nah not mad just sayinf fuck you =)
LOL… dont know why yall are hating on izuna… has his head gotten bigger?
im lol at “unblockable spam” as if there is such a thing. if its in the game its in the game, dont blame izuna for the game being shit…
also ibuki mirrors = ew, like, fuck playing this random jump/dash/jump/backdash scrubfest…
i hate ibuki mirrors.
then again, i dont really like sf4 so…
goes back into cave.

I don’t think anybody is hating on Izuna. I just think that showcasing these online matches of Ibuki mirror are kind of worthless.
Nor am I blaming Izuna for abusing unblockablols. Just that unblockable spam in this game is about as stupid as vanilla Phoenix going xfactor: not much your opponent can do and you’re not doing much work to get free damage.
not much to critique, you are better than me, but for your matches against f-words ken, i thought you were a bit to trigger happy on your ex kaze reversals ESPECIALLY when the opponent crossed you up in the corner… i think you reversaled there everytime. also you tend to reversal out of:
knockdown> safejump> throw/frame trap mixup. its easy to see cause i have the same habit… if you play the same people, they WILL start to key in on it and punish you consistently since its easy to see, but, its easy to know when they are looking to punish it as well. i was surprised to not see many more mp uppercuts from f-word on the kunia crossups… but meh.
also, just a general tip, you play the ken matchup alot like i play it, except that i play like that all the time, basically you start to get zoned out and then lose all your patience and just start dashing in at every opportunity… this is also very readable, of course dont stop till your opponents see it.
in general though in order to not get so zoned out… EVERY ibuki needs to start incorporating lk cd into there neutral game… it REALLY fucks my opponents spacings up… i think its one of ibukis most important tools for not getting zoned out and being able to safely advance on an enemy that wants to keep ibuki at a range where they can throw out random pokes against her regular dash and her hk dash.
once you start applying lk cd at the right times ibukis game really opens up… basically, so that you dont have to figure out where to use it via trial and error:
heres a tip… use it in those situations that you would use instant kunai jumpin. it doesnt get you close like the kunai, but you get into range where ibuki can threaten things like jumpin crossup lk or some poke/counterpoke and also takes away there “far” jump threat since she moves into perfect range to AA with B+mp.
also, since its so short ranged you can do cool shit like lk cd x2 to move in… believe me, it works. but just work on regular lk cd at neutral at first, once you get it, applying everything else comes natural since you already know her.
also, its opponent/matchup specific, though i could tell it would work against f-words ken well by the spacings he plays at (non scrub spacings)
cheers

F-Word – I can’t go on Tuesday. You win by default, I forfeit. I have just come back from Monaco and I have too much work to do. I don’t even have an Arcade Stick and I haven’t played in weeks. Remove these videos if you want, I don’t care.

I know you guys wanted to see this but I seriously can’t and there’s so much going on at the moment. I have about 6 videos/interviews to edit in just a week… Thanks Dime btw, that sort of critique isn’t just for me, but for other people. – I will say that MP Uppercut does not beat the Kunai Vortex when it’s done at the right time, I think he tried to do that when I looked at the inputs.
Anyone know the Chun-Li matchup from both shores? I am Chun main having some Ibuki problems. That particular subforum is not as active as I hoped, however.
I can PM the footage or just link to here if here if ever. Thanks in advance!
- Play footsies (spam st.MP)
- Don’t let Ibuki get in/jump/etc.
- ???
- Profit!
Your primarily goal is to not get knocked down, and to stop her from getting close to you. Fortunately, you play Chun, so you’re already designed for this kind of stuff. Your pokes are vastly superior on the ground, and if Ibuki tries to get clever by focus attacking to crumple you, or at least get close, get into the habit of cancelling your pokes into lightning legs or her fireball. Ain’t a damn thing Ibuki can do to a cr.mk xx lightning legs.
If Ibuki jumps at you, it’s either going to be with a kunai, or a j.lk or j.mk. If you have good reactions, you can knock her out of the hair with a jump attack, if she goes for a regular jump attack, you have a lot of anti-air options to deal with it, or simply just dash or focus dash to get away. Plus, you have ex SBK.
If she knocks you down, it’ll get a little rough for you. Bad Ibukis will just attempt to kunai you on wake-up, which you can avoid with dashes or focus dashes for the most part. EX SBK will also get you out of trouble against the average Ibuki. Against smart Ibukis who know how to utilize safe-jumps and mix-up their kunai spacing/timing, you’re going to have some trouble. It’s fairly easy to safe-jump Ibuki.
If Ibuki spams tsumuji kicks (her spinning axe kick thingy), realize that your super can punish the lk version, if memory serves. You Ibuki players out there, please confirm this. If Ibuki goes for the 3-hit kicks, the 3rd hit is NEVER a true blockstring. You can do an ultra, super, EX SBK, focus, anything, to punish or avoid it.

cr.MK xx lightning legs is good, but Chun has better options, especially since cr.MK is kind of a worthless poke in comparison to Chun’s other options. If Ibuki is FA-ing, she’s usually doing it to fish for one of your slower pokes, usually sweep. Depending on spacing, you could simply toss a fireball (if you have charge) and then followup with a sweep, regardless if Ibuki is even in range. The idea is that once Ibuki sees the absorb animation, she’s either going to dash up, release, or backdash. Sweep pretty much beats the first two (unless you time your sweep wrong you might get crumpled) and is safe against the backdash. Another option is to st.MP xx lightning legs, which is kind of hard. Another similar option is to st.MP xx hazanshou. Hazanshou will almost always avoid Ibuki’s FA attack and give you a free hit (knockdown?). st.MP xx fireball is a terrible idea due to the fireball startup; you’ll simply just get crumpled because of the counterhit FA. Might be good if Ibuki does FA xx forward dash, but Chun has better, safer options. You can off course also use your own FA which is also a safe way of dealing with Ibuki’s FA. If you have down charge, (whiff) cr.MK xx (buffer) EX sbk is also a relatively safe option since Chun’s cr.MK has pretty fast recovery.

