Honestly, unless you want an exclusive, PC is still the best long term deal imo. :man_shrugging:

If they weren’t a considerably higher investment, it wouldn’t be a question. I would’ve had one two years ago.

ATM, as far as gaming goes, the best investments are a Switch and a PC. If you don’t have something right now, make it one of those two or none at all.

Got both.

Can’t, it’s modded.

Besides, we’d both be on WiFi.

I’ll be honest. I don’t see any need right now in getting a PS5 or a PC. I can play 90% of what i want to play on what I currently have.

If i buy a mid-class PC right now, it may not be good enough for when a new game finally comes out that i want on it. Such as a new FPS that will drop next year.

I’m probably just going to wait until I feel like i need to make a move.

Edit: or until my wife buys me a PS5 despite me telling her not to lol

True, true. No one wants to deal with my slow motion Trunks.

Yeah that sentiment is shared by all PC players. Here’s the thing though: devs are getting better at optimising stuff. DOOM on the highest settings runs well on my 2015 system, as does Batman and high-demand CPU-intensive emulations. If you got a mid range PC right now, it’d be stronger than the PS4 by a lot, and you’d be good for most (if not all) major games in the coming years, plus the modularity means you can upgrade the necessary parts when required. Lower costs in the long run.

Edit: My laptop is on par with, if not a little weaker, than a PS4 right now, for context.

Best idea. Especially since you’ll probably want a specific game’s requirements/recommended specs as a baseline.

It’s really not something you should do absent-mindedly.

At least you’re in Canada, so Evil Canadian should be able to give you a hand.

Actually, thats a good question for you guys…

When buying a gaming PC, is there anything to consider? I’m not opposed to building my own, but i don’t have any idea where i’d start, and in the past, I’d just buy a Dell or something, and upgraded it as I needed, but the CPU would be the same.

Is it common to upgrade the CPU and things? Can you even do that on a Dell or HP, or do you need like a modular chasis/tower to begin with?

Looks at SFV.

Nah bro, we don’t trust FG devs outside of ArcSys with optimization.

Get a couple of screwdrivers and get on it. Upgrading is very common and very easy, and making a PC is like reverse Jenga. Not at all complicated. Consider what you’ll be buying the parts for, and what your budget is in relation to your goals.

As for SFV, runs fine for me ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Its true, doom Eternal (or id tech 7) is like the most optimized engine i have ever seen. What it does on my PS4 is amazing. It looks like a next gen title, and is so much more advanced than Doom 2016 on the same console.

Yes. Buy whatever you can used.

PCs devalue like cars and phones, so the more you save when building them, the better. That’s why I told you to ask EC for help, he probably got some nice sources to help you out.

I’m not going to lie. Buying some stranger’s harddrive freaks me out.

Isn’t that exciting though? In any case, why the hell would you willingly buy a hard drive in this era? What are you, a dinosaur? Oh wait…
