I believe you’re right with that guess. Most likely because the character is falling or horizontal, their space taken becomes wider. Then as soon as you start your TC they’re a bit further back than they are normally.
Alright gents! Time to embarrass myself here.

The Makoto here wasn’t that strong… but oh well.
(Ibuki vs. Rose)
Probably my best one of the three. I managed to land some Kunai vortex during the first round, chocked the second round, and fucked up a vortex by doing a super instead. That reminds me, do you guys do a special motion for the Vortex without risking doing a super by accident when you have full meter? Maybe it’s just me I dunno…

Fuckin links, links, LINKS! I kept fucking them up throughout the whole match. This was a really scrubby match.
Well there you go guys. I’ll probably post more if I get anymore decent matches. The replay theater is AWESOME.
Anyways, feedback is always welcomed.
I’ve got a few matches to share! These replays really help with self analysis. I’m really glad Capcom implemented the mode!

Alrighty, gonna be uploading about 5 more matches tomorrow but these two I made sure to upload first as I thought they were the best

Highlights:
- Probably one of the best matches Ive had so far. I was doing really well in some areas and just shoulda made a few different decisions
- Ultra II punish off cr.mk xx Hadouken in the 2nd round
- Getting better at using b+mp

Highlights:
- Can’t think of any, but I thought it was a fun match
quick tip: when you see someone FA feint from anything but full screen you should neckbreaker on reaction. it breaks armor and catches all but the fastest dashes.
I think the biggest problem I see in these vids is the total lack of fundamentals. I think a lot of people here would benefit if they just stopped what they’re currently doing, and go through a series of matches using only normals and throws. You’re probably going to lose a lot initially (especially since Ibuki doesn’t really have anything super abusable), but I’m pretty confident that it’ll make you a much, much better player in the end.
I personally operate on the philosophy that specials/supers/ultras should only be used in combos, as punishers, or abused (if abusable), otherwise, they shouldn’t be used at all. My thoughts on FAs are even less…maybe it’s just the old man in me, I dunno, but I think approaching it like this, along with keeping note of specific things that are beating you down (and then reproducing them in training mode so you can figure out how to beat it) is the best way to improve.
:love::love::love:
I need to work on my vortexes as stated. I just can’t get the timing right. Seems like everytime I try to go for it, the kunai gets blocked, or I get stuffed
Albedo, good stuff! I’m sorry I can’t critique properly. I’m actually learning by watching you and the other guys to incorperate strats and ideas into my gameplay. So everyone who’s posting videos, I’m definitely watching and taking notes. Thumbs up to all you Ninjas
Your videos were both good. It’s nice to see other ibuki players. I’m by no means an expert with her but here are a few things I saw that could help clean up your game.
In response to video 1:
-You did a great job with your footsies, you had a strong use of her b.mp to deal with the akuma player’s jump ins.
-I’d be careful about getting into a habit of command dashing on wake up. It may work once or twice but if your opponent is ready for it, they will punish it… hard.
-Don’t forget about her sweep! c.hk is a ridiculously good move with her.
In response to video 2:
-Don’t use neckbreaker as much, especially in such telegraphed situations (i,e. full screen), it’s a free punish. While it’s great to punish fireballs, normal players won’t let you do it like 4 times >.>
-Work on setting up a vortex after a knockdown, try to keep him down over and over again. Backdashing after a knockdown should only be done if completely necessary
double post makes me sad
posting the one vid I have. I dont have a clue about the matches yet btw. Oh, and sorry about the glare on the TV but, I did ask…

