The Shinobi Secrets: Ibuki Video Thread

That Rufus got blown the fuck up by kunai mix-ups and ambiguous jump attacks. Also, it doesn’t seem like he knows the timing to safe jump Ibuki. Pretty interesting use of his st. punches to beat Ibuki.

SFxT is something of an…acquired taste. It’s mildly entertaining to play, but competitively, it’s pretty lackluster. It’s the anti-hype game. And call me crazy, but my idea of footsies doesn’t consist of chained hit confirms that lead to 20% damage at the minimum.

^This > the truth.
Without willing to act like those classic haters who hate on everything, I just don’t see what is actually interesting in SFxT in a competitive environment. Tried to play a lot, watched a lot of matches, and damn, this just still looks like Day One gameplay to me, and having played a lot of it, I don’t really see what could completely change it. I mean, I haven’t played SFxT for a month, went on youtube to check out the las replays and… day one all over again

Idk I played a lot of that game, and finally realised how silly and dumb it really is.

But anyways, about the Sako vid, his hitconfirms were on point as usual, the hardest part for me vs Rufus is that there are very few instances were I can land U2 (I dont use u1) whereas he has like 10 lol, so it makes it hard, specially when he’s low on health I need to make my mixups more safe or i’ll eat an Ex messiah into GGS.

At 6:20, what is this I don’t even… How what that possible?

Explination please ._.

Nothing special lol. Besides it was a mistake, Sako wanted HP xx MK target combo. Mingo and I already found j.HP cross ups, but they’re not very practical.

Also the Rufus sucked. Sako was just playing around, he wasn’t serious at all.

I’m not a classic hater, because I genuinely try to find shit I both like and hate about the game. And so far, the cons are outweighing the pros. I didn’t like SF4 when I first started playing it either, but I’m starting to realize that it is a fairly well-designed game. At least Vanilla and Super were, ever since those versions, the game is starting to favor more and more mix-up heavy characters, which culminated in SFxT’s design. That game is all about the ground game, mix-ups, and optimized combos.

I don’t really like U1 against Rufus, due to his insane mobility. Normally you use U1 to deter the liberal application of buttons so close to Ibuki, but Rufus’ dive kick seems to get him out of that trouble, and his propensity to take to the skies. I use U2 same reason I use it in the majority of my matches, to land bonus damage off of a hit confirm.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but you’re able to just super-jump after the initial hits of Messiah to avoid his mixups, and still land in time to punish.

That j.HP cross-up is neat, and the damage is pretty buff, but it seems pretty difficult to land consistently in a match, even against the fatties. And that Rufus was pretty bad, his offense was decent, but his defense is damn near non-existent. He seemed to be getting hit by a lot of random NBs and hits that shouldn’t be landing.

BTW, I just saw the video: Sako does EX neckbreaker - fwd dash - step fwd j.LK. This crossup was extremely invisible Oo

Sako vs Bipson starting at 14:03

I wonder why Sako never uses the unblockalols vs Bipson?

Also that youtube video pic would be pretty nice with a trollface on it.

Sigh, even Sako falls victim to cr.shorts and scissor kicks. I didn’t realize his cr.strong is pretty deadly as well.

At 20:34, when he ends his combo, did he just kara a command dash into a raida? Or are my ears deceiving me?

Yeah Bipson pressure is retarded. Even after the “nerf” in AE/2012 his LK Scissors pressure is retarded. That shit needs to be like -1 or something so characters who don’t have 3f normals or good reversal options can actually do something about cr.LK xx LK Scissors times infinity.

Is this the first time you’ve seen Sako’s Ibuki?

Real men don’t use unblockalol’s.
They use…

^ MOST AWESOME POST EVER SEEN IN TEH INTERNET

Haven’t really paid much attention to it. Fancy looking though.

Sweet, thanks for making my future avatar for me, lol. I just gotta cut it down now.

I have some video’s later on that I may show. Just had a rough tournament and one of my opponents was Jozhear. I’ll likely get yelled at the mistakes that I do, but I’ll try to combine them together and maybe get a few tips so I don’t repeat that mistake again.

edit nvm, Izuna posted them already.

Had to lol at this.

Oh hell no, it’s not like that lol.

This is what I was talking about. If you jump and you don’t get beat clean you should just keep doing it. Use the frustration to your advantage “he won’t jump again, but what if he does?” leaves people open to dashes and like. I don’t see Umehara ever doing this, but Kazunoko would answer with jumping too and doing an air normal.

That Ibuki barely did any option selects against m. bison.
This Ibuki was playing it safe, but I think a little too safe imo. Like in some area’s I think could of used more mix-ups, but went for the safer option almost every single time.
