Oh whatever. If the mirror match was that stupid it would be impossible to win consistently and it’d end up like 50/50. Besides Ken vs. Ibuki is at least 5.5-4.5.
The reason why I pointed that out is because it’s an option against Ibuki. It’s not as if people on these boards will never fight a mirror match, there are things to learn and there’s no point turning away from it. That’s why F-Word lost, he had the same attitude as you.
The interesting thing about F-Word in particular though is that in the same match he thinks that his opponent will switch up their set-up if it works, so he did the wake-up FADC 3 times in a row, or two DPs even if they didn’t connect. He will only switch it up the next round.
I lost patience against his Ken basically, and in a few rounds I wanted to win it as soon as possible. But the interesting thing is that F-Words counter for people who focus backdash after getting hit by EX Kazegiri are [dash forward -> empty Neckbreaker] or [dash forward -> HK Command Dash] – both are very unsafe.
So the reason why F-Word doesn’t FADC is because he trusts his guesses and doesn’t mind risking a lot. So he would do random neckbreakers or DP with no FADC because he’s confident. That’s a very bad habit, and it’s been like that ever since I watched him play maybe nearly 2 years ago now.
It probably would be if F-Word spammed unblockalols like you did.
Ibuki beats Ken imo at least 5.5-4.5.
F-Word lost because
He couldn’t handle your unblockalol spam
He wasn’t doing many (any?) unblockalols on you
Mash dp at the wrong times
Could not consistently punish your obvious wake up backdash/FA backdash.
Unblockalols make any matchup stupid. I also disagree with the gimmicky uses of command dash.
In any event, I still stick to my original point that both players were on autopilot, lots of shit went unpunished, unblockalols represented 90% of the damage being dealt, the matches I saw had little value/were pointless to watch, etc.
Ibuki has good counterpoke tools (eg: st.LP, f+LK), good space control tools (eg: cr.MP), a safe mixup game (ie: vortex), infinite tools to shut down fireballs and fireball zoning, good damaging/stunning combos, and best of all, several unblockalols that are relatively easy to setup and almost guaranteed anytime you get a hit and convert into a knockdown.
What does Ken have that makes this matchup somehow in his favor?
The Ibuki mirror matchup is all about getting the knockdown (duh), then spamming unblockalols. If you’re on the receiving end, it’s all about how “lame” you can play by never or almost never waking up blocking.
God, I played this matchup several times throughout the course of the night at my local arcade. It’s basically two hyper Ibukis running around, trying to land a knockdown on each other, but it’s not working, because everybody keeps doing dashing and doing focus attacks. It’s fun in that “let’s play a chaotic game of 4-player Smash with items on” kind of way.
And then whenever you do get knocked down, you try to find a way to backdash or focus-dash to safety. Or if the Ibuki gets clever and tries to do safe-jumps/mix-ups, more back dashes once the block string ends, or hitting cr.jab whenever you see the st.mk, in order to anticipate a command dash.
How did you expect us to respond to videos like that? Constant mashing, no real thought process behind your actions, no footsies, and just a lot of randomness all over the place. Of course F - Word lost, who is prepared for all that randomness
How so? Just saying how it is. I actually enjoy playing it, but there’s a sense of chaos and randomness to it. It’s not quite the tactical mental exercise, like a Ryu v. Guile.
Also Smash Brothers. But at least in SF there are many matchups which are very tactical and requires a sound strategy. Marvel is all about mixups, x-factor abuse, and occasionally some extreme keep away.
I thought F-Word would do that… Anyway I took the pictures of the messages so he can’t lie and say he won or anything like that.
When we first played Ranked, we played 6 Ibuki Mirrors (5-1 to me), and then he invited me to play a FT10 in Endless. He wins 10-9, picks Rufus, loses, then we play another FT5 which are the matches you see on the EdmontonGamers channel. He got annoyed and then said he would body me with his Ken.
Then we played Ranked, and at first he picks Ibuki and wins one mirror, then picks Ken out of confidence. He loses (in Ranked) 10-4 (I still have all the replays so I can take another picture) – I asked if I could upload and he says sure. The reason why it shows up as a FT5 instead as a FT10 is because there were 2 games in the set where we had to dash back into the corner because of extreme lag. The score in the FT5 is half of the FT10 and I didn’t think he would care since it’s online matches anyway.
Shiro was saying who is Izuna, that was right after Fword and I first met and he didnt know my name. Lol
Anyway yeah, I’m happy that he will just play the FT10, but it also baffles me as to why. You can say lag was the reason, but offline now everyone is going to see. Either way I’m definitely going, I just need to find a Stick and somehow make up for nearly 3 weeks of no play.

Flying back to the UK tonight; see you Tuesday though
It’s a fucking match video that i felt like posting, take your little rage case out on someone else, do i need to have to have the video have something to do with your little flame war with izuna in order to post a match video?
