Serious question, how much do you think the game has improved with S3?
Maybe my expectations were too high but I don’t think things are that much different from before
not at all.
online and matchmaking is the same.
you have now some new singleplayer modes no one wants to play due to no real rewards.
colors still are bound to survival.
but there are now more chars to pick so…that can count as a improvement.
balance changes are still kinda…eh…
the ae “hype” hold for a week before the playernumbers dropped again to its previous state.
Personally, I like it a lot more. The extra VT’s and balance changes improved the game for me (but that could be cause it changed a character from one I wanted to like, into one I actually like amd want to main).
I don’t like what they did to FM though, and I was hoping for a netcode and input lag fix, but overall, I do think the game is improved.
We are getting the input lag and netcode fix along with the S3.5 balance changes on April 17th 2018.
tell that yourself and the “million” new people who bought ae…
ed- blanka will solve all online issues. just pick him and have fun no matter the connection.
The improvement to medium and heavy button anti airs makes a difference for me. Noticed a change, even at the Silver level. You can do enough damage to make your opponent reconsider jumping. Heck, it’s made me more cognizant of my jumps.
I have a better idea!
Finally, my cable modem was replaced and with that I have double the upload speed I had and a modem with better routing technology.
Hopefully that will allow me to have smoother matches against US and Canada based people again.
I shall see that tonight!

I’m enjoying the game more.
-Online matches me up with people closer to my rank now, so I haven’t had to face any platinums or worry too much about getting robbed on LP.
-Extra battle is a different/better way to go about challenging and rewarding the player (as long as you’re paying attention to what the reward is).
-Regular challenges give out less FM, which sucks, but it’s still basically 15-20 minutes to get some easy FM. The extra battle soldiers do pay out more though.
-Seeing the frame advantage in training and during replays now is extremely helpful in coming up with tactics and breaking down situations.
-Jumpin’s and AAs overall make more sense.
-2P can finally rematch (why it took this long, IDK).
-I finally had to use the blacklist feature to deal with some really suspect connections, so I’m glad it’s there.
-Can view your overall stats (winrates, how often you tech are throw or land a super etc.) if you care about that stuff.
-Content wise, there’s A LOT now. I got the season 1 characters with just FM, but then bought the season passes for season 2 and 3, so my FM goes toward stuff like stages, music and outfits now. It’s a ridiculously huge package now at this point if you really look at it compared to what they started with in Feb 2016. Granted, they’d be a lot better off with their fanbase if they started with some of the stuff they have now. By the time SF6 gets announced, I’ll actually be kind of disappointed with how much of this stuff built over the years will just no longer be used.
Other than their balancing method (which seems to be blatant on who they want to have ridiculously good stuff and who they don’t. Or they just lack foresight/proper playtesting which is also disappointing), they’re doing much better imo. A few lingering things I want for the game to truly satisfy me (but don’t have high expectations on it happening):
-Region filter for online matchmaking.
-Reduced input delay overall (by 2 or 3 frames)
-Fix the lag that occurs on some stages even offline.
-Chun Li with a better throw range, so she can play SFV.
-Ryu EX Donkey Kick to wall bounce higher, so he can get options off of it in the corner and better reset ability midscreen.
-When you’re recording an opponent to do something in training, your original character goes into whatever state you have the training dummy set to (so something like they “guard all” if you want to set up a blockstring pattern to defend against).
…I don’t get as many bad connections as some people report in here, so it’s personally not very high on my wish list of things to improve (but it would be cool if they could make it better for other people’s experience). However, I still think there are a lot of wifi warriors out there and if you are choosing to play online and take it more seriously, then for a fighting game, investing in a wired connection is key (long 25-50ft ethernet cable if you’re far from the router, power adapter… whatever it takes, save up those shekels and get something to get you off of wireless if you’re still on it).

I think its better, but in a lot of small ways, and its still fundamentally SFV. If you didn’t like it or were on the fence before S3/AE isn’t really gonna change anything.
I really appreciate the tweaked normal AAs and the tighter ranks in matchmaking. The balance is generally the same, give or take an Abigail or maybe a Rashid, and I can live with where its at if a 3.5 doesn’t come down the road.
… Eff!
Server maintenance is today, I forgot about it. It will be 10 pm here when the maintenance is over. I guess I will only get to try online with people in the North America region tomorrow night.
PS. Please, let there be a 3.5 down the road. My main got hit a wee bit hard and I would like him to get some minor buffs back.
I already like SFV overall so it’s just another day with some changes. Like GetTheTables said, if you already liked it you’ll keep liking it. If you have problems with it, you’re still going to have problems with it (unless you were an Abigail player where the problems you didn’t have got fixed).
Ibuki is still good so that’s all I care about. Certain anti airs getting better is nice, but I dont jump unless to make a read on something or there is no other choice any way. Unlike Season 2 there’s probably no zero to hero characters except for Kolin, but I dunno if she’ll be like top 5 material. Top 10 at best. Tiers are probably about the same, just that the too honest characters are better at being honest.

Weeb Arcade Game looks fun.
When does weeb Arcade Game come to Steam, so I can be a Weeb too.
Wait I play SF and BB, I already am a Weeb.
At least they’re smart enough to use cute girls to promote their games. This always works.

I will answer that question, after Falke has come to safe me.
Speaking of Kolin. How would you like to eat a 2 bar CC combo with 8f startup for 506 damage and 730 stun with your stun bar frozen on top of that?
Yeah I’m sure that was intentional on Capcom’s part.
Can’t wait for CPT to start so more people can live through the craziness.
I agree with @Darklightjg1 in general, the online play (especially ranked matches) have been a LOT more enjoyable to me now that i only face Diamonds and above. No more pesky plats where i get 25 points for a W and lose 150+ on a loss. It makes the games much less stressful. That and getting paired with more solid players in general is a good thing.
I know it is not a popular opinion but i am a fan of Arcade mode. It is relaxing in a way.
Like before going to bed, i would do an arcade run for whoever because i want to see what art i will unlock since i am a sucker for that shit.
Balance is tighter among the cast although, i do feel that the gap between the average characters and Rashid, Guile and Abigail is very wide at the moment. Overall though, no one seems unviably bad, which is good.
Being on PS4, i LOVE the new load times on matches. Finally the game is loading matches at a resonable speed, unlike vanilla SF5 so that is also good.
Overall the game is better, i don’t think there is any buts or ifs about that.
Have they said anything about us getting Blanka for free for a week, like we did with Sakura?

No. No news so gotta pay for him
For Ibukis V skill, mainly you use the charged version from a range to make pokes whiff and punish them. Only minus 3 on block so relatively safe if they do block it. Once you get used to where to space it its very strong when people get predictable with their pokes. It’s a projectile hit box so once it’s out it’ll stuff most anything that isn’t a projectile or projectile invincible move on the ground