Ibuki’s primary way of getting in is going to be via jumping, simply because Chun has bad antiairs and Ibuki has lots of options to mix up her jump trajectory to make antiairing very very hard for Chun. If you have charge, EX sbk is a pretty universal option; however, this costs meter and isn’t very efficient. Nj.HK and early j.HP are also two universal options, but may require good reactions and can put you at risk if Ibuki doesn’t jump; ie: Ibuki can trip guard you with Neckbreaker. Lastly, reaction U2 is a good universal way of dealing with any jump Ibuki does, except crossups.
-
If Ibuki does LK Tsumuji (the quick 2hit version; should be easy to see with some practice), HK Tsumuji (slowest 2hit version; not too easy to see even for Ibuki veterans), or any 3rd hit (low or high of either MK or HK or EX Tsumuji low ender; very easy to see even if this is your first time playing vs Ibuki), then you can reversal super.
Pretty much anytime Ibuki does not do 2hit MK Tsumuji or EX Tsumuji all hitting high, Ibuki will be at -2 or worse on block, meaning you get a free super. It isn’t a common situation since Chun should be saving/spending her meter entirely on EX SBK to get out of vortex situations in this matchup, but incredibly useful once Chun has super to limit Ibuki’s Tsumuji pressure options.
Lastly if you block EX dp from Ibuki and you have U2 stocked, just mash it and it’ll be guaranteed.
“Hazanshou will almost always avoid Ibuki’s FA attack and give you a free hit (knockdown?)”
Free combo, you can time a c. lp/c. lk or even a straight-up Super if you see an HSU hit. EX version is invincible on the way up and hard knockdown on hit.
Many thanks guys.
F-Word managed to get the mirror matches taken down. He’s never beat me in a set versus him and I’m not going to waste my time getting a stick and travelling just to please his emotions, when he’s going to censor FT5s that HE asked me play. Who knows what crap he’ll say if I win the FT10 at WSO.
I’ve done this too many times to fall for it again, now I’m demotivated to get a new stick for SFxT. FGC has some knobs that ruin it for everyone. I’m also very annoyed that my new apparent team leader would trust him more maybe 'cause he has a sponsor or something.
– So basically
As a leaving message: F-Word censored the FT5 he suggested because he lost 5-1. People in the FGC will like you if you start out good, but if you’re bad at first then end up beating someone they’ll most likely be angry at you. Also no matter how good you become at this game, people only care about tournament results (even though the best don’t necessarily win tournaments because it’s only Bo3). Hopefully the Ibuki Player Guide Rev.3 is enough for you guys in these forums, but as I said, I do not have an Arcade Stick, and don’t count on me playing SFxT now.
…got the replays? like 2 see izuna in action;) fight yesterday against f word…it was very close @_@
^-- I mean to say “I’m not going to waste my time”
Cool story bro.
Also, what gets posted on the internet, stays on the internet. The videos might be taken down but I already saved them to my hdd.
So, basically F-Word is just like any other top player that cops an attitude and an ego just because they’re good at video games?
For anyone who wants to keep the FT5 I guess. To be honest, EPG Kooky Ibuki is world’s better as Ibuki than F-Word. If my opinion means anything and you guys do trust me, F-Word lost worst offline but there was no recording, and he is too stubborn to adopt any ideas from me even though I’ve practiced the mirror match more than anyone else.
I normally wouldn’t care, but calling me a liar when I’m not crosses the line for me. F-Word’s Ibuki is very basic, and imo I’ve played smarter Ibuki players on these boards. Even though he may be patient since he used to play 3S, he does not play AE Ibuki properly as you’ll see in the upcoming tournament.
I guess EPG Kooky Ibuki is better in the Ibuki matchup, can’t say about the other matchups though.
Anyway F-Word always had a basic Ibuki, he never does anything fancy or execution-requiring, but well, he still manages to end up in top 16/top 8 of whatever big tournament he plays in, so I wouldn’t call him a basic player.
I just think, just like you, that he’s definitely not using all of Ibuki’s possibilities (and he’s very far from using all of this).
You wanna play a smart Ibuki? I’d encourage you to contact Saunic. Seriously. He plays Ibuki exactly how she should be played imho.
As a very simple example, Starnab continuously says that he hates Ibuki because of all of her gimmicks. He always looses to Saunic. And he almost always beat F-Word, 'cause his Ibuki staying basic is exactly what he needs to pwn her.
Whatever. Who cares about him calling you a liar. If I was you I’d just do my best to join a tournament and show the world that you’re above him, but you don’t have time for this stuff. Otherwise those words will just stay words people don’t even care about
Speaking about being smart, I really need to improve my overall vision of the game. I’m way too goddamn autopilot right now (and the worst thing is, it works so fine that sometimes I’m like “so why shouldn’t I play continuously as an autopilot?”), I need to think more when I play. My vortex is very strong, but my ground game (Izuna, you already noticed it) sucks balls. Let’s have more fun reading the opponent then =)
Exactly why I keep saying cool story bro.
Try playing some matches without using vortex at all. Either do safe jumps or meaty pressure when you knock your opponent down. Or maybe don’t even pressure at all.
