The Shinobi Secrets: Ibuki Video Thread

I thought they started at like 8am EST or something.

They’re starting AE soon I believe.
Edit: It’s starting! Iyo just beat Amiyu. It was close though he was down 3rd round but he knocked Amiyu down in the corner with bnb ex tsumuji raida wiff st. hp crossup light kick and Amiyu did wakeup super it wiffed and Iyo did U2.

You try to play solid, I respect that. But

  1. Why press so many buttons midrange against Yun? You know Hugo101 is on autopilot mode and you know he’s going to dive kick spam. Being more patient and waiting to antiair would have been better than trying to play st.MK footsies with him.
  2. Why do you almost always FA before forward dashing? It’s a mark of a flowchart Ibuki, and unless you’re expecting to absorb something, you’re only making your dash up setup slower.

Also I wish you went for high damage combos (why is cr.LP cr.LP st.MK xx Neckbreaker your punish?), but other than that, good shit.

Also $20 for a Nico nico stream? Yeah fuck that. When can I youtubes the restream?

I was on autopilot too it was so late lol I tried tsumuji loop once messed it up and didn’t risk trying it again. The tournament was on Xbox, and even though I have an Xbox at home I play at the arcade most of the time and the timing is different that’s why I missed jab jab st.mk a few times. I go to the arcade in between my classes since it’s across the street from my college. Guess I’m just making excuses and I could’ve just not played at the arcade that day and practiced everything at home the day before.

It was Yun, who cares.

Yeah, Sako’s Ibuki > Iyo.

Sorry fan girls.

That’s kinda what I thought when I lost lol
Daigo/Iyo’s in top 4 after beating Momochi/Bonchan

I’m sorry that Iyo doesn’t do big and risky combos for you. There’s a reason why he’s the most consistent.

Because his execution is bad?

This is not the case, he just realises that for every missed Tsumuji Loop, he’d have to make up for it by doing so many. Even an 80% success rate (I’m so not doing the maths) isn’t worthwhile. He’s never gone for that stuff, even since CvS2.

BTW you won’t get a restream… Someone willl probably do the silly thing which is show off the Semi-Finals and Finals, but Tougeki needs the money from the DVDs so it’s very frowned upon usually.

Oh, and he doesn’t have a modded stick so Tsumuji Loops are 2-frame links.

This is the case of playing super-safe and it isnt a good thing. you have to take risks if you want to win.
and if u never try risky stuff, you wont be able to pull it off consistenly. look at poongko, dude mastered risky play to such extent that it looks like normal lol.
non-modded stick is lame excuse and is irrelevant.

But he wins though, he’s the Japanese National Champion. Poongko is a very good player, but it’s unlikely his playstyle can have him win a larger set. Most of what makes him win is his ability to come up with creative set-ups no one has seen before, if you watch his matches closely, after playing with the same person for so long he actually doesn’t play risky at all.

My point it being a non-modded stick is that at SBO, you’re at the Arcades. You don’t have the comfort of your favourite chair, with the same temperature you’re used to. Sako playing at the Arcades hits really good stuff, but he occassionally misses them too. The extra damage you get off of a Tsumuji Loop isn’t game changing.

He does take risks. He crouch-techs, he goes for frame-traps, he jumps/dashes in. That’s all the risk you should take, not putting a whole knockdown and 200+ damage on the table just for an extra 50 (not actual numbers, but you get my point).

I really don’t understand how consistency isn’t attractive to some of you.

You’re dumb. Did you even see the matches? He was the national champion with Dhasim, not Ibuki. He did stupid shit like point blank ST.MK into neckbeaker randomly, how is that solid? Why is he the most consistent? Because he has the most amout of battle points?

I’m actually pretty sure you didn’t even watch the matches, and are getting defensive for no reason.

He’s definately not ass anymore, he’s actually pretty good. Saying something like he doesn’t go for Tsumuji loops because his stick isn’t modded is pretty fucking retarded. Didn’t you say so yourself that even you get loops down like 95% of the time on PC and that arcade is just like PC?

I’m sure they’ll be a restream. And by I’m sure, I mean there is already.

Last time went to the Arcades, out the the 11 matches I played I missed 3 Tsumuji Loops. Those were the rounds I lost, and I would have won the others without using them.

Your others points are good though, but I did see the matches. I’m watching very closely because of what I can put into the newer guide.I don’t get why he does j.MK instead of j.HP.

You guys remember my guarunteed chip set-up on T.Hawk with U1? In 2012, it going to be a very nice set-up because of U1 comboing on airborne opponents. I just hope that it still causes a knockdown, but for now I’ll just keep with st.LK (OS xx st.MK) U2.

Ibuki can go over reversal psycho crusher with f+MK, forcing Bison players to wait before escaping. Train them to do that then throw. Cool.

Link plox.

Tsumuji -> Neckbreaker, w. Works for him too much at the Arcades. There’s more but it’s private and SRK is the wrong place to post.

I almost spat out my cereal when I saw that he didn’t SJC U1 to finish the round. How many frames does CH add? cr.MP into st.LP isn’t the sort of thing Iyo would normally go for.

Then pm it to me. Who cares.

I actually think Tsumuji Loops has become a bad habit. There’s a gaping hole in my chest whenever it costs me an opportunity to win.

… vagina-tax I guess.
