you played pretty well.

Need to see some good level gameplay with practical use of ultra 2. I swear to god I go ten matches without using ultra regularly. there has to be some tricks, setups, mixups, better combos, etc for landing ultra 2. Yes i can do all the sjc combos etc but in a match the situations rarely come up.

Can you do the s.lk, s.mk TC SJC reliably? Then the situation should be coming up every time you have Ultra. You can hit confirm into it easily from crouching jab if need be.

As it stands I can’t so I usually pick U1 at the moment. The exception being against shotos. When I have it I like to hang around max c.MK range so that there is a gap if they go for the c.mk xx hadouken blockstring. Buffer the ultra whilst you’re in blockstun and hit KKK if on reaction. Used to do that one with Abel in vanilla :slight_smile:

You’re thinking too hard into the use of the ultra. This is defintely going to be a game where there are a lot of characters who are just going to reserve their ultra use for specific situations. Ibuki is going to be one of them. If you’re not using the ultra 2 very often that’s a good thing. It means the opponnet is not putting you in situations where u can use it any way. Ultra 2 is very strong at punishing fireballs and certain special moves on block and IMO that’s more important than the damage reduced setups into ultra off of SJC’s. As long as you’re building mad stun with Ibuki and landing lots of untech knockdowns you’re doing fine.

This isn’t Vanilla SFIV. The game isn’t so reliant on how many million setups you have into ultra anymore. It’s more based on fundamentals. Look at who people are considering for top tier. People like Guile who’s Ultra 2 doesn’t even do much damage and is rather difficult to even combo into. Use your fundamental tools and you’ll be beating anyone.

what blocked specials will it punish? I usually think of ultra 1 when it comes to punishing blocked specials, whereas U2 generally seems to miss

I know you can punish T Hawk’s air dive, or whatever it’s called, on block. Just can’t time it too early or too late. You could probably do it on Hakan’s slide grab move. Then again, you can just use Ultra I for that.
Don’t know of any others that come to mind at the moment.

So what exactly are Ibuki fundamentals? Eh, this might be the wrong topic, but whatever. I’ll try to get some videos up later.

You can punish anything that’s like negative 9 or worse on block. Like non EX Honda headbutts, Blanka balls etc. I believe with Blanka ball u have to walk forward a slight bit before u can punish but it works. Anything that has a good bit of pushback and delay after being blocked. Ultra one is better at punishing moves that keep the opponent close to u and have slight frame disadvantage like Ryu tatsus, Honda buttslams, shoryu FADC dash forward, Abel’s f+MK on hit or block etc.

s.LP, max range sweep, b+MP, s.HK and air throw for anti airs, landing HP neck breakers and following up with kunai vortex or jumping kick cross ups. Generally doing anything that will lead to an untech knockdown and will build stun. Play around in training mode and learn where all of her buttons and specials can be used. Set up record and practice against different situations with other characters.

Pretty good, apart from a few random neckbreakers here and there you play ALOT better against Vega then I do. Also, when you TC6 you skip the 2nd hit of mp, does that do more stun or something? 'cos I though doing the 2nd hit did more stun. I’ll have to check that out. Also, try not to wake up with Kazegiri.

Liking the c.lp*3, s.mk, into any special. might have to try it out with neck breaker i think :slight_smile:

Only think i might surgest is to practice a ncie vortex combo? didnt see many in that vid :chat:

FPS…the main things I see u needed to improve were your kunai vortex timing and not pressing buttons on people’s wake up. Your kunai timing was off like everytime. Kunai would hit the ground before Juri would wake up. That’s offline play too. No excuse. Oh and in SFIV ground based meaty attacks don’t work anymore. If you’re not hitting them with an air based attack when they wake up it’s a free reversal ultra. Stick to kunais or jump ins/cross ups when you are trying to hit somebody as they are getting back up off the ground. If you do a ground based attack as soon as they get up you’re going to eat ultra over and over.

Here are some videos of my ibuki. Im still testing many things with Ibuki, but I am coming to an end with what I set out to do in finding several useful vortex setups for Ibuki. Keep in mind that I am still making many mistakes because it is quite difficult.

I have some videos in the vortex thread which may demonstrate my vortex better. Also keep in mind that although in these videos I mainly use tsumiji for the vortex, you can also use forward throw, raida in corner, sweep (although the most difficult for me as of now), and neckbreaker.

I whole-heartedly agree, Jin. The kunai vortex is a BITCH to get down for me, and I don’t know why lol. Like its just the proper timing thats fucking me up, but I guess in all due time I’ll get it down like butter. As for not pressing buttons on opponent’s wakeup… yeah lol. Agreed. Sometimes, I don’t know why, but I just… “lock up”. Like I know I NEED to do an attack and I SHOULD, but my hands just… lock up. I should stop smoking weed. Its killing my brain lol.

I’m trying to get my footsies game down too. I’ve stopped jumping a lot and trying to strictly go off of mind games. There’s definitely progression, and I have vids of me getting destroyed by Devin (One of the top MD SFIV players) because of his mind games. Its kind of embarassing, but I’m actually learning from him and its helping me. My compuuter is being a fucking bitch though.

The only reason not to let the 2nd hit of the MP come out is if you are worried of being pushed too far for further links. At first I found it hard to adjust from hitting LP MP HP at the speed I did in 3S, but all it takes is a slight pause then hitting HP xx special or slight pause again for links.
