Apparently its a money situation. The forums cost an assload to maintain. Problem is that so many fucking decisions are made in backrooms that you can never get a straight answer.
They told the front page staff that it could happen and now I guess they pulled the trigger.
As soon as SF5 looks like its gonna get some life in it, that’s when its over.
We talk about nerfs/buffs, tech, streams, fat asses, big tits, waifus, got to witness LordWilliams sexual awakening, Twinblades evolving into a solid player, have disagreements and talk shit to each other then be laughing about it hrs later, watch Evil Canadian post a bunch of monkey pics, Dime’s long-ass posts, DJ’s knowledge, Daemos Bison worship, Abigail salt, etc. Discussions **never **got dull here. Not even a little bit.
SRK is truly a unique environment that’ll never be replicated. I think of *all *of you as family more so than just fellow fighting game players. I mean that sincerely.
I remember going “hohoho, daaammmmn they threw the axe at doa”. Now SRK picks up the axe too.
Been a long journey for me. I’ll definitely do goodbyes and stuff towards the end of the month. Most likely going to be a discord hermit and lurk twitter as I don’t like anything else.
They need to start a donation drive, i wish they would have made this know before instead of just being like “we closing at the end of the month” it tells me its not something they are really interested in keeping open like that in the 1st place.
That Esports and evo money is too good to them now I guess.
Also sorry but I don’t buy the story about the forums servers being too expensive. I had a pretty active forum for over 10 years on a private server and it costed almost nothing. If forums were as dead as the article suggests (and they are probably less dead than the homepage of SRK) then it would cost even less because you would get servers with less traffic.
