The SFV Lounge: MUTINY!

I can tell you that the few times I fire it up I play Animal Crossing and Ace Attorney, but I got some gems in there. Bastion is great, and now Hades soon, so get on that. Also Team Sonic Racing is unnecessarily awesome.

Do we really not have any mods on SRK left?

Basically, no.

When was the last time you’ve seen d3v or Jin?

Oh? Make me a mod! Youngblood knows who to ban and when. Let’s make this happen, people.

You mod GD and I mod the SF section.

I want no parts of that clusterfuck.

Oh, there are going to be some cancellations! This will be easy. SRK is the new Discord.

Homie, I don’t need a bunch of 16 year old smashers throwing racial slurs all over the place.

As opposed to 40 year olds doing that?

Words to live by:

@d3v lurkin’. But otherwise, no, not really.

And the ones that could come back, I honestly wouldn’t want here anyway.

@MARTIAN Remember the other day about the metal vs metalcore thing, I think this video is a good example of why the division between both scenes lol. I don’t know how I forgot about this. Have you ever played Brutal Legend?

the rapping, disc jockeying, the “uhhhh, girlfriend :kissing_heart: you’re always gonna be my girlfriend”

Damn, Brutal Legend is so fuckin good. I totally forgot about that intro. I forgot how good the sense of humor was. I remember laughing my absolute ass off at the first half hour of that game. Wonder if it’s on Steam…

Anyway, yeah, that scene perfectly illustrates the disconnection between Metal and people who just “appropriate” the sounds of Metal to make something totally homogenized and lame.

I mean, I’ve always hated that crowd too. Scene/Emo kids entering the scene and making cringe sadboi music never sat well with me. You’ll always have the more generic sounding stuff like this…

^^^Even though… I actually find parts of this riff pretty sick. :joy:

Though I see a pretty distinct difference between something like that, and something like this:

^^This shit is so fucking creative, and manages to pull from various sources of inspiration. I dunno, I really appreciate when artists are able to incorporate more melodic elements into whatever branch of Metal they’re going for.

But I also love the more primal shit like this:

I get why there’s a disconnect. If the dudes playing these songs looked like that band from the Brutal Legend intro, I’d be raising eyebrows too. Often times I end up listening to the music first before I even see the band themselves though, so if I hear music like the stuff I posted above, I find it a little easier to forgive the band for whatever cringe aesthetic they might have going on.

Not all Deathcore is lame sadboi shit Aries! You will be converted… One day.

Try to find a deal on one of these. I’ve only bought one thing from Gamestop in 5 years and it was this.

Last Black Friday, they had them for 50% off. I use it to play my PS4 when I go to Virginia to visit family.

They really need to cut the startup on his VS2 by like 8 or 9F. It has 25F startup. Kolin’s VS1 has like 18F IIRC.

That first video lol. That was metal in the age of Myspace  :slightly_frowning_face:

Yeah, Brutal Legend was pretty good, lots of metal references in everything, cool attacks, etc. The game is on Steam. It was free on 2017 through Humble Bundle:

That The Last Seconds of Life song was good, some cool sections there. In fact, it’s got tinges of the brutality found in that Dying Fetus song I linked you some days ago. You should check it out:

Why can’t we have something like this here?

I should take my Retail experience and open a anime themed shop as well!!

I actually did listen to the songs you showed me, I just forgot to respond, my bad.

While I enjoy the general tone and progression of these songs, I often find myself disliking the general sound of the instruments being played. The guitars sound very grainy and in the background, and this is something I find common between a lot of Metal like this. I genuinely don’t know if it’s just a sound quality issue, or if they’re intentionally made to sound like that, but I think that’s a big factor as to why I don’t gravitate towards this type of Metal very often.

I also feel like a lot of these bands try to play as fast as possible to be technically impressive, and it almost always feels forced to me. I like me some fast paced music, but if I don’t feel like there’s a creative riff being played I lose interest quickly.

Keep sending stuff like this my way tho. I find new types of Metal I like almost every day so I’m open to anything.
