The SFV Lounge: SRK is ALIVE. AE Hype is BACK! DISCORD going the way of DISCO

Well you basically have a large amount of initial sales and increase the chance of long term sales because of it
Some will stay some wont but those that stay will bring in more $$$ through dlc
It’s not like all the casuals will quit
some will even become fighting game players because of the casual stepping stone mechanics of the game
It’s also not like the hardcore fighting mechanics of the game are affected by the casual mechanics either
This way they bring in more $$$, more players, and the chance to convert the casual into hardcore

What are the positives from cutting out the casual mechanics compared to this?

Also you say auto combos won’t change minds but they already have
Also the auto combos aren’t just stepping stones for fresh blood but also for fighting game players that don’t have experience in anime fighting games

At certain ranges his TCs won’t connect
bad fireball
He was played as a counter character and bMP being nerfed kinda hit him hard
Corner game is also affected by that but largely affected by throw loops being gone
I’d say he’s around where ryu is
He’s not bad at any aspect of the game but he’s not great either

It’s kind of like vegas roll not connecting even though it was hit confirmed
It sucks that your bnb doesn’t connect even though you hit confirmed it and sucks even more when it’s your characters main source of dmg or punish

People need to stop thinking about DBFZ’s L Autocombos like they’re autocombos.

They are unique normals, not accessible by any other way, like say, the M autocombo, which is generally a simple, unoptimized hitconfirm option if you do the full AC.

When people start thinking about the L AC’s as a rekka, it’ll make a lot more sense.

And yet SFIV sold a lot more than games like SFV and DBFZ despite being harder to get into. I agree with most of what you wrote but history has proven that casuals doesn’t seem to care about easier combos and such (look at Rev2 it has an autocombo feature specifically designed for casuals and yet it’s still a niche game), I’d say that the devs should aim at those people that have some interest in the genre but are discouraged on how hard it is to get started by providing some good tutorials.
If it weren’t for Skullgirls’ excellent tutorial I probably wouldn’t be here today

SF4 sold more…

Okay are we really gonna use that as the metric when we all damn well know SF4 sold well because of nostalgia?

Like yeah SF4 sold a shit ton but that was because SF3 was a literal who with the mainstream gamers and the last SF they played was Alpha 2.

I don’t give a fuck what anyone says but the lack of an execution barrier is a good thing. Every fighting game has done it. Hell SF4’s FADC was supposed to be for the casuals. Easy BnB’s =/= lack of depth.

Edit: That’s great that SG’s brought you here but SG execution barrier is non existent. It’s one of the easiest fighters to pick up and mash in. Now actually being good a game like that is not easy because it’s a fucking Mahvel clone.

And the auto combos in Rev are for dicking around in you can’t take that shit online. (At least to my knowledge)

I am also in favour of easy auto combo mechanics that help casual and first timers involved with the game.
If they are having fun, they ought to stick around and start learning the more complex mechanics, increasing the player base in the long run.

help frosty is being racist on discord

Gief looking good for S3!

@Bea_Iank he’s still got it.

based on the wiki sf4 sold in the first two weeks one million units.
dbfz already sold in one week 2 million units…

I hate EVERYTHING about that tweet. EVERYTHING!

@TWINBLADES has point about SFIV’s sales. It was the first new SF in a decade. That was a huge part of it’s sales.

hello my fellow urban people

He isnt bad. Chris T complaints mostly center around Ken juggles not always working or his crouch mp into back mp link being fickle. Tiny spacing differences throw it off.

Balrog players are having the same issue with no boycott scheduled.

Dont always quickrise or always delay. Have to mix up wake up timings. Other than that avoid the corner and save meter for super because supers break armor

I don’t know man Smug seems to be doing okay with the Tap nerfs lol

From my scrub mindset I understand why Chris is bitching but he needs to realize no one gives a fuck. Momo playing Kolin now. That should tell Chris something. Ves is a cuck but he’s right, don’t play bad characters if you want dat moolah.

I have nothing against a low execution barrier, if anything I’m glad I don’t have to deal with 1 frame links just for a B&B, my point is that casuals don’t really care about those things, devs are better off with including decent single player modes for them and good intrudoctory tutorials for those among them that could be interested in learning the game.
You’re right about Rev2 stilysh mode but the same can be said about DBFZ autocombos

My bad then, still I hardly doubt that autocombos had a big part in those sales

I meant about juggles and combo inconsistencies. Balrog has to use less optimal combos now too for the sake of consistent results. Ken players could do the same but nope. Emails and boycotts> adaptation

That.

If you always quickrise then you predictable and abigail gonna can-opener you. However if you say delay wakeup when abi predicts quick wakeup, instead of dying you get a punish.

Also depending on the players timing, you can always try to wake up throw.

Happy Valentine’s Day, SRK. Eat the pussy and the ass to your heart’s content.

Smug is a top notch player with high execution. People acted like Dudley carried Smug in SFIV when the opposite was true. Balrog being harder to get optimal damage with just widens the gap between Smug and other Balrog players.
