The Shinobi Secrets: Ibuki Video Thread

There was a Momochi set-up from way back that used it as some sort of Vortex starter, but I think it left her at negative frames so it never really worked as a meaty set-up. I would like to know what CAPCOM actually wants this move to become…

I wonder if this throw-invincible Raida can be used against Abels that like to use EX TT against safe jump attempts…

Yes but… why not just do her overhead for a hit-confirmable combo (possible double tsumuji loop) and better knockdown?

so even the first frame of ibukis overhead start up is throw invincible?

Overhead = airborne Ibuki = Throw invincible

I dunno if they changed the properties of her f+MK besides the 1f faster startup, but back in Super/AE I measured it to be throw invincible at frame 3.

Mingo is right, the first frame isn’t throw-invincible, but if you do a safe-jump set-up and replace the j.X with nothing, you’ll recover before he does so you’ll be airborne as he does a Reversal EX TT.

Izuna I wouldn’t mind being part of this video series, that is if you think I qualify

Just to show off, I wouldn’t actually depend on a random Raida to beat a command throw. Besides, it’s far more fun to OS the ultra1 to catch Abel’s desperate EX roll…and he WILL eventually do it.

Is it just me, or does it feel easier to combo after the overhead the further away you are from your opponent? I seem to do it VERY well if I’m barely within st.mp range, but any closer, and I tend to drop the link. That or I accidentally get st.lk, st.mk target combo, which seems to also combo a lot easier than just a st.mk. I have odd execution problems…:frowning:

  1. This unblockable is SO delicious. A few nights ago I was bodying this terrible Ryu. In round 3 I started doing the unblockable setups, and he just rage-quit his cabinet after the 3rd repetition, LOL.

  2. This has never really worked for me, but I have somehow developed a strange sense of timing of when to do a jump kunai against shotos to stuff their DPs. With the st.lp it feels a bit telegraphed to me, and they never risk a reversal DP, also I tend to do it unsafe and end up eating a bnb on recovery from my jump. fml.

Hey Izuna, I think if you did commentary like Chris Hu, you’d be legendary

Well N A Z G H OU L is making me waste time so sure get some matches again PL or that Claw guy or something =) thanks for asking!

PL?? Claw Guy - you mean doctor claw?

Yeah, but don’t worry about getting another known player or something, I’m not going to be picky about replays at this point!

All commentary for every game should be replaced with Chris Hu’s commentary.

I found this on youtube a while back and I think it’s useful for mashers lol  Make them whiff their moves >:O Unless they’re pro and they delay on purpose

Old stuff, but you’re probably better off simply blocking if you’re going to bait a reversal. At least that way you can also block wakeup normals (eg: crouch tech) and tech wakeup throws with a delayed crouch tech.

Unless I guess in the rare event you’re worried about getting chipped out or absolutely must have your opponent’s reversal whiff (eg: take away FADC option), or if you’re just styling on your opponent.

Isn’t this what Ibuki is all about? =D

You’re more likely to get jabbed out of that, or fail to punish a Cannon Spike 'cause you’re too far.

If you simply want to style on your opponent then fair enough, but that mentality isn’t going to make you win more consistently.
