The Shinobi Secrets: Ibuki Video Thread

I don’t get how that video is related at all. You don’t even go for the full rep of loops on Vega.

P.S. Post more Iyo matches.

Here’s Iyo just before SBO…

You know, I completely forgot you can loop him twice.

EDIT: Vega this, Vega that… I’ll get into the habit of using the localised names someday.

Sorry I can’t share the private videos… Unless I downloaded them and re-uploaded them myself, made them unlisted, and just share to you guys, but you really are the market for the SBO DVDs.

Lol. Ohhh man. So how does it feel when you lose a match cause you never go for anything big?

I just noticed he uses Ultra 1 against Bison, lol. I can’t believe he’s still just using U1 against everybody, what a scrub lol.

I remember when my friend FlashMetroid went to Japan in the Vanilla days for SBO. He told me that Japanese didn’t like SJC’ing into Ultra 1 (With Viper) because it was too risky. Like, it’s not risky when you’re not ass to be honest lol.

Iyo either needs to start doing SJC U1, or stop picking U1 in match-ups that it will never work in.

It feels terrible, like I wish Ibuki had her damage output from Super. My next step? Learn to follow up on EX Kazegiri FADC…

No, he just needs to actually stop being a bitch and pick Ultra 2 and learn to hit it consistently.

What are you talking about EX Kazegirl FADC?

You know, the basic EX Kazegiri FADC (on hit) st.HK combo (into either Kazegiri -> safe-jump or cr.HP CD).

EDIT: I love Kazegiri into Super so much.

Gotta cancel Kazegiri fast or else your ST.HK will whiff.

I never go for Kazegiri into Super lol.

Thanks.

It’s awesome chip damage and unless st.MK into Super is consistent, it’s the best most damaging way to combo into super after a cr.LP. Though, you have to watch out for how far (and close) your opponent is to the corner to switch between the different version of Kazegiri and super.

Corner: HK Kazegiri, LP Super

Mid-screen (Ibuki’s close): HK Kazegiri, MP Super
Mid-screen (Ibuki’s far, bnb range): LK Kazegiri, HP Super

Silly characters like Chun-Li: MK Kazegiri, LP Super (late)

For some reason that’s easier for me to remember than making sure I hit LP Super after st.MK SJC than HP Super. I blame 2nd Impact…

I don’t like it. It feels too inconsistent to be honest. I’d rather go for the tsumuji loop and get like 40 less damage but still have super stocked for more important things (unless obviously you can guarantee a kill) and a safe jump/vortex set up.

So how can I get this SBO 2011 dvd?

Depends on the button pressed.
light = +1
medium = +2
heavy = +3

light/medium/heavy as in jab/strong/fierce.

This is generally speaking though, and certain stuff will probably give more frame advantage than others.

Also for some reason the SRK wiki has conflicting information. But whatever, Ibuki’s only useful counterhit setup is f+LK xx tsumuji anyways. And maybe cr.MP , st.MK xx tsumuji but that would probably be a 1f link.

Ffs please learn to reaction punish whiffed ultra. It’s not as bad as a whiffed C.Viper ultra, but I’m sure you can figure something out.

Agreed. I have enough character specific shit to memorize, and I don’t need to memorize more just for this rare occasion I might want to kazegiri into super. Doing TC4 xx SJC super is easy enough, and my stick execution is shit; I still can’t even SJC U2 consistently. And you can always just random Hien xx super, which still catches everyone I play btw, including those offline folk I play all the time.

I haven’t dropped this combo for a couple of weeks though, there’s only a few characters that you have to switch up to, and the rest of the differences are like muscle memory. BnB goes to one, TC4 goes to another, and the corner is different. It’s perfectly fine. Did it a bunch today too.

Hien -> Super has never worked against Ryan Hart for me, I don’t recommend it against better players.

The first time he did the Ultra, I couldn’t have punished that, besides, I have to be sure it whiffs because whilst I’m standing I may block it. The second time, I guess… It’s not too important though. The best players don’t throw it that far from the corner.

cr.MP, st.LP is a 1-frame link… I THINK he did it because he’s used to doing a meaty cr.MK or LK, and he wanted to do st.MP, but because he’s human he messed up. I don’t see him doing this outside of SBO so it’s weird.

What about different spacing? TC4 or TC4 , st.LP , st.MK or 1x tsumuji loop or 2x tsumuji loop?

Maybe you’re just too predictable with your Hiens.

Just block up to the point where his should should hit you, then input neckbreaker. Think of it as an option select.

Anyways, wtf can I find these SBO 2011 dvds?

TC4 would be considered close, and TC3, st.LP, st.MK would be considered far. It’s really easy to see but one way of being sure is to practice doing st.MK, HK Kazegiri, MP Super until Ibuki is too far and the Super causes a knockdown. Apart from Chun-Li, I can’t think of the other character… I’ll give this a test later, there’s someone else in the cast who seems to fall faster so you have to change it up.

I’m sure either that’s it, or Ryan, who’s a great Tekken/VF Player, and stupidly good reactions. I mean, in Tekken you have too tech throws by looking at which hand the other character uses. Punishing crouch-techs isn’t what I’m talking about though, that should always work.

I suppose I should run this drill through on Training Mode to get it down. May cost me a whole match in the future.

They would be out yet but… It looks like they have stopped selling it on PA. I gotta ask around, because if they say they won’t ship to out of Japan any respect I had for their laws will go.

You keep on talking about Iyo like you see him play consistently. Like, we already saw how he plays, he’s nothing special. You don’t have to cover up for him.

I’d really like to see these matches against Ryan Hart if you have any.

Hmm, maybe I should go down to WSO on Tuesday. The tournament happens every week but I kinda… I’ve been too busy (in the bs sense) to play more with the recent Ryan.

I think my brother put it best: I’m biased of Iyo because of how good he used to be, and any “mistake” he makes now is just a “mistake” to me. I won’t admit he’s not as good as he used to be.

I dunno if that’s true, but it very well could be.

Maybe, I honestly think you give him way too much credit. I thought his Ibuki was boring as hell in Super, and even though he’s gotten a lot better, he’s not really on the same level as Sako. I think you’re merely basing the fact that he has the most points in the arcades and had the most points on XBL and that is supposed to make him the best.

Battle points don’t really mean anything. Look at Daigo, 400k BP and he’s ass. He just has nothing to do and plays all day.

This pretty much explains why most of the “top” players are top. If you wanna go pro, you have to live with your parents and play SF 24/7 (eg: Tokido and Mago).

Must be nice to be 30 and still leech off your parents so you can fufill your dream of becoming a World Warrior.
