Hey Guys,

I created a combo video for Vega. You can find it here. It has notations for people who are just starting. Vega needs to be more recognized.

Street Fighter IV Wirless Fight Pad (45 euro)

Can someone tell me the difference between these controllers(exept the price :lame:) and wich one is better ??

Thx:bgrin:

hey there!

my name is Marius and i’m from the netherlands. i’m an active member on sf4forums.com but i decided to take a look here for more information

my sf history in short: played sf2ww on snes, i was around 8 back then so it was mostly button mashing and i was happy when i got a srk instead of an hdk from time to time. you guys probably know what i’m talking about :stuck_out_tongue: from there i hadnt been playing sf much until i ironicly enough played puzzlefighter. my youthsentiment made me long for sf so i decided to play sfalpha 1,2 and 3. those got my attention for only a few weeks and i never got much better with them. only playing against cpu get boring. many years past and then sf4 was announced. i immediatly wanted to have it and my friends pre-ordered it for my birthday. i got it, finaly learned to play a bit and went online. from that point i’m an addict…

ken has been my main since the first time played sf2 (if you could call it a main back then :P) but he was my favourite and he has been ever since. i though i was one of the few who liked ken but when i went online on sf4 i found out i couldnt have been more wrong :stuck_out_tongue:

anyway this is me in a nutshell.

in short: the fightpad is an easyer to controll d-pad…dont buy it is my advice
arcadestick: what the word says. its an arcadestick. i got it myself because i felt i could do combos way better if i could use all my fingers instead of only my thumb and i wanted to see if an arcade stick helps.

it does but it takes much MUCH MUUUCHH patience…that thing that i dont have :stuck_out_tongue:

arcadestickTournamentEdition: arcadestick but with the best parts. the standard edition gets dirty and buttons are going to get sticky stuff like that.

if you are seriously thinking about playing sf to the max i suggest you guy the latter. if you want to try it out first just buy the standard edition. you can moderate it afterwards if you enjoy it

btw are you on ps3 or xbox? if you’re on ps3 add me: CorridorsOfTime

i want to get to know as much dutch players as possible

grtz marius

Thx for advice

Im a ps3 player, ill ad u. im pretty newb so dont expect much :P.
my account name is SjorsWilms.

antoher question: is the arcade stick wireless? and is dashing easier with the arcade stick? cuz i (allmost) cant dash with ps3 controller…

no the arcade stick is not wireless it has a usbcable  yes dashing is easier with the arcadestick. when i use ps3 controller i use dpad but when i need to dash i use the arrows :stuck_out_tongue:

but dont think the arcadestick will improve your game immediatly it takes some time

I understand :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m hardly a newcomer to Street Fighter by any means, but there’s always been one huge thorn in my side, that I’ve failed time and again to remedy:

Breaking throws.
I know technically how to do it, but I can’t ever break throws during gameplay. What kinds of things do I look for?? How can I make it easier on myself?

Thanks!

Honestly if you are playing online, it’s nearly impossible to break throws on reaction, especially if you aren’t hosting. Due to various factors, by the time you see the throw, it’s too late.

Your best bet is to predict the throw and psychic tech, this can also get your punished, so it’s best to read your opponent’s tendencies and psychic tech option select.

Most people have a bit of a pattern to their throws. They’ll use them in the same types of situations. After resets, walk up throw, c.lp x2 throw. It’s best to watch for these and then use the option select in those situations if you see a pattern.

Thanks guys! I’d rep you if I could. :frowning:

So, it is possible to break them on reaction?? How big is the window for a break, frame-wise?

Sorry, but what’s a reset?

Generally, a reset is where both players are in neutral state, so the playing field has been “reset”. If the reset window is small enough, sometimes the opponent is caught eating an additional combo that has also “reset” its damage. Many mixups are based on the reset, such as Balrog’s overhead, or Akuma’s demon flip throw.

The “reset” he was probably referring to is when you hit an opponent out of the air, and they flip back and land on their feet. They are totally invulnerable on the way down, and thus they reset the field once they land.

Also, a combo, once started, is unblockable because of hitstun, but damage scales down during the combo. So if you perform an ultra at the end of a 6-hit combo, it will just chip off a tiny amount of health.

Infinite combos may look awesome in MvsC2, but if you look at the health bar it will take
300 hits to chip off all the health eventually since every hit does next to no damage. Reset by breaking the combo, and you’re back at full damage again, but the opponent may block again too.

Hi everyone,

I feel I’ve been lurking around here for long enough now to put in my 2 pennies worth… with stupid questions (soon to follow in the Abel thread).

Although I did spend quite a lot of time in the arcades when SF2 first came out, I was never a good player, with next to no knowledge of the game mechanics.
But I am working hard to change this with SF4 and I am getting close to being obsessed with the game now…

Anyway, this site is a gold mine and I’ll take this opportunity to shout a big thank you to everyone in the SRK team and community.

Now on to the stupid questions…

Cheers