if anyone could suggest a decent spacing VS Guy that’d rock. His normals seem good n damaging so up close seems nasty but far dont seem great either… ?
In the first round you were too reckless, you shouldn’t be jumping in on Shotos (or anyone with viable DPs) so often, that’s what they want you to do. You cleaned this up later though, in general, you should be staying on the ground unless the situation calls for you to go to the air.
Lay off all those FA faints, outside of that one random FA hit you got with it, it really wasn’t doing much of anything, or maybe it was and I’m giving your opponent too much credit.
Your fundamentals are better than most of the other videos I saw here, you just need to work on setting up those untechable knockdowns, such as comboing into neckbreaker vs launcher. Outside of maybe as a gimmick to mix it up, I don’t really see any benefit to comboing into launcher…
Likewise, need to work on those links, you could have done c. lp into combo a few times those matches and it would have made your life a lot easier.
As I’m sure everyone else here has figured out by now, Ibuki really needs to be able to control the tempo of the match in order to be successful, however, this does not equate to Ibuki having to rush that shit down. In order to control the tempo, you need a solid understanding of Ibuki in all of her areas, and you need to observe your opponent, because I assure you, that is what a good player will be doing to you (for the first round at least). Still, a better showing than some of the others I’ve seen thus far.
Yeah since I mained Viper I never got into the whole running focus attacks left and right thing. Viper’s focus attack was so bad that I pretty much just stuck to only using the focus dash to move in against certain attacks and then promptly throw. Using the actual attack was pretty much just to see what would happen (usually u getting hit or it getting blocked). People need to add more SF2 into their gameplay and only use the focus attacks for obvious situations (like a Rog repeatedly using LP dash punches or Blanka using df+HP slide).
Oh and that match vs. Gouken…no need to run EX neckbreak so much. All of Gouken’s fireballs (even the LP one that goes straight) are high ranged fireballs. Meaning that HP neckbreak will go under all of them. Plus HP neckbreak doesn’t throw you to the other end of the screen like EX does and gives you a perfect set up for cross up/vortex. When you’re far away from Gouken and he’s throwing fireballs don’t worry so much about landing free damage. Just df+MK slide under those fireballs. df+MK slide is your first tool for going under fireballs…neckbreakers come second after you move in closer. Just make sure you see Gouken throwing the fireball or u just absolutely know he is going to throw one otherwise you’re going to get punished.
When Gouken has ultra the first thing u should be doing is looking to tech throws at any situation. Gouken turns into a semi Zangief once he has ultra. Especially scrub Goukens…all they’re looking to do is back throw u into ultra. So always be ready to press throw to tech when Goukens start getting close to you. If you notice though Gouken’s back throw takes a long time to start up and the game gives you a longer time to escape than regular throws. So you pretty much have no excuse for getting back thrown as long as you are looking for it.
EDIT: So it was the same video. LOL.

dude you have a pretty awesome ibuki…good stuff!
Don’t know if anyone posted it yet…
I’ve only seen one of the Dictator matches, but I liked what I saw. Some solid fundamentals (and you block, this is a good thing). I noticed you messed up on the c. lp x 2, s. lp link a lot, is there a reason you pick that over say, c. lp x 2, s. lk link? I haven’t seen the frame data, but for me, it’s a lot easier to land that link, and while Bison can escape vortex crap, that extra dmg and extra guesses he would have had to make might have turned the tide in your favor.
I also saw a couple of times where you got antsy and started jumping recklessly, but otherwise, that was a good match.
Yeah I started messing around with it seriously last night. Usually I just do cr. lpx2, st. mk into stuff. Thing that I noticed from all the sets is it seems to give better advantage on block. Plus cr. lpx2, st. lp, you get a perfect cross up opportunity plus walk up jab counter hit games as well as being at the perfect distance to footsie with st. mk or sweep. What I wanted to do in the Dictator matches but did a bad job of doing was on knockdown get him afraid to try and use escapes and then start comboing in to neckbreaker and starting the meaty kunai games from there.
Also in that particular set I did a bad job of teching so I gave away a lot of damage in the set plus my kunai angles were ass. I’ll tighten up in that regard for sure.
I have some videos that I can share finally. I wish I could’ve found better ones, but this is all I have.

I made some really dumb mistakes, so I’m trying to stop making those easy ones (like not taking advantage after successfully FAing an enemy, DP on wakeup, missing links, and psychic neck breakers lol, etc.). I also need to learn to block better.
Also, what should I do when T Hawk does that straight forward dive at me? Both on block or not on block. I keep following for it and get thrown afterwards.
Thanks for the vid reply DevilJin. I’ll keep that in mind. Usually I can neckbreaker on reaction to dash punches when they’re further away but didn’t really know what to do when they were closer except block (which didn’t work obviously )
